Lost 4.02: "Confirmed Dead"

I see you’ve all missed the most significant development of the entire episode:

Where’d the cow come from?

Wasn’t that from the Mikhail’s farm?

I like the idea that Michael is Ben’s spy, but just to throw a crazy idea out there, what if…
…CS Lewis is Ben’s “man” on the freighter?

I thought Ben knew CS was wearing a vest, too. He couldn’t have known that kind of recent information from his spy, since he’s been on a leash for the last two days. Perhaps he knew because he already knows her and what precautions whe would take.
The idea that the ‘man on the boat’ was Michael was spoiler boxed a few posts before yours, but that was speculation as well, so it’s not really a spoiler.

Ah, I understand now. I thought speculation wasn’t supposed to be spoiler boxed so I hadn’t read that post. Sorry for the confusion.

I was just perusing the LOST website and came across the Sawyer Nickname Generator!

He called me “Betty”! Hee!

WTH? I’m “Haus”.

I saw the mentions of the character Faraday being named after the scientist Faraday but why hasn’t anyone discussed much about what the scientist Faraday is known for? I had to read about it on another site. You guys are smrt, I expect you to bring that stuff up first. Wasn’t there discussion in the second season that the hatch was some type of Faraday cage? Faraday worked with light and electromagnetics and the character Faraday made a comment about the way light scatters on the island.
Come on, smrties, help me out. I let all my knowledge of physics leave my brain for other more important stuff, like pop culture trivia. Fill me in on all this stuff.

I’m Huckleberry Pinhead!

Oh, maybe it’s supposed to sound like “Hoss”, as in Cartwright.

I’m Fernidad. Pleased to meet you.

Good episode! I kinda wish they’d drop the future stuff and just continue from here.

I don’t know how, but I ended up as “Short Pants” :smack:

I’m Huckelberry Pinhead!

The Frighteners - directed by Peter LOTR Jackson.

If anyone is curuos, here is the info on the helecopter:

I tried to do the same thing with the Nigerian plane. I couldn’t get a clear look at the tail number. Though it was a US registration one time and a Nigerian one in a later episode.

Brian

I’m “Pud.” Gee, thanks.

I like how they refer to Sawyer as His Seaside Surliness

As for the show, I agree that the boat guys want to talk to Jacob. Why else could the Asian Ghost-Whisperer guy possibly be there? That’s probably where Ben comes in; they know that he talks to Jacob. The red-headed chick is probably there to study the Others. Maybe she’s supposed to find out when they arrived on the island, and why. She obviously knows something about the Dharma Initiative already. The pilot must have been chosen because of his connection to Oceanic 815. My guess is, they don’t want him telling the whole world about how the crash site was faked, and they hired him because that way they can keep him far away from civilization. No ideas about the first guy. Does anybody have any theories on why he’s there?

Naomi’s flashback was creepy. “There are no survivors.” I think Naomi was supposed to kill any castaways before the other four guys landed. Her helicopter was probably a gunship.

I strongly suspect that something in the Swan Station is still active. That big magnet must be what caused the two helicopters to go down. It’ll probably crash the helicopter again – if Locke doesn’t blow up the helicopter first. (There’s still one bundle of dynamite, you know.)

As for Michael and Walt, here’s my theory: Ben sent the submarine out to sink Michael’s boat and take Walt back again. Michael was told that he has to help Ben spy on the boat people if he ever wants to see Walt again. Michael was set adrift so that he could be rescued by the freighter. Walt was taken back to the island and hidden well away from Jack, Locke, and company. He eventually escaped, and now he’s possessed by Jacob.

I hadn’t read the whole thread before I posted, so I missed this post:

I think I know what Faraday is doing on the island. He was sent there to turn off the Super-Jumbo Magnet From Hell.

Hey man, I mentioned it in post 39 with a link and indistinguishable mentioned it in 40 and 41.

We can’t teach you if you don’t listen

I said:

I know it was mentioned but a mention and a link to something are not a discussion or explanation.

Oops, got the spoiler part wrong, too, so my earlier speculation did not need to be boxed. Here it is again, open for discussion…

I mentioned it in #46… didn’t talk about it though…
