I thought they were fish head aliens from Aldebaran.
Boy is my face red!

Speaking of mistakes, I thought I was watching Mama’s Family until the fourth episode! :smack:
[hurley] Uh…dude? Uh…that was our only set of handcuffs, dude! [/hurley]
And also in the spirit of confession, I thought Locke was going to be the mystical one. Which, actually, I guess he kinda is at the moment, but I thought that he would be the character who wasn’t actually on the plane. My bad.
Clue stick: Um, Jack. When a women asks if you’re checking her out, and clearly wants you to admit it, and you instead inform her you were actually thinking about that boring old logistics stuff, well. Just don’t be surprised when she gets all pissy at you and decides to ixnay your ansplay.
I was kind of bummed when they split up, though.
She had what looked like aloe leaves that she was rubbing on Jin’s wrists when he was handcuffed to the plane wreckage. Aloe would be very good for minor cuts and scrapes and sunburn.
I thought aloe only grew in desert-like areas, but it could have been something else.
Heh
Nah, they were never hooked up in the first place. I’m absolutely certain Jack’s gay.
I made some wrong assumptions, as well. My most off the mark assumption was that Sun was the young trophy wife of an older Korean shady businessman and Jin was the corporate protege who was assigned the job of finding Sun and bringing her back. He tracks her down in Australia and they’re on their way back to Korea. I thought that would explain Jin ordering Sun to button her sweater and the uncomfortable way Sun acted around Jin. Hey, it worked for me.
Just to show you all that I don’t learn from my mistakes, I’ve got a far out theory. What if established relationships break down, and the former partners hook up with different partners? What if Sun took up with Michael? I’ll bet that would stir up some drama.
I’d be willing to bet he’s not. No proof either way, but that seems too trivial to be his “dark secret.”
Encinitas, which beach? The one with the plane crash or the cleaner one?
I missed it- when can I expect an encore? :o
He mentioned that he was from Tikrit, which is Saddam’s home town. Maybe he is a terrorist and was the reason why the plane crashed in the first place.
Didn’t he also say he was Republican Gaurd during Gulf War I?
What would his wish be? Honor? Glory? Peace?
No! I refuse to believe it. He’s a good guy. He’s just got to be!
I’m guessing he was in the army but he deserted, because he didn’t believe in what he was doing. Maybe he saw things he didn’t want to see, and couldn’t live with it, or he saw things he shouldn’t have seen, and now he’s a hunted man.
I’m assuming they’ll show new ones through November for ratings sweeps, so probably not until December or more likely January.
I just checked my local broadcast listings at www.zap2it.com, and it’s showing a repeat of House of the Rising Sun (Sun & Jin’s backstory) at 8pm on Saturday November 6, followed by a repeat of The Moth (Charlie’s backstory, due to air first on November 3) at 9pm.
The above times are for the Pacific time zone, so you’ll want to check for appropriate times for New York.
Thanks a ton, Antonius. I’ve bookmarked Zap2it for this type of minor crisis.
God, I absolutely love this show. At first, I had a very wild theory that the characters were either back in time, or in a “Land that time forgot” situation, so that the tree-crunching critters were actually dinosaurs.
I’ve dismissed that now, you can thank the polar bear for that. Something supernatural is going on, and Locke’s behaviour, especially in this latest episode, shows that he knows something about the island . He’s just not telling anyone (except maybe for the young black kid).
Only thing I’m worried about is the fact that each episode introduces a new mystery – I truly hope some creative person somewhere has the whole plot written out in full, with all mysteries explained.
There are two ways (I can think of) that this show could turn dreadful:
It gets canceled, and a quickie resolution has to be pulled out of the creative teams’ collective posteriors.
Turns out near the end that the writers were just pulling the mystery elements out of nowhere, and they never had a clear way to tie everything up.
Based on the quality so far, I fear #2 is hopefully unfounded. Fear #1, however, is something that can happen to even the best TV show ever…
Make that, I think fear #2 is unfounded…
The only thing I think Locke knew, when he was talking to Walt about the secret anyway, was that he was once paralyzed but the island cured him. That was before he saw The Monster. Then, later, he saw The Monster and subsequently told Jack that he had “looking into the eye of the island, and it was beautiful.” Clearly that indicates that he knows something, having seen the thing and lived to tell about it when no one else has, but I wouldn’t assume he knows any more than that. Of course, I could be wrong.
Has The Monster killed anyone since the airplane pilot, that we know of?
No. Only 3 of the survivors have died so far. 1) The pilot was killed by the monster. 2) The marshall who was escorting Kate back to the U.S. was euthanized by Jack after Sawyer (??) botched up the mercy killing. 3) And then a faceless chick drowned after getting caught in a riptide while going for a morning swim.
It seemed that Locke was going to bite the big one when he was on his boar hunt and he looked up into the eyes of the monster, but he managed to survive.
That leaves us with 45 people, IIRC.
46, right? Was the pilot counted in the 48? I don’t think he was, but I could be wrong.
