Good luck in finding a copy, flyboy; Asimov was always one of my favorite writers (oh, and I guess that makes us MMPers among the elite, doesn’t it??).
Sari, ah, the Indiana Jones way of life: I don’t know, I’m making this up as I go .
FCM, to paraphrase an old German military saying, " Everything is very simple in life , but the simplest thing is difficult." Hope the Gordian knot gets untangled on the house.
Nettie, hope your insides are feeling better.
flyboy, much thanks for the update; I couldn’t sleep not knowing if the scab was still in place or not…(/sarcasm)
herald, glad the rehab (for whatever problem) went well.

Metal Mouse you’re such a sweetheart.
Well of course I am…
OK, it’s 81F at 8:30 in the morning, so I need to break fast and get about life. All y’all have a good Sattiday.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, puppy crate cleaned, a load of towels in the wash and fixing to do KP. Once Saturday chores are done, I’ll loaf…er, create something in the studio until it cools down enough to take Nelson to the dog park.
Metal Mouse, you’re making me drool. Butter pecan ice cream is one of the flavors I miss, along with Tin Roof Sundae. Might have to go find some recipes. We figured out orange sherbet last year - need to buy the ingredients on Monday. It’ll still be good ice cream weather.
Howdy Y’all! Weather be willy-nilly in these parts. Gets all cloudy and then N.O.S., wash, rinse, repeat. So, I went ahead and baked the pound cake, cause, why not. I have also macerated strawberries. I feel so domestic! We may still head out to the cee-mint pond if the right now N.O.S. weather holds. Or not. Willy-nilly rules the day around here.
Baskin-Robbins was two blocks from where I used to work, and I used to go there for lunch sometimes. People often gave me funny looks when they saw me walking through the snow wearing a short-sleeved shirt and eating an ice-cream cone…
Metal Mouse, rehab is a followup on my open-heart surgery in November. (Response from one friend: “You have a heart?”) It’s a 12-week programme, so I should have finished it already – but there was this three-month shutdown in the middle of it.
Up, fed, and caffeinated (in that order), but not dressed. The only thing I have planned for today is reading, though I should break out the weedwhacker again. It’s NOS, 81 with a predicted high of 84, but it’s supposed to be like this – or worse – most of the next week.
The acceptable sleeping habits have gone all out the window, and I appear to have reverted to a classic student ‘surface at lunch time’ kind of schedule, which is not ideal. It leaves me feeling all washed out and dozy and uninclined to do much. Combined with the paucity of things to do, it leaves me with not much to write about… Oh well. I have been reading, just not retaining information.
I’ve got the motor running on the sewing machine, after using it hand cranked for the last few years- what with the mask requirement, the world’s sewing machines are going to be wondering what’s happening. I appear to be out of suitable thread aside from the expensive glow-in-the-dark stuff, which will come in useful one of these decades I’m sure. I may actually have a trip to a fabric shop on Monday, rather than buying everything online (ps, I have never bought bees online- my current bees were freebees, the previous lot were from a bloke down the road. I believe in getting local when it comes to bees).
Afternoon all. Eating my Big Bowl O’Sallit tonight sans croutons and bacon bits (forgot to put them on the list this week). A pretty much nothing day, did unload the dishwasher and clean up a little bit around the kitchen, so there is that.
Nut, congrats on the sewing motor success. I can remember my mom and her old Singer machine patching stuff my brother and I had torn.
flyboy, sounds like a good dinner or a kinky day. Best of luck either way…
herald, we’ve got lots of folks recovering here–FCM’s hubby, Butter’s hubby…so we’ll be understanding.
Dicey, no ice cream places near you? The stand I visit is about a 4-minute drive from my place (and they use real pecans–big one, too).
And FCM, do not tempt me to go get another cone…I’m too far overweight already!
And that’s all the excitement here at Casa Rat. Might see a little rain this evening, but I think swampy has the better chance.
One of our managers has started bringing in cucumbers and zucchini. I foresee more! I brought one of each home - there’s a small hunk o’cow prepped for tonight, so a stuffed baked zucchini shall likely be tomorrow’s dinner. Tonight I may have a sliced cuke with my meat.
So much fruit and veg in my diet all of a sudden!
At least Sundays are a shorter shift. I’z tahred, y’all!
VET was less insane than last week… I also sorted 1 Wayfair box, and three boxes marked “Q” (UPS: we ship conspiracies directly to your home!) Dinner tonight was spicy panko fish with Five Spice rice and stir fried green beans, peppers, and snow peas with a rice vinegar sauce. ?With a martini. And some Yuengling.
May I…see pictures of your meat? :nudge, nudge. wink, wink :
FCM, now I want ice cream, but I don’t wanna go out. Can you fix that for me, please? : crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages for the house :
