Locke’s alive and well, and walking on the smaller island off the main island. He’s with Caesar’s group, so I’m assuming he’s following the “present day” timeline. He’s probably the key that Sun and Ben need to get back to '77.
If nothing else, we know that island doubles are possible because Sawyer watched Kate and Claire in the jungle. There was no time that those two were on the island that Sawyer wasn’t.
In the “Locke fails to convince anyone to come back to the island and then is going to kill himself but then Ben changes his mind but then Locke mentions Daniel’s mother and then Ben strangles him with an extension cord” aka “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham” Locke wakes up on the beach after the crash, talks with Ceasar, and ends up looking at the wounded from the crash. One of them is Ben who, we now know, got his ass whacked with an oar by Sun.
When Hurley, Jack, and Kate met Sawyer, he said it was 1977. At the begining of the scene, the caption read “30 years earlier.” Does this mean the plane crash with Caesar, dead Locke, et al, are now in 2007, or did someone goof up the script?
I’m still hung up on the runway. Obviously someone, Ben probably, knew they were going to need a runway in the future, so they started clearing it in 2004 for Ben to use in 2007 (ensuring his “safe” landing?). But that means Ben got a peek into the future, right? That or Jacob told them to build the runway, and didn’t give an explanation.
::sigh:: I’m going to have to start watching the episodes again to see if I can pick up on anything.
Man, I feel fucking old. I woulda never guessed that Sun is younger than me (albeit just one year younger - she was 24 when they first crashed). I guess smart business attire makes any woman look mature.
I also woulda never guessed that Miles is older than Sun. Younger than me, yes. Older than Sun (so as to be a baby in the “Candlewick” scenes/videos)…no.
That’s not true. The 2004-2007 events are in their past. Already done. They could die in 1977 and it wouldn’t change anything about 2004-2007.
Last episode I thought to myself “Well, Sawyer and crew were Dharma for 3 years. They must’ve learned a ton about Dharma, the island, and the others. I wonder how the writers are going to keep any of that from every coming up.”
I was expecting something like: Jack: “So… uh… explain everything that you’ve learned in the last 3 years” Sawyer: “Well, okay…” [explosion in background, hectic action occurs, question is never brought up again].
The scene where Jack finds his way to Sawyer’s house (good job, by the way, dumbasses, hugging in the middle of the open - that wouldn’t look strange at all for a new recruit) - Sawyer and Jack are alone and able to talk as much as they want to. So what happens? Sawyer says “something I can help you with, Jack?” as if he had no idea what Jack might want. So yeah, the characters had alone time with each other, with massive amounts of info that Sawyer could share that Jack could want, and none of it was shared. The characters have become so retarded by this point that I spend half the episode rolling my eyes.
I actually kind of bought this. Remember, this was moments after Jack discovered that Sawyer and Juliet were apparently living together. That must have brought back all of his (Jack’s) jealousy and rivalrous feelings toward Sawyer all over again. Yes, I know Jack and Juliet weren’t ever officially a couple, but they were heading in that direction before Jack left the island. From Jack’s perspective, Sawyer keeps taking his girls.
While mature people may be able to put this stuff aside, we know Jack is far from mature. Immature, yes. Retarded, not so much.
Well - I can accept that as an explanation if tomorrow, or the next day, they sit down and discuss everything Sawyer has learned. But the chances of that are pretty small.
The characters on the show have always been implausibly uncommunicative, but right now it’s just such a ridiculous degree. Their motivations are illogical or non-existant, they’re just idiot boxes on two legs that walk from scene to scene.
