M-O-O-N that spells MMP

Afternoon all! Laaaazy start to the day- I’ve been good lately about getting up at a semi-reasonable time, but not today. Oh well, all I had to do was go to the fruit 'n veg place, which has been achieved.

There ain’t much of a story behind working at an Aussie rose farm; I got one of those one year yoof work-and-travel visas (did a year in NZ first- definitely my favourite of the two), so spent a year doing all sorts of odd, largely agricultural type jobs, all over the country. The rose farm was the nicest place I worked in Australia; the owner was a good guy, while a lot of the people I worked for basically scammed the staff on holiday visas, knowing that they’d probably get away with it. T’was an education, at least.

Morning all. Up at 0630 and I have a long list of things to do that I have been neglecting for a couple of days. Shopping, laundry, changing bed sheets, sweeping…but first shaving and taking a long, hot bath I think. shoe has got me inspired.

Change of rain this morning, but it’s heading back to 91F today, so probably need to do the outside runs first. Now just need to motivate myself…

Boo fae, sounds like you out of all of us might be able to keep up with Roxy–Lord know it would kill me…

3B, glad you’re figuring the site out, so you can explain it to me when I start messing up.

FCM, good news on the brother front, and I know what you mean when you get a KA-BOOOOOOM right overhead…will shake you up.

nellie, good on ya for not letting them get away with it. People see clerks slacking off, they think that they can do the same. Folks down here in Ali-bama have been pretty good on that score.

gotti, y’all make sure to anchor that good…those temp tents have a predilection to take flight now and then…but good luck to PWAISDN

And best I finish my browsing and get about cleaning up and making myself presentable to the rest of humanity. All y’all take care now.

In Mumperland, all of the food will be yummy but will have no fat, cholesterol, etc. so we’ll all look ravishing as we float around in Swampy’s cee-ment pond, and we’ll all look marvelous in our gold lame’ thongs.

Welcome, newest inmate in the asylum!

[Looks around and whispers quietly]: They’re all crazy here (except me, of course).

Bah. Got milk at the fruit 'n veg place; opened it and it was decidedly Not On. Had to walk back and swap it for a new one * assumes position of woe *.

Tis still nice and sunny round here, though it’s supposed to go all showery tomorrow. I kinda feel like I should go out for walkies, but I have a case of the dontwannas, and besides, I actually like it more when it’s a bit wet, 'cos it’s a lot quieter, which is nice even when not officially socially distancing.

So, I did end up gettin’ purtified and donnin’ bein’ about the public attire to go do a thing. The thing was to go renew my tag sticker thingy for twuck. It needed doin’ by next Tuesday, so I sucked it up and did. Woe and bother. Anywho, since I was in da ‘Burg, I decided to check out the IGA Sto’. They had some nice fresh local grown corn, so I got six ears. We both like fresh corn. OYKW lurves corn on the cob but I do not like gnawin’ on corn cobs, so I cut it off the cob to eat. So, corn is definitely on the menu for tomorrow. Also, since I was in the general area, I went to the produce stand we like and got some fresh 'maters, squishes, green beans and a water melon. Fresh veggies in our sup future!

I think some quality cee-mint pond time may be in order shortly just cause.

Been an exciting day here - I went with Daughter and SIL to look at a house that we thought had promise… till we found out it has been vacant for 10 years and the state of the well and septic is unknown. Plus when there was water in the basement after last night’s rain. So the house is a no-go, but we really like the realtor, so we’ll be working with her exclusively.

After we got back from that adventure, I ran to Aldi, then Food Lion, with a final stop at the dollar store because I need a baster. They didn’t have one so I still need a baster. Not sure if there’s some place closer than WalMart where I might get one.

Anyway, I scored some ground beef, so I’ll be making a mega pot o’sketty sauce plus a meatloaf. I also got a 3# sack of frozen 85/15 burger patties for $10 - yay! The balance of my day may be spent in the kitchen.

But for now, it’s lunch time. Finally!

For the last several months my mouse has been acting up. About a third of the time it would click, another third it wouldn’t click, and the other third it would double click. Maddening, but I dealt with it. I finally broke down and ordered a new mouse - I just got it in the mail. It’s a cheap little non-rechargeable wireless number but it clicks correctly. I feel like I just shook loose a pebble that’s been in my shoe for five miles.

Cloudy right now, which is probably a relief for the garden. I pulled all the old broccoli stalks yesterday so we can plant more starts, if we ever leave the house. Harvested some sweet Italian peppers (still green, but I wanted to try them); stuffed them with cooked ground beef, pine nuts, shallot, garlic, and Italian sausage seasoning; fried them filling-side down in olive oil, flipped them, then added chicken broth to the pan and covered it until the peppers were cooked through. I had extra stuffing so I stuffed a few small summer squash as well. Delicious!

I’m planning to do a few house tasks today, including wet vac of the carpet where the cat threw up, cutting up a HEPA filter to make face mask liners, and reading. My former employer failed to submit my retirement forms to the state, so there’s some follow-up to be done there.

Yesterday I walked 14 km (about 8.5 m) on the treadmill, so I’ll walk less today and perhaps not eat oil-drenched vegetables for dinner. The CSA box comes today–tomatoes and cukes (both of which are starting to come on in our garden), basil (which we also grow, but we need more for pesto), criminis, and a small steak.

Well, I may have temporarily “taken care” of my problem with time management. I went to the library last Friday - wore a mask, walked in after having my temp taken, grabbed a book I’d had on hold, checked it out and left, grabbing a pump of hand sanitizer along the way. The whole process took about 5 minutes. BUT, turns out that an employee in that library tested positive this week. So…not planning to hang out with my mom until next week at the very, very earliest. No symptoms (yet), but I would never forgive myself if I gave it to her.

Happy Hump Day!

At least it isn’t so hot outside today.
We got lots of rain last night, along with wind, thunder and lightning.

Upstairs toilet got fixed this morning, he couldn’t get here yesterday. However, he said to keep an eye on it because I might need a new toilet, Downstairs toilet needs a part which he will order and get back to me when it comes in. He seems to be very busy.
Good for him.

Now I have a problem with the truck. There is water on the passenger seat floor and I don’t know where it is coming from. I thought the bottle of all purpose cleaner I carry in the truck was leaking, but that is not it. I noticed it again yesterday when I took the neighbor to his doctor. Not only is the floor mat wet but the carpet under it is soaked. My neighbor said it could be something with the AC, something about the pan being clogged?
So I need to call the dealer, my truck should still be under warranty.

I was thinking I should have posted my little rant, it surely would have gotten me banned from NextDoor and my account would be closed.

Got through to irk on my first try yesterday. As I suspected, I am not the only one with payroll comfusion, and so they are supposed to get back to me sometime. I have been assured that the mistake that is online is only online and is correct in the system. We’ll see when the 1099s come out. However, I have no idea how much I will get on this week’s pay because I was told the information I have is correct. Last week’s pay didn’t calculate correctly, and no matter how I jiggle with the numbers I can’t even come close to what I did make.
I wouldn’t care so much but I am limited to how much I can make in a year, or I will have problems with my health insurance.

My doctor’s office called me today, she is getting on my nerves, She wants to see me every two to three months as it is and there is no good reason for it. Now she is calling me, wanting me to check my BP and weight again. If she weren’t so nice I’d tell her to FO and go find somebody else. She already told me my insurance may not cover televisits anymore and she is not coming back into her office until there is a vaccine for covid. Well, good luck with that one. Other doctors are seeing patients, so maybe I start looking. Of course if my insurance won’t cover televisits, I’m not paying for the visits. So that could eliminate the issue right there.
I have enough shit to deal with with a broken toilet, a leaky truck, a kid who needs an ID or learner’s permit, another doctor who wants to perform a procedure that requires me to have somebody come with me to drive me home, a friggin covid test before I go, and no idea what time I am supposed to show up. They will call me a few hours before I need to be there. I’m not sure how that is supposed to irk when I have all kinds of stuff I am supposed to do a various times before the procedure. HTF am I supposed to ask somebody to be ready to take me to the doctor’s office, sit there for a few hours, and then drive me home, when I have no idea what time I am supposed to show up? Sure just ask somebody to give up their whole flippin day. I don’t have those kind of people around me. I suppose if my son gets his LP he could do it. He has to have a licensed driver in the vehicle, it doesn’t say the licensed driver has to be coherent.

I got an email from AT&T yesterday, telling me they are upgrading their system and OAOASO’s phone won’t irk with the new system. Didn’t sound right to me, so I sent him a text asking what kind of phone he has. I never know what he has because he breaks/loses phones all the time. Usually leaves them on the truck somewhere and drives off without them, or even better, runs over them. No answer of course, so I call AT&T. Why can they not tell you right up front that it is a scam? Why do I have to give all kinds of information, have them look up my account, ask me what kind of phone he is using, when I already told them I don’t know and they have the ability to see it on their end anyway? I suspected it was a scam. Of course hours later OAOASO texted me what kind of phone he is using, which I already knew because AT&T told me, and wanted to know why I wanted to know, even though I had already sent him a text telling him nevermind not to worry about it because it was a scam.
So if any of y’all get an email from AT&T telling you that a phone on your account is not compatible with their upgrade, it’s a scam.

And I though y’all were being wordy today.

3B (which makes me think blonde, boobs, and butt, so you are probably better as Boo, except then someone might confuse you with BooFae) there is a reason I refer to it as TacoHell. There is nothing on the menu that is a favorite, however, it is very convenient when I am driving home from the dog park. My only other options are McD’s, or Roy Rogers, which is on the way home but difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. I’d have a lot more options if home was in the opposite direction. My son likes TB, though.

Good to see you back Kai. Sorry you are going through so much.

I agree with WetOne, we must have horses.

Glad FCBB is doing well.

Glad your HWH got fixed shoe. Going without hot water is a pain.

I got some laundry done this morning. The dishwasher just finished. I cleaned the dog drool off the walls in the stairwell while the toilet was being fixed.
I should try calling the mva again today, and I still need to call about the truck.
I feel like I should be doing something besides sitting here typing out a book.

Afternoon all. Load 3 of 4 is in the washing machine, while load 2 is spinning in the dryer. All shopping completed and I managed to un-package a new mouse without cutting the cord.

Sari, sometimes ya just gotta’ rant, and this is the place for it. Hang in there/

talkative, {{ }} (at a socially responsible distance) and hope you’re clear.

suze, that’s a lot of walking…I just got tired reading that…

Bats, I have had the same problems, just got a new mouse, we’ll see if that solves my issues.

Nut, don’t they have ‘sell by’ dates on the milk? We do here, I always look to get the longest expiration date possible.

OK, need to check if clothing is dry and maybe even hang them up. All y’all have a good afternoon.

Blockquote

@Jack_Batty,

Flip the wonky mouse upside down. Detach the little door, and take the ball out (hide from cat)

Using Q-tips and rubbing alcohol, clean off the three little rollers inside. You may need to use a fingernail to get the stubborn gunk off. Put the ball back inside the mouse, click the the little door back in place, and the mouse should work like new.

~VOW

Note: I used the reply-and-quotes directions above, so if it’s screwed up, feel free to come after me and beat me to smithereens with a busted mouse.

Later add: obviously it didn’t work. I guess I’m too stupid to figure it out. Or you guys give crappy directions. Don’t worry. It’s me, not you.

The truck goes in Firday, and it’s probably the AC vent is blocked. It’s not covered by warranty as it’s not a defect, but is supposed to be @$50 and only take a half hour.
We’ll see.
It’s probably clogged up from all those damn helicoptors. They are everywhere.

The sun was shining, now it looks like it is going to pour rain any minute.

MetalMouse - I shouldn’t really rant and complain. My issues are minor compared to many. I’m just in a bitchy mood and everything is plucking my nerves.

There’s a double batch of sketty sauce simmering on the stove, a newly built meatloaf in the freezer, and some chickie wings and strips bagged and in the freezer. The dishwasher is halfway thru its cycle. After I rest a bit, I have 2 cantaloupes to clean and chunk. The last one was inhaled pretty fast because it was YUM!!!

VOW - first click Reply at the bottom right of the post you want to answer. Then click the speech bubble in your reply box - that’ll bring up the post. You can shorten it if you want at that point, then answer.

Critters have an appointment at the vet on Aug 3. And I need to make an appt with a new dentist - I refuse to go back to the practice that has changed hands 3 times in as many years. We’ll try a new place.

We have thunderboomers.
And the power just blipped.

I took some food out to Antlers and she hissed at me. I thought little girl, I don’t have to feed you, you know.
I’ve never seen a cat eat like she does though. She tore through half a big can in just a few minutes. I think if the weather hadn’t spooked her she would have finished the whole can.
I wonder where Adam is hiding.

I recall picking rolled up lint from mouse innards.

I just checked the forecast and radar - it’s supposed to hit us in a couple of hours. Hope it’s like yesterday - relatively steady showers rather than a deluge.

Supper will be leftover pasta or leftover London broil or leftover lo mein and whatever else we find in the fridge. I might be persuaded to cook up some veggies. We shall see.

We have deluge, and the temp just dropped to 75.
I hope it stops raining before I have to go get the dogs.

Adam came in, soaking wet, and decided he loves me so much he just had to rub all over me.
ICK!

Antlers is sleeping on the porch, she came back and ate some more, about 3/4s of the can. That is a lot of food for a little kitty.

So far the upstairs toilet is not leaking.
Hope it stays that way.
Lawn guy says he is going to look over my list (a long list) of things I want done around here and get back to me. The only things on there that can’t be done soon are putting in a new fence, including one between the neighbor and me, and remodeling the bathroom. I stopped taking care of the neighbor’s yard, so now it is all overgrown and my dogs can’t look through the fence at the next neighbor up. She said her nephew was going to come mow it, and just like everything else she says, nothing happens. Once I’m ready, I’m just going to have a tall privacy fence put between us and not have to look at the mess anymore.

Howdy Y’all! Remember how I said shrimpie ‘n grits and spareguts for sup? Well that did not happen. OYKW said the shrimpies looked kinda ick to him and I trust his judgement on that as he would mine. So instead, we decided to go to the hog trough Golden Corral for the discount geezer special which means betwixt two and four p.m. So we had a late N.O.L./early sup. This is the first time we have done this in what feels like forever. ‘Twas good and gotta say they’re doin’ a good job with the social distance/ safe food handlin’ stuff. Well, as good as a buffet type place can, I reckon.

Also, we have invited JDD and Partner to come over for what we southern USAers call Sunday Dinner, meanin’ N.O.L. but a huge meal. Gonna do a roast beast, lots o’ veggies, cornbread, and a pound cake with macerated fresh strawberries and real whipped cream. It’ll be like Sunday Dinner at granny’s! Does anyone else think macerated looks like a dirty word?
