MADs: Fall Folliage Fest in the mountains of Western Maryland!

Demoted, hardly! Where else can a man have a wonderful evening of food and drink, the company of friends, fuzzy kitties, surf for bananaphone badgers, and have his crotch attacked by locusts? You’ve always gone to extreme for your guests! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, does anyone happen to have a digital camera they could bring? Mine is broken.

I can bring a digital camera too, norinew. But I will leave it to someone else to post the photos to the web.

See ya tomorrow!

That’s okay. My husband is a tech geek; I’ll let him post the photos. A company he works with has a couple of servers that he maintains. I’ll make him give me a little server space to put them on! (I have ways of making him do my will, mwahahahaha!).

Actually I might be able to come out. Was planning on taking the bike out this weekend so I’ll have to see what the palns might be. I went to school at Frostburg so I know the area a bit, I even know the wonderful exit for Maryland Ave.

If you can shoot me an email ldrbryan at yahoo.com to let me know what’s going on I’ll let you know by the end of the day.

Well, I didn’t exactly shoot you an email, cuz it was the wrong caliber for all of my handguns; I did, however, send you one!

She’s definitely back in the country, based on some of her LiveJournal posts. Can’t tell you why her & nyctea haven’t responded.

I’m almost certainly out for this one. 2 1/2 hours each way is too much driving, especially given that there are no hotel rooms and I have a concert the next day. I’ve had so much going on the last few weekends, it feels like I haven’t had a day to chill in forever! :frowning:

I’m not trying to twist your arm or anything, but there still may be a room or two available at The Slumberland (see above posts for phone number), and it’s pretty cheap.

As far as Opal, since I don’t LiveJournal, I tend to be out of the loop quite a bit  . I’m glad she’s back, and hope she’s doing well.

nyctea has responded to her evite. She won’t be able to make it. :frowning:

…because I didn’t know the thread existed. I don’t really visit the SDMB regularly anymore, so please don’t take it personally. Sorry I can’t make it. They are having a welcome home party for me at the club I go to in DC, so I pretty much need to be there  That’s where Nyctea is going to be, too. Sorry!

Opal, sorry you guys can’t make it, but hope you have fun at your party!

Now, a word of warning to you guys about a possible attendee: my acquaintance Bonnie might be here. She says she will, but is famous for no-shows. Her daughter is coming to keep my daughter company, so I didn’t know how to not invite her (well, she invited herself, and I didn’t know how to tell her no). She’s kinda like a politician: she says lots of nice stuff, she’s charming, and nine out of ten words that come out of her mouth are lies! I mean, sure, hang with her, talk to her, just assume that, whatever she says, she’s lying.

Just thought I’d give you a heads-up.

Oh, danceswithcats, my daughter wants to know if you’ll wear your bowtie again?

For her, yes. Should I bring mud for your other darling daughter? :stuck_out_tongue:

Not in my living room, ya don’t!

Oh, btw, Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny and about 60 degrees. A perfect day for taking a drive up through the narrows, onto National Highway (the main road going west through Cumberland before 68 was completed) and into Frostburg; a very scenic route with lots of beautiful autumn trees!

norinew, mind if I take over your kitchen for a brief while after Anita and I get there, to make the spinach pasta? I think I’d rather make it there than transport it. And do you have a colander I can use, or should I bring one?

Hope y’all have a bundle of fun. I’m going to be working my tail feathers off, as the museum has a big opening this weekend, followed by our birthday bash on Sunday.

Sorry, as always, to miss out. Some busty, wonderful lady will have to give RTF a hug in my stead, please!

RTF, yes, I have a colander, yes my kitchen is more or less fully equipped. You certainly may take it over to make your pasta.

moi, I’m not particularly busty, but I’d be happy to give him an extra hug!

Everybody have fun!! I’m about to leave for my shudder BIL’s party…

And I’m about 15 minutes from heading out the door to pick up beer, then pick up Anita. We probably ought to be at the party 4:30-ish.

Nice party, Norine! Thanks for hosting the MADs and thanks for providing the entertainment: Your girls are so much fun! I think, however, that a couple of them still owe me a hug! They’re not going to get away that easy next time.

Please ask Ra how he would like to receive the photos - I have several good ones. I’ll also send them over to Opal to post on teeming millions for us.

Great to meet you, Two Trouts! I got the feeling that you survived your first Dopefest just fine and might even be expected to make it to more in the future!

It was so good to see my old friend, DWC, again even though he was clearly straining his brain to think of any “G” rated websites we could visit.

A great big THANK YOU goes to Kim (Not Tim, Norine!) for doing the driving and letting me enjoy the scenery on the lovely drive up and back.
