So, looks like Jack and Smokey were both right. Desmond pulling the cork will sink the island, but it also makes Smokey just a man, and able to be killed.
From ALT Desmond’s comments, I think that Des is getting the people together in the ALT world just so that they can remember and be together. But most of them are staying put in sideflashland – especially those who are otherwise dead in Island time. ALT Desmond is coming back, though – to help resolve island events. Makes me wonder if all other island Losties will die (maybe except for Jack – or perhaps even Jack, just not Desmond) – but living on in sideflashland.
Picking a fight on a rock slope a thousand feet in the air in the rain would not be my first choice.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The fact that Sun “remembered” her life and death with Jin is very confusing in this regard though, as is Locke’s seeming rebirth(?) as real Locke instead of fake Locke. Very interesting though.
