Lost 2.16: "The Whole Truth"

By proxy?

Good News:

As soon as this came up, Mrs. Z said, “Cute. That’s the book that taught every girl my age about her period.”

Thread died out at 2.5 pages? Lost isn’t giving us as much to discuss these days…

At least next week’s preview looks interesting - but they often do.

Yeah, it was an interesting and entertaining episode, but it doesn’t invite a lot of speculation. So I hope y’all forgive me if I wander back a few episodes, just to make conversation:

I was digging around trying to find a screenshot (and failed) but I noticed something else about “Fire + Water” that I didn’t notice before. This bit, from one of Charlie’s dream sequences. Butcher’s whites, baby doll parts.

It’s like that famously-nixed cover for one of a more successful British band’s albums: Yesterday and Today. (Nifty association for a show that keeps flipping back-and-forth between the past and the present, too.)

If anyone could come through with screenshots from that eppy (the “Widmore Construction” sign and the Floyd powerstation,) I’d be absurdly grateful. (I’m already anxious for the Season Two DVD set.)

Oh, and while looking for screengrabs, I accidently came across a possible spoiler about Uncle Henry for an upcoming episode, on ABC’s official site, in one of those hokey diary entries that nobody’s bothering to read. (Including me. Accident, I swear!)
The writer of the diary is concerned after finding out that they’re keeping their brother in the hatch, and apparently mistreating him. They’re planning action.

I haven’t read any of the other diary entries, so I don’t know what there is in the way of hints about the identity of the writer. One of the principal castaways? Or maybe someone who just uses the honorific “brother” way too damn much? Could Henry be “Him?”
Absolutely, or at least the writers talking to the audience, as they have done on multiple occasions and did on at least 2 other occasions in this episode. One was when Kate said, “Who flies with a pregnancy test?” and the other was, as Shayna said, when Henry Gale made the comments about the lack of curiosity of the main characters (probably the number one issue with the online community about this show).

That’s one thing I really love about this show. It’s the first multi-media, interactive drama on television. For what may be the first time in history, the creators are acutely aware that their viewers will freeze-frame, screen-grab and online-discuss every element of the show, and they encourage and contribute to it via websites, easter eggs, red herrings, podcasts and so forth. In addition, they let this ‘conversation’ feed into the creative process of the show. So, in a way, we are helping create a show we want to watch. If anything, this will be what keeps the show going for years and years.

My big question is, though, where is the inevitable Lost video game?

I think Sun might have been the person travelling with a pregnancy test.

Didn’t you see the look on her face when Kate said “Who flies with a pregnancy test?” I mean, we’re all so surprised there was one on the plane, wouldn’t even have thought about looking for one and it would have been a bit of a risk asking Sawyer if he had one and then still not knowing. Just an idea - which would fit with bald guy as Daddy-oh.

Rumor has it it’s going to be announced at E3 this year.

I don’t particularly believe it myself, but then they did just announce a Desperate Housewives game…
