Lucifer Season Five

I also heard/read something about season six having 17 episodes to bring the series total to 100.

Ever want to take characters in a show by shoulders, shake them, say “You IDIOTS!” and then explain what the hell is wrong with their reasoning/action?

My theory on Chloe’s Season 5 issues with Lucifer (and some of Lucifer’s issues about… everything):

Lucifer became physically vulnerable around Chloe as an actualized metaphor for opening up. Now that they’ve moved on to another phase of their relationship he has become emotionally vulnerable. Her being able to desire-mojo him (and him alone, apparently) is Lucifer being vulnerable in a different way when Chloe is around. His vulnerability has changed, not gone away. He needs to be physically invulnerable again, especially with Michael around, so he’s “weak” in a different way. And really, for him, being emotionally vulnerable is a lot more scary than physically vulnerable.

As for Chloe - will you STOP listening to that piece of shit Michael? As Lucifer told you, plainly - he’s been to hell and back twice for you, sweetheart, and in his case that is not simply an expression or metaphor. Actions over words, evidence over words - you’re a detective, act like one. Lucifer has demonstrated love, you shouldn’t have to force him to say it. I mean, shit, Michael could say the words, but they wouldn’t mean anything, right? Love isn’t what you say, it’s what you do.

I am still a little weirded out by Tom Ellis using an American accent.

Is anyone else getting Richard III vibe off Michael? Also, Michael’s right wing is deformed - WTF could have caused that? There’s not much that can hurt angels, especially permanently (although there are things that can do it, as Lucifer’s demonstrates by carving up Michael’s face with a hell blade - it’s just that such things aren’t common) Looks like it was broken really badly at some point in the past and didn’t heal well. Broken so badly it affects his right arm and shoulder as well. Hmm… could that possibly be connected to the failed rebellion against God?

Just caught up til ep 8. Am I the only one who saw the Pete reveal coming from a mile away? I thought so when they first strated tracking the killer that something was up.
I do like how they are exploring some issues that were left unresolved in the earlier seasons. In particular the issue of Lucifers behaviour around Chloe. Also the status of Charlie. Maze being without a soul is a bit of a drag to me, it seems like a rehash of an earlier plot where she was angry. Although now it is explicated that those are abandonement issues. I didn’t like that she didn’t get a real conversation with Lily Rose, but I see why the writers chose that direction as it would become too easy if they could have talked it out, and they need Maze in Michaels team.
Broomstick, about your theory, I like it, makes sense, although it gets complicated in how it works out, it seems to match what is going on currently. And Ii agree that the ‘I love you’ is overblown by Chloe. But to be fair she has had to put up with a lot.
About the end of ep 8: just a few minutes before I was thinking while the boys are all fighting that tehri dad is really terribly absent as he just lets Michael go ablout pestering his brothers. Then dad did show up.

I’m totally convinced that Lily Rose’s “soul” is in that ring and that Lucifer giving it to her will endow Maze with that soul.

They are definitely trying to convey that idea.

Either that, or that ring is how Chloe becomes immortal and solve the problem of her dying (eventually) and going to heaven, separating her and Lucifer forever. It’s either that, or Lucifer gets issued a day pass or something to visit Chloe. I do not think Lucifer wants Chloe down in hell with him - Lucifer doesn’t want to be in hell, either, after all.

In the Sandman universe, it is possible for all sorts of people, including humans, to be immortal (sometimes inexplicably), or to be dead but later come back to life, so anything goes, really.

I think Maze already has her soul, she just doesn’t know it. I forget where for certain (maybe ep 6?), but she was crying - that seems completely out of character for a soul-less demon. Linda told her she was growing (and she is), so having at least a proto-soul doesn’t seem unreasonable.

Just look at the difference between Maze and the demons in “Who’s Da New King of Hell” - Maze isn’t like the rest of them, even if she used to be. Living in the human world has changed her. So maybe she’s “grown” a soul, or a proto-soul. Or maybe she’s earned a soul somehow. I look forward to seeing how that plays out.

Why does she want, or think she wants, a soul (whatever that amounts to), again? You would think that after all this time with Lucifer his defiance of immutable celestial laws, and the people who enforce them, would have rubbed off on her.

The fact that she wants a soul is evidence she’s not a typical demon, which would no more want a soul than a typical human would want to be soulless. She wants one because she’s discovered things like friendship and affection and interpersonal connections which, from things she has said, are very clearly things demons do NOT get in their normal lives in hell. That’s how living among live humans has changed her.

I figured out early that

That SOMETHING was wrong with Pete

But I didn’t figure out

that he was the serial killer until early in episode 8 (when he mentioned he had extensive notes on the Whisper Killer

I don’t think it is a spoiler to say the ending sets up some interesting plot lines for season 6.

SQUEEEEEE!!! It’s here, it’s HERE!!! [/fangirl]

Since I’m a night person I kind of hate that my current work schedule has me going to bed at 7 and up at 3 am most of the time, but in a rare upside that meant I could get an early start on Season 5B.

Have the first two under my belt as of 5 am (have to break to get some stuff done - adult responsibilities keep interfering with my hobbies. Poo.)

Not going to spoiler anything yet because I assume most folks are just waking up, but while I had some concerns about how God was going to be written I’ve actually been very satisfied with how that is going. Some absolutely hilarious stuff mixed in with the usual murder cases, some additional subtle humor.

OK, one line, from Detective Douchebag to Amenadiel “Was your mother inhabiting Charlotte’s body … when I was inhabiting Charlotte’s body?” Yep, there’s a reason Dan drinks…
