I just watched the Walt & Shannon scene again (very Twin Peaksy) and there is nothing to make out of his whispering…it sounds like it’s being played in reverse. Of course, we can make something out of him speaking in reverse, right?
I think that Desmond was injecting himself with an antidote to the sickness that claimed Danielle’s crew. The Island itself was quarintined.
I’m still trying to figure out the significance of Desmond washing his dishes from the night before first thing in the morning when he clearly has a dishwasher in that kitchen of his.
They were discussing Lost on the local morning show and i caught the end of thier theory about the SUV driver. They though he was Boone’s father, I think because of the guy’s last name. I might have misunderstood, but that might be something to check into.
Actually, Rousseau’s team changed course to investigate the broadcast of the numbers, and were shipwrecked. She later changed the transmission to the distress call you heard in S01E01. So someone was already transmitting the numbers before she and her crew got there.
I didn’t get a chance to go back and re-listen, but my brain is telling me that the SUV driver’s last name was Rutherford–if I’m right, that makes him either Shannon’s father or the man she was briefly married to (but by Jack’s hair, that flashback took place well before Shannon could have been of marriageable age).
In the first hour re-cap show that preceeded the season premier, I noticed that the cover of the comic book that Walt is reading on the beach was optically blurred out. Anybody remember, or can check, to see if that has always been the case?
On a local radio show here, they said that Walt said something like, “Press the button … no button is bad.” Could that possibly be right? And if so, could the alleged “button” be the EXECUTE button that Jack didn’t press last night because Locke told him not to?
No, it hasn’t - my husband noticed the same thing. Oh, and Draelin? I’ve heard the same thing about the driver’s last name. And IIRC, Shannon’s dad died when she was in her teens, and left all his money to Boone’s mom … dun-dun-duuuuuuuuuuuuuun.
On preview … I don’t know. The guys on this radio station are huge fans of the show, but they’re also known fatheads, so I don’t know whether to trust them or not. They could be making the whole think up just to yank our collective chains.
I thought I noticed that too. That was weird. If you actually want to read the comic, you can find it here. WARNING: The site uses hi-res jpg files (average size is over 200K). Might slow down some computers.
We don’t yet know the whereabouts of her wrecked ship, do we?
Walt doesn’t know about the hatch yet, does he? It could be that the “others” were kind enough to let him come back for his dog. Maybe there’s something “special” about Vincent too.
The fact that the button is labelled ‘execute’ has to be of some siginificance. My recollection of early '80s computers is pretty foggy, but I don’t recall ‘execute’ on any keyboards that I ever saw.
When have we had people hearing the voices? Shannon all exhaused, Sayid wounded, sick, and exhausted, Sawyer when he was…abruptly woken up and chasing a boar…was he fighting off an infection from Sayid’s knife at that point?
wow, four pages and nobody’s brought this up yet? Am I the only one disappointed that we didn’t get ANY kind of check in with the raft guys? I saw Daniel Kim in the credits so they probably aren’t dead yet, but if they pull another one of these keep-the-character-off-the-show-for-long-enough-that-you-presume-they’re-dead tricks and then have them show up back on the island next month, or just decide to have a scene with them in the middle of the ocean four episodes later, then I am done watching this show. I broke a dish when I threw it at the TV (fortunately my aim sucks and I hit the wall) when Claire showed up again last season. In this case, I won’t be HAPPY if they’re dead, but if they aren’t, it’s just being cheap leaving their story off the show.
The writers WILL redeem themselves if they end up showing up again in the finale with a rescue team…but of course, if that happens, then no more show.
Also, another nitpick, but why isn’t ABC airing this show in widescreen? I watched season 1 in a marathon over the summer via use of a means that won’t be mentioned here, and those episodes were in widescreen, and I couldn’t watch last night’s episode due to the horrible cropping on my non-HDTV…so I had to wait an hour and half until that alternate method was available to me.
