LOST 6.8 "Recon"

Think that was already clarified.

I actually think Dogen sent Sayid out expecting two different outcomes. Either Sayid kills Locke or Locke kills Sayid. Presumably there’s a special loophole to Locke just like for Jacob. Dogen wasn’t sure if Sayid could kill Locke or not. But either one of them dying was good in his book.

Bullshit. Locke dying was them winning the war. It wasn’t a “eh, whatever, either one is just as good” outcome.

There probably IS a loophole for killing Locke, but if there is, I don’t think the magic formula is Random Iraqi + Knife + Jungle Path = Dead Smokey.

I agree, but I did wonder why Sayid was able to thrust the dagger into him while Ilana’s crews bullets just bounced off of him. I chalk it up to dramatic effect.

That was definitely no ordinary knife.

A couple more thoughts (it’s so weird how these things pop up in my head hours after watching the episode).

Didn’t Locke sound almost scared when he said “I don’t want to die?” That felt like the most honest thing he’s said so far.

Also, that was a weird sentence to end the episode on. Pretty much every episode ends with some sort of little twist or line that makes you think “what’s gonna happen next?” But Sawyer planning on leaving by the sub as opposed to the airliner that’s on a sandy beach? Big shocker there.

That’s where I knew that guy from! He was Schillinger’s son on OZ!

Yeah at the end I was like, “Why is the music swelling? That wasn’t an ending line! Where’s the hook for next week?”

That ending music was super cheesy dramatic, too. Whoever was responsible for that was most likely responsible for the horrible CG submarine takeoff from [whatever season that was] and the cheesy submarine periscope from last week’s episode.

Sometimes Lost reminds me of a James Bond movie.

I still see him as Chip from Kate & Allie. Still waiting for Charlie to appear, nice little tease tonight…perhaps he gets involved in the ATL when Kate ends up in jail (presumably).

Sayid is so completely infected by the dark side that he won’t help Kate when Claire tries to kill her. sad

This is probably nothing, but when Sawyer looked at the crew that were assembling the sonic fence, my immediate reaction was that one of the workmen was - Sawyer. I rewound the scene and watched it slowly. Whoever it is has the same build, same color of hair, and same hairstyle. And his hair moves so that you can never see his face.

Probably just a coincidence of casting. But the show kind of makes you crazy like this.

Well when the Others still thought he was Locke, he did imply to Richard that they were going to kill the Ajira survivors. And Widmore did claim he wasn’t the one that killed them.

Obviously MIB could have easily left the island long ago if all that was required was transportation. Is it Jacob’s death that released him? Killing Dogen? Entering the temple? Or is there something else that still needs to happen? Why is he gathering followers? Why can’t he just turn the frozen donkey wheel to get away?

It was nice to see Charlie’s brother and Charlotte. Too bad Sawyer screwed up his date. Surprised he didn’t run into Anna Lucia given that she’s a cop too. I didn’t quite get why Kate crashed into him.

Claire seems like she might be getting a little better. Did she really have the ‘sickness’ or had she just gone a little wacky from being alone in the woods? Does Sayid really have the sickness or did he just make a devil’s bargain? Both of them seem to be in situations more complicated than indicated by Rousseau’s team’s symptoms.

What!?!? Please clarify.

Charlie’s brother was in the police station - the guy who was pestering the desk sergeant then Sawyer. He’s the clean with funky glasses version, not the junkie guyliner version.

It was good to see Charlotte again. I have a soft spot for redheads…and a not-so-soft spot for them too. Yeah, that’s probably TMI. Sorry.

How did Sawyer suddenly know that Zoe was lying? He called her out the instant she said “my boyfriend” when asked what was in Guam. Were we supposed to know how that tipped him off?

I don’t think it was meant to be one clue. He’s just a really good liar, so he’s good at spotting others.
