Mad-Men: 6.03 "The Collaborators" (open spoilers)

She explicitly said it was a bad time because of her career and that she was contemplating an abortion and was relieved she miscarried so she wouldn’t have to face that decision during her conversation with the neighbor

She repeated her concerns about the timing of getting pregnant when talking with Don. Yes she wants kids, but not now.

Care to use MS Paint or something to highlight this “gun” you’re referring to? I’ve tried and I’m just not seeing it. I think you might be reaching.

Here you go.

She’s feeling guilty because she’s feeling relieved. And she does wonder about the future because Don isn’t exactly forthcoming about what he really thinks.

Abortions were illegal back then and were sources of shame (much worse than today). I suspected she was dancing around it to gauge Sylvia’s reaction. I could be wrong but that was my sense when I watched.

Ah, ok. I was looking for something bigger. I’m still not sure I buy it. It kind of looks like a boot too. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

They’ve covered this on the show. Getting an abortion would be a trivial matter for a woman in Megan’s postion. All she’d need to do is make a few discreet inquiries. Her Catholic guilt is her only real obstacle.

Pete’s affair partner really needs some help in the seduction department. When you’re trying to get yourself installed as his twinkie in the city, you don’t roll out of the bathroom and declare, “Welp, I just blasted through the last of your toilet paper. Also, do you have a match? Do NOT go in there!”

It was a nice touch that Pete literally only had peanuts and Cheezits on hand. I was expecting a bare mattress on the floor.

How long before one of the doctor’s heart patients is dead by the time he gets to the hospital and he turns right around and comes home? I hope Don has a rope ladder or something because it’s going to be ugly.

What do we know about an “abusive marriage” ?

Peanuts. Cheese crackers. No toilet paper. (But you get to have Pete!) He might as WELL have a bare mattress on the floor.

Well, she turned up having been beaten, so it’s not a huge stretch to think it might not have been the first time.

Not a huge stretch but I asked whether we “know” anything.

What’s the deal with Don slumping to the floor outside the apartment in the last scene? Self-loathing? Nausea? Exhaustion? Heart attack? Or…just a gigolo?

My money’s on self-loathing.
