Lucifer, Season Three

I can see it finding a home at the CW, since they’re making their mark with DC-based series and picked up Supergirl. Why not collect them all?

The past two episodes were good ones, and it’s frustrating that the series might end at this point. It was something they needed to do, and sets up a fascinating storyline if it continues.

Holy crap, that was a good finale! Maze and Lucifer are back, and Chloe has seen the devil face. And Lucifer didn’t wimp out on killing Cain. The investigation started off a little shaky, why didn’t they at least have someone follow Pierce? But the last 5 or 10 minutes were very epic.

From what I hear, the campaign to save the show is having an impact. There are solid numbers (in the millions) and this is a really good week to share those with the networks, since they’re working on their new line ups.

Oh yeah, it was excellent! The show is back to its old self.

I agree, that was the best episode all season. Very satisfying.

If that ends up being the final episode, they ended in a decent place all things considered. Amenadiel’s arc reached a satisfying end. Charlotte found the redemption she wanted. Chloe got the answer she needed, if not the one she wanted. Lucifer reached a catharsis of his own. Really only Maze and…the little therapist woman whose name escapes me…got left hanging. For an unanticipated series finale…it could have been much worse.

Linda. I thought they had a fairly good making up, but I still don’t know what Maze’s problem was to begin with. I guess she was just new to emotions like love and jealousy and couldn’t handle them.

They could have made a whole episode out of Maze escaping and I’d watch it.

I hope it gets picked up, but still, I’ll be OK if not. These last two episodes were great and I can’t believe they would have been nearly as good if the series hadn’t been cancelled and the writers had to wind things up. The status quo was getting beyond stale. This way there is an end. Plus, if there is a new series, it can pick-up where it left off, or start over.

I’m a little confused that killing Cain brought the devil face back - certainly not a solidly immoral act (since Cain would have chased down all of Chloe’s loved ones), and certainly nothing to cause regret in Lucifer (which seems to this world’s hell (and boy am I in trouble when I die).

I think it’s because he finally accepted himself for who he was, and took responsibility for it.

I think it’s not because of killing Cain, per se. It’s not even because he tortured Cain by reminding him repeatedly that he is a monster, so that Cain would be shunted into hell. It’s because he enjoyed torturing him.

Anyone heard if the show has been picked up by another network?

So I managed to not know that there were two “bonus episodes” of Lucifer on last night. (Stand-alones that apparently don’t resolve the cliff-hanger from the end of the season.)

With the season finale of iZombie airing (and with the final of Lucifer having already been aired) I didn’t even think to look…

Brian

I really enjoyed both of the new episodes! I was offline for the three-day weekend; otherwise, I would have sent out an alert about them.

In the first one, with Azrael, there was a line that Chloe says to Ella about “having seen things” that, to me, clearly indicate that she was still working thru the realization of Lucifer having been honest. Also note there was no Maze, Amedadeal, Pierce or CHarlotte in the episode. The acting in that one also felt very wooden and stilted - it didn’t flow well compared to earlier episodes - almost like everyone pretty much phoned it in.

The second one with the alternate timeline - I thought was fantastic all around - this is the Lucifer I want to see more of. Dr. Linda indeed.

I agree. Didn’t care for the first one - it felt way too disjointed, like they couldn’t figure out what they wanted to do. They raised the whole Furry angle, then dropped it without exploring it at all. Made me wonder why they even bothered to include it–did they have some furry suits lying around they needed to use? Also, I’m not a big Charlyne Yi fan (didn’t like her in House, either) so I wasn’t a fan of their choice for Azrael.

I enjoyed the second one quite a bit more. And it’s always nice to hear Tom Ellis sing.

I liked last nights episodes. The first was just ok until the end with the Azrael reveal and her saying she just wanted her two favorite people to be together and then Lu taking interest in what Lopez was doing.

I really liked the alternate timeline one with God narrating. It was a fun episode and I didn’t pick up that it was Neil Gaimans voice until his ending comments.

For those that didn’t know Neil Gaiman came up with this particular Luficer in his Sandman comics that as mentioned upthread Mike Carey took that character and did a run with it in the Lucifer comics. Which is what the first episode of this show is based on.

I too enjoyed both of the bonus episodes, and am glad we got to see them. I didn’t really buy the motivations of Azreal, but an Ella-centric episode was nice. Dan and Lucifer teaming up was pretty amusing too.

The second episode with Lucifer and Chloe re-meeting under different circumstances made me want to watch the real first episode again. I liked badass chop shop Ella who still did scientific analysis, and the end with Dan and Charlotte driving off with Lucifer’s money. I was confused by Mazikeen confronting Charlotte during the robbery though, and who were Mazikeen’s masked crew supposed to be?

I re-watched season 1 episode 1 right after, it still holds up great and both Lucifer and Chloe are much less Flanderized.

I note that ABC has an opening in their schedule. Maybe they’d be interested in picking up “Lucifer”?

I was hoping for more “furry”, as well. That always makes me laugh!
