M-O-O-N that spells MMP

Happy Friday, mumpers! The weather gods are all indecisive today, it was raining early but now it’s sunny and humid but there’s a mahooosive grey cloud over the next street.

Still heard nothing back from last week’s interview so I am guessing that’s a rejection (nor a surprise really, and also not sure I really wanted it). Good news is that I have another application in and have an interview for that on 6th August, this time via MS Teams rather than Zoom. I had to book the interview myself using their online system and it gave me only one day/time option so I took that one - makes no difference to me, I don’t have to go anywhere.

Typically I then get an email from my current workplace threatening me with a protracted meeting about timetabling. On the feckin’ same day! Bet it’s the same time as well. That’s going to be awkward.

Moooom does the little house have your seal of approval? Will it be close enough to you for extended bouts of Roxy-wrangling?

In other news, the kitchen at our favourite local pub is now open and we are booked in for dinner tonight. Nepalese curry is in my future!

BooFae - I wouldn’t choose the little house for myself, but I think it’s a good choice for their first place - small enough to be manageable but with decent room sizes and it’s in really good condition for a 38-y/o house. They’ll be roughly between us and SIL’s family, plus his sister lives in the same development, altho not within walking distance. Anyway, I’ll be Roxy’s day care, so I’ll get lots of wrangling time. But my weekends will be peaceful.

One thing I think is especially good for them - it’s on public water and sewer, so they don’t have to deal with well and septic. Daughter was terrified of having a well, considering our replacement well 12 years ago cost over $8K…

So, yes, it gets my seal of approval, and not just because I want them out on their own. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I’m now showered and dressed, in case anyone was wondering. :tshirt: :shorts:

Happy Firday!

It’s a cloudy muggy day outside.
Quiet day at the park.

I got home too late to take a shower before taking the truck in to be fixed, but early enough to have some down time. I’ll put on a clean shirt before I go.

Good luck with the house FCM
Hope all goes well

The magnets never hurt anything Nettie You just pop the phone into a case that has magnets in the back of it and it sticks to the magnets in the folio case. They aren’t real strong magnets though, one time Echo bumped the case and my phone fell out. If somebody hadn’t told me, I never would have noticed. That’s why I want a zipper or snap to close the case, not just a little flap.

Got paid today, have no idea HTH they are calculating it.
I put in a request for an explanation but still haven’t heard back.
At least it’s more than I calculated it to be.

You asked, they haven’t bothered to answer. Take the extra money with a smile, and see if the same “miscalculation” appears on the next paycheck! (Maybe you got a raise? Hazard pay or bonus due to the 'Rona?)

I slept until 5 minutes after I shoulda been AT irk, if today was not a Blessed Day Off All To Myself, so that felt deliciously subversive.

I’ve also spent the last solid hour derping around here & playing my own dumb phone game (Plants vs. Zombies, I’ve kept up with it daily for years) which has also felt delicious.

So was breakfast.

I’m supposed to have a rat buyer come by today, so I suppose I must needs shevel myself to some extent. (Gentle readers and fellow Mumpers, you may be surprised to learn that rodent people are not, as a general rule, much inclined toward ostentatious displays of pomp or fancy clothin’ and such. I know, I know, 'tis shocking for some to learn!)

So pretty much the same level of puhrdyfication required to be acceptable at Wally Woyld, which is to say … barely any.

The giant scab on my arm is starting to come off. I guess about a third of it has come off already. The two large remaining bits are about half lifted. I really want to pick them off. Mrs. L.A. would yell at me though, and I’d start bleeding. But man, they’re taunting me to pick them off!

I’ve been neglecting this thread due to a mopey mood this week, but there was no way to pass over this post! :scream: Way to shake a woman out of her lassitude! :+1:t3:

Morning all. Stay in bed past 8am today after mowing the yard yesterday, so of course the 60% chance of rain today went down to 20%…weather be weird in N. Ali-bama. Nothing much on the agenda for today, so I’ll spend the morning on my puzzles and reading.

flyboy, waaaayy too much information!! That said, I think everyone has the same reaction to nearly-completed scabs.

FCM, hope the kids get the place. Your house plans sound a lot like what I did this year. On furniture shopping, do you have a “Furniture Row” store in the vicinity. The gave me best value for price and did a great job on delivery and overall service.

Sari, I’m with purp, go one take the money and run. Just bank the extra in case.

purp, having a rat buyer visit is…not a phrase I hear very often. Hope the deal goes well. And just a hint from a old (67) guy–you never get caught up–never, never, never. So don’t worry about it and take a nap with the cat.

boo fae, good luck with the new interview. And hope you can get the present job meeting re-scheduled.

OK, BLT’s are on the menu so I need to be about it. Take care all.

Holy socks, Batman! A B.L.T sounds darn fine.

Glad I saw this just before heading to Wally Woild to return a bra, and to see about this whole “redeeming bottles’n’cans for money” thing. (I have a few of those, and I like money!)

Assuming one or both transactions goes off as planned, I’ll simply recycle that back into sammich fixin’s.

I do have the fresh bacon … just missing the tomato and lettuce. And fresh bread.

Shoot, do I even own mayo?

Hello. Bad Mumper again. It has rained everyday this week except today so I have been doing a lot of sleeping. Wonderful rain on the tin roof sleeping. The storm that is bound for Texas was forming right over us.

I went to irk on Wed and stopped off and introduced myself to the new Director. I have not yet formed an opinion one way or the other and with us both wearing masks it was even harder to read him. I guess he’s OK. I hope he is the one.

Other than sleep I am slothful. That was the only time I left the house this week though I have a grocery list so that may or may not happen today. I have read some but am now off to read everything in the MMP.

Since it’s cooler and overcast, I took my walk after lunch and really didn’t sweat at all. I couldn’t go earlier because the RoxStar woke early and I had to peel her banana and make her toast and pour her juice - I swear, that kid is soooooooooo needy!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Supper will be pizza. I’ve got enough receipts to get a freebie from Pizza Hotline, and I’ll order one other because they won’t just deliver a freebie - you need to order at least $15. So that’s the plan. And we have salad makin’s for the healthy part.

It’s been a good, mostly lazy day. I should probably go scoop the cat box, tho.

Getting ready for a big clinical day–what part of the room does my webcam show? Will it be less disruptive to leave sleeping cats lie or experience angry cats thumping at the door?

My weight hasn’t been this low since 2002 or 3. I am being diligent about decreased treats and sloth.

With you there, although I have to settle for the rain plinking on the metal roofs of the two obsolete campers 8 feet away from my bedroom windows, in my cranky neighbors driveway. Still a pretty sound that lulls me to sleep every time.

Next favorite environmental sound is cars driving on brick streets. Ah, the good life. Still looking for that sound on a white noise app for my phone.

Leave sleeping cats lie. Learned that the hard way. Zoom or FaceTime callers ask if I’m ok when the thumping commences, they get especially alarmed once the Siamese she-devil starts yowling, outraged that her will is being thwarted.

Thanks for sharing!

Similar here. I’ve shed almost 80# in the last year anna half, and more recently, I’ve been making a concerted effort to take a brisk walk at least every other day, if not daily. What has amazed me are the bones I’m now feeling when I wash - wait - THOSE are my ribs??? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Pizza has been ordered, and I’m going to cut up some cukes - else I’ll eat too much pizza. Daughter has submitted her bid. Theoretically, they’ll close the end of next month, assuming the offer is accepted. The only unknown (besides a yes/no answer) involves probate and the estate of the late owner - will it cause a delay in the sale? But it’s not a huge deal since she’s got a place to live - it’s not like her lease will be up or anything.

So now we wait - for an answer and for pizza.

Played “Death Jenga” in a 53 footer, with bonus falling box of lawn mover blades. So all in all a nirmal boring shift.

Butters!

Boo counterpoint: Every Zoom call I’ve done has ended up featuring Alex Catt’s bunghole. :cat:

Pictures or it didn’t happen. :stuck_out_tongue:

Skipped the park this afternoon since the dogs weren’t bugging me to go.

Truck got fixed and I didn’t have to pay for it.

Hope you don’t have to go through all the crap I went through with the estate when I bought my house, FCM

Going to go take a long hot shower before I have to go back to irk.
Still can’t figure out the paycheck, guess I should just stop worrying about it.

Pics or it didn’t … ah, never mind. Any cat owner is set for life on that.

Bet your Zoom attendees were amused, though!

@susan let the cats in’n’out. A cat is always on the wrong side of a closed door, anyway. Your peeps are less likely to mind a bit of kitty videobombing than yowling/thumping/scratching.

I will warn you, when I did CSR work from home, my headset had a mute/power button halfway down the cord. Guess what Nikki targeted during her “want attention!” attacks?

So, I completed many errands but forgot the lotto ticket for a dollah. Oh, well, it’s not like I won’t go to Dah Corner Sto’ again anytime soon.
Is there some time limit to redeem? I have, like, a coupla days, right?

Pharmacy trip is complete, previous laundry is put away, and next laundry is on the drying rack.

Nikki thinks that, instead, I made her a little blanket fort. HA! Joke’s on her … actually, I adulted successfully and was productive.

She is alternately guarding my sheets & undies & work shirts, and crashed out asleep under them.

I completed my little adventure in redeeming cans’n’bottles for the first time. I am now the proud owner of … drumroll … sixty cents worth of voucher receipts.

I solemnly promise not to spend it all in one place.

As promised, I procured a head of butter lettuce, coupla tomatoes, and a bagful of cheap but fresh kaiser rolls. There’s also a small bit of sirloin in the fridge … I suspect that one shall be Dinner v 1.0 and the other Dinner v 2.0 although the oracles have not yet spoken with certainty which is which.

In the meantime, I was thirsty and wanted something light, so - in deference to These Uncertain Times - I made a (hopefully immune boosting) late lunch, consisting of homemade chicken soup, simmered with carrots, celery, onions, and enough garlic to scare off a roomful of vampires.

Plus ABC pasta, because that’s good for yer brain.

I like that recording of the poem metal mouse. Did you know that he was the lyricist for A Boy Named Sue?

Good luck with the the interview boofae!

Irked, knocked off about 1:30, bought groceries, came home and took a short nap. Getting ready to take Nelson to the dog park now. He’s been out for a week and a half. First it was my allergies, then his antibiotics.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Point taken. So far so good with my 3, although I have had callers ask me to move off screen and put the cats back on…

Have you considered these for Alex Cat? http://www.twinkletush.com/
