Has Juliet always been touching someone when the flashes come?
I don’t think they ever showed some people NOT flashing through time.
What they haven’t showed is what happens when a person who is flashing runs up against their past selves.
For example, (future)Sawyer seeing (past)Claire having the baby with (past)Kate. Was there a (past)Sawyer at the beach at the same time?
The Others (Alpert, in particular) do not seem to be flashing. Neither is Rousseau.
That’s cause Rousseau is dead. The Others are the only ones we know no to be flashing (because they disappeared when John flashed). MAkes me think that there’s some sort of “Other” process that either Juliet never went through or that she was de"other"ized when she got that tattoo.
I think this is probably the right answer (according to show logic). OTOH, everybody but Locke and Alpert (apparently) dies at some point in the future. The Rousseau that Jin meets and flashes away from is certainly alive right then. I think the difference is that Rousseau was dead when the flashing started.
Yes. I agree. I think the rule is something like:
Those who flash are:
- On the island when the fun starts (excludes Waaaaaaaaaaaaaalt, Locke and Ben while off-island, and the O6);
- Not dead when the fun starts; and
- Not an Other (those Others who were kicked out don’t count).
Why do people keep referring to five people as “the 06”? Aaron didn’t come.
My favorite dialogue was:
“What happens to the other people on this plane?”
“Who cares?”
The geniuses comprising Our Heroes keep getting too comfortable with Ben, and kind of forgetting that he’s a mass-murdering sociopath.
So, given Ms. Hawking’s “explanation”, I guess we can definitively say that the show is fantasy. That’s fine; I just wish they wouldn’t dress up their magical supernatural fantasy with pseudoscientific bullshit.
Oh, I guess we’ve got one question answered. Judging from the preview, it looks like Locke retained his ability to walk after he got back to the world. Of course, that makes sense – if his spinal cord was healed, there’s no reason it wouldn’t stay that way – but you can’t assume anything on this show will make sense.
Have we been told that everybody but Locke and Alpert dies at some point? I’m a little confused what you mean there.
Does anyone but me wonder why Sayid is so docile in the custody of just that one woman? Not that a woman can’t handle a prisoner, but it would seem to me that two strong men would be needed to move our badass from point A to point B and keep him under control, and even then it would be iffy.
Yup.
I’m so suspicious I’m wondering if Sayid is somehow in cahoots with the women. One of those ‘We’ll pretend I’m your prisoner to fool “X”’ kind of things, though I have no idea who Sayid would be trying to fool and to what end.
Me too. Not sure exactly what I was getting at there.
Regarding whether or not Locke can still walk off the island:
Looks like from the previews he can (albeit with cast from fall injury). Which makes the “S.O.S.” episode a little more interesting. Looks like Rose can leave the island without getting Cancer again.
Question just popped into my head: if “Our Heroes” just disappeared off the plane they
were on and the plane itself didn’t crash, what would the other folks on the plane make of this???(Or does the whole other off-island world just not matter any more to the plot?) Or DID the plane crash? What about Lapidus? Any thoughts?
Lapidus might be able to smooth some of that over if he remains on the plane. If the plane lands without a pilot, that’s going to raise eyebrows. Also, our Heroes all appeared to be seated by themselves in first class. That might offer them some cover when they don’t arrive on the other end.
Other than that, no idea.
I imagine that there was a co-pilot. I’m more curious about the flight attendants, as to whether or not the ones who were in first class dissappeared.
well, yeah. There’s a co-pilot to land the plane, but the pilot’s disappearance would still be difficult to explain. The other folks just don’t get off the plane (I wonder if they checked bags ) But Lapidus is (supposedly) an airline employee and his name appears all over the paperwork (assuming that hasn’t been taken care of).
Honestly, I’ve been on enough flights to know that, at least myself personally, I wouldn’t notice if five, six of the passengers disappeared. Tracking strangers in an aluminum tube isn’t something that people usually do.
Not sure. The island WANTED Locke to leave. Remember when Locke had his crisis of conscience? He lost his ability to walk temporarily. What the island giveth, the island taketh away.
If the flight attendants were still there, it would be noticed and reported. Especially when it was noted WHO had disappeared.
It really wouldn’t surprise me if the off-island others are able to cover up the passengers disappearing.
Unless they were “in on it” somehow. In fact, I think that’s pretty much required based on this point.
Okay, I am so freaking confused. These breaks between seasons are screwing with my memory. For one, how is Locke both alive and dead now? Secondly, how did they all get off the island again? I totally forgot! Oh, and how did Ben find Jack, and have they said why Jack’s listening to him?
