Mafia: Evil Dead - DAY/NIGHT SIX

  1. I am not as confident as you are that MHaye is telling the truth.

  2. I don’t think the scum would risk one of their own for that. It would be a really bad move when the option is just to kill someone else. There are a few confirmed townies I bet they’d rather take down, given that there may be no Vig and we could thus lynch MHaye tomorrow anyway.

Now that I’ve got another voter on the **Nanook **wagon, I’m tempted to not jump off! I don’t think anyone should be getting a pass for laying low at this point. Just because someone’s away from the game for a bit or bored or whatever doesn’t make them not scum.

I’m trying to explore some new candidates, but yesterDay gives us a lot of data but few answers. I’ve already outlined my misgivings about voting MHaye, though I don’t think he’s getting a reprieve. Some thoughts, from my vote analysis:

Special ed threw out a lot of “me too” votes yesterday and nailed the coffin shut on Hal…who was town. Changing your vote repeatedly to go the way the town is going strikes me as trying not to be held accountable for your votes. That’s mega-suspicious to me. Special ed is also a champion bandwagon jumper, voting for the “winner” every Day but Day 4, when he put in a last-minute and non-game-changing vote for 2nd-place Hal.

Brewha would look really suspicious to me–he also made a crucial vote to swing things in Hal’s direction–but I’ve still got strong townie feelings toward him from Day 1. I just can’t see scum bussing scum like that right out of the gate. It’s the same feeling that made me positive that Cookies was town, also back on Day 1. Scum would do anything for love…but they won’t do THAT. (No, no, no they won’t do that!)*

Zeriel: didn’t vote for three days, then voted and unvoted Blaster on Day 4. Votes MHaye early on Day 5, when he’s not really a top candidate. Leaves his vote there. The whole thing strikes me as playing it really, really safe. I don’t know whether it looks better for him if MHaye turns up scum or town.

I would be willing to vote for any of these three, but brewha only if I get something really convincing. But for now, I’m sticking with Nanook. Voted once all game, for Hal, solidifying his lead yesterDay.

*At least, I think not. And let’s face it, it was time for some Meatloaf. He was in RHPS…and that’s a campy horror movie, right?

Two things.

One. Please do not use yellow text on white background for anything, ever. It is unreadable.

Two. I was looking late last night at special ed’s recent vote history. Rather than stay up drafting into the wee hours (and I’m developing the habit of fouling up tags and missing them on preview once it gets late), I slept on the results. This morning I wake up to this.

That’s the third time in four Days he’s played “follow-my-leader” with his vote.

The first time was his [post=10648797]vote for Chucara[/post]. I didn’t think much of it at the time; he was open about it, and he piggybacked off obviously correct reasoning :stuck_out_tongue:

Special ed’s vote on Day 4 didn’t follow this pattern. He voted for Hal so as to give BlaM the chance to be tested. (At least we can be sure that he’s not on the same team as BlaM the serial killer). SE [post=10678583]later solidified this into a real vote[/post], and it was for reasons of his own, not piggybacking on someone. So we know he can think for himself. Why doesn’t he?

Day five, and we come to the merry-go-round of votes late in the Day. Having had his vote on Hal all day he [post=10693703]switches cases to me[/post] because he wanted to vote with the confirmed bloc, while saying he’d rather vote Hal. In retrospect, and setting aside the natural OMGUS reaction, which is easier now than it was in the heat of the moment, this strikes me as bad for two reasons. Firstly, he’s switching from voting for a player he still thought scummy, to a player he had found nothing against up to that point. Whatever happened to “vote for whoever is scummiest in your eyes?” Secondly, his main reason for switching votes is that “the confirmed are voting for him.” No attempt to analyse their case and see whether he believed it was reasonable. The secondary reason is legit, if you assume one of us is scum and the other isn’t. If we’re both town, which one is the scum most likely to want lynched? A claimed vanilla Town or a claimed protective role?

SE unvoted me in [post=10693904]D05.165[/post], and [post=10693951]three posts later[/post] was begging someone to tell him who to vote for. Eventually, when no-one answered the question, he settled back on Hal. However, [post=10694050]in the interim[/post] he’d proposed a plan. Why not lynch us both?

That’s the sort of plan that the deadites would love. They know whether someone is a deadite or not, so if they can get two Townspoeple as the main lynch candidates, then when one is lynched maybe inertia will take out the second. That’s exacerbated by this ruleset which means votes stay until removed. And here’s a throwaway suggestion to link the two of us, because we’re “the two most in danger.”

Vote special ed for repeated “me too” voting, for begging to be led by the nose even though he had (or said he had) suspicions of his own, and for trying to talk Town into “chain-lynching.”

My participation for the last week’s been dreadful and I apologise. I didn’t know I’d be called away when I signed up otherwise I wouldn’t have done.

I travel home tomorrow so by evening I’ll have a decent connection and will post properly.

I have been reading along though whenever I can.

amrussel’s post on JSexton was a helluva lot better and more detailed than mine and I’m keeping my vote where it is.

As for MHaye, his power doesn’t seem that unreasonably powerful to me…it basically boils down to one protection on himself and/or another and one kill. The pm sounded legit so if he is deadite I suspect those are his real powers and he’s just tweaked the wording slightly. I’m on the fence about his allignment at the moment but he’s less suspicious to me than others at this point.

If I wasn’t voting JS I’d be voting brewha and again sorry for not backing it up, whenever I start typing I have to get off this chair and I lose the connection so going back and forth finding posts would take forever but here’s just one from yesterDay that pinged me:

(bolding mine)

This is in response to amrussel’s calling out brewha for switching between voting and unvoting cookies based on NAF and hawk’s opinions rather than his own. brewha manages to accuse amrussel of being scum during his defence of himself which is frankly more a list of excuses than a defence but manages to finish off sounding as though he’s been totally persecuted. Others have given more detailed arguments for their suspicion of him too.

And sorry, but I’m not going to vote along with our confirmed players unless I agree with them. No offence to them but they’re not omnipotent and I’m not at all confident they’re more likely to be right than anyone else. The only thing about their votes I trust is their motivation.

Re dotchan’s asking people if they think it’s time for a mass claim. Looks as though most people are against it and I do understand why seeing as how we’ve had quite a few unusual roles so it would be easy for the scum to manipulate their pms if necessary. Nevertheless I’m for it - we’ve had a remarkably quiet Day toDay, it’s Day 6 now and we could use the information.

And now to semi condradict myself…although I have no more suspicion of dotchan than anyone else I really don’t understand why people are confirming her in light of Blam’s posts. He may have been telling the truth. I suppose there’s a reasonably good chance he was telling the truth. But it isn’t a fact and we shouldn’t lose sight of that.

Day Six ends in about three and a half hours, at 1:00PM EST. I am working from home today, so I should be able to end the Day quite promptly for a change.

The day is closing down and I want to get my vote in.

Vote Nanook of the North Shore
Mostly for lack of participation. I’m seeing alot of people getting hounded for their opinions. Or the wording in their arguments. Or capitalization. I just don’t think it’s fair that Nanook isn’t getting scrutinized simply because she isn’t posting. I’m not looking at this as simplistically as lynch the lurker, but that is probably how it is going to come off. So, I’m sure I’ll get picked apart for my vote, but there’s another issue. Nanook has a voting history of 1, right? When you vote, you become accountable for that vote. I’ve made some good choices and bad choices for voting, and I will defend my reasoning even if it turned out to be wrong. Nanook has nothing to defend. I think she’s lying low to avoid suspicion and is so far succeeding.

I’m still not convinced Mhaye is scum. I’m also not convinced he is town, but I feel that there is too big of a risk to lose such a power role if he is. I am strongly encouraging our Vig to attack him tonight - if he survives the day.

Is this going to become the debacle of this game? I do not have a voting history of one, and I find it interesting that people are just going with that like it is gospel. I voted for Peeker, I voted for Hal, and I’m currently voting for Mhaye. That is not one vote.

And he, thank you very much.

Dude what? Not only is that not what I said at all, it’s almost the exact opposite of what I said. The one specific role I commented on my own personal definition of boring was vanilla scum, and that was one I said that I did not find boring.

At this point, I’m quite sure there are scum trying to get me lynched because they think I’m an easy target. Right now the leaders of that seem to be Natlaw and Millit. I would be willing to move my vote to one of them, probably Nat since he keeps twisting the things I say, but doing so would move me into a tie with Mhaye. Since I know I’m town, and am still leaning not-Town for him, I’ll leave my vote where it is.

We can’t even get the confirmed players to vote together. The current vote leader has 4. That is just asking the scum to manipulate the voting if they need to. Or if we are all set to vote a townie, which I believe we are, they can just stay out of the way.

I never took the 1 vote thing as gospel. I wasn’t entirely sure, which is why I wrote:

Question mark = question, not statement of gospel truth. So, you did vote for Hal as well as Peeker. I asked the question and I got the answer. So, you have a voting history of 2(today’s vote hasn’t gone through yet, so I’m not counting it til dusk), while people who have been playing along have a voting history of 5. Much more info to go on.

My vote history notes gives a +1 for a scum vote, 0 for a PFK/Serial killer/Vig vote, and -1 for a town vote. So, by that criteria you went from a zero to a -1. Not really too compelling for me to change my vote.

To vote with Pede as I said I would, I’ll:

Unvote Brewha

Vote MHaye

And Pede I forgot can you buy the vote now? Because it looks like this is one time where we might be able to use your power.

Argh, I thought I had till 7 PM EST, so I’ll have to make a vote from work now.

I was going from memory there, so I guess I was wrong (haven’t actually checked), sorry. I haven’t had time to look at you again and there isn’t much extra to look at either, I think.

I find amrussell case for JSexton pretty solid as it expanded on something I noticed. Since I’m giving Mhaye the benefit of the doubt, I’ll

vote JSexton

OK then, I’m sorry about not counting your other votes. That was a mistake. I still don’t think it absolves you. Voting for peeker and MHaye are both null tells, at least right now. It doesn’t change the fact that you have a poor posting and voting history (no vote 3/6 Days).

Back home from work, too late to alter my vote, but with no vote or claim from JSexton, I don’t see a reason for it either.

This post is the source of my confusion about Nanook, I didn’t remember the ‘I might find…’. Millit interpreted it the same way and in this post Nanook clarifies he found playing scum the most interesting so far.

INT THE CABIN HALLWAYS - DUSK

We hear screaming as we fade in on the crowd, running down the hallway, armed with kitchen implements.

PERSON WITH KITCHEN KNIFE
Lynch Mhaye!

PERSON WITH BARBEQUE FORK
Find him!

PERSON WITH SPATULA
Someone else first!

SOMEONE
I saw him go in there.

*Close on a DOOR, slightly ajar. Tense music. The PERSON WITH KITCHEN KNIFE gingerly seizes the doorknob, and throws the door open, leaning back at first against a threatened attack. None comes.

Cut to the group, tentatively entering the room. Pan around to find an elaborate trophy room, filled with the stuffed carcasses of animals: a large stuffed bear, a stuffed deer, a moose head mounted on the wall, a few stuffed squirrels. Close on the face of a stuffed squirrel, its tiny squirrel face frozen in a soundless roar.*

MARK HAMILL
I have a bad feeling about this.

MHAYE’S VOICE
(From behind)
You and me both, mate.

PERSON WITH SPATULA
Who was that?

PERSON WITH BARBEQUE FORK
Mhaye? Let’s be reasonable now. Come out where we can lynch you!

MHAYE’S VOICE
I’m right here, people.

PERSON WITH KITCHEN KNIFE
Where?

MHAYE’S VOICE
Right here!

MARK HAMILL screams as the moose head abruptly bends down from its perch and tears his throat out. MARK HAMILL pitches forward, quite dead. Fortunately, he is not played by anyone in the group. The rest stare in amazement at the moose head.

SOMEONE
MHaye?

Close on PERSON WITH SPATULA

PERSON WITH SPATULA
He’s a moose.

Close on MHAYE, in moose head form.

MHAYE
Actually, I’m a Candarian Demon Moose. Quake in fear, human fools, for the hour of your destruction has come. Prepare yourselves… for death! Now I shall…

He snaps at the air. No one is in range. They all regard him, nonplussed.

MHAYE
I’m going to… uh… if you could just step a bit closer, perhaps? Anyone… well, then, I’m going to… to… oh, darn.

THE PERSON WITH THE BARBEQUE FORK stabs him in the moosely forehead. They attack him further. Nothing much happens.

MHAYE
You fools! I’m a stuffed moose head! All you’ve done is weaken me; you can’t kill me! I’ll be here forever.

He laughs, but it sounds like Bullwinkle, so they are not terribly intimidated.

MHaye, The Evil Candarian Demon Moose, a Scum Investigator, has been lynched. He remains, like Macey and Hawkeyeop, only mostly dead, and thus may participate at will.

Night Six begins here, and will end on Thursday afternoon at 1:00PM. Here’s a vote count to kick things off:

Nanook (3) - Millit the Frail, dotchan, brewha
JSexton (3) - Almost Human, amrussell, Nanook

OMG - we did it. We caught scum BIG time

So Questionable Hillbilly was too good to be true, luckily others weren’t as trusting as I was :).

Storyteller, can the mostly dead still use their powers?

Yee-haw! Pull out the moonshine and light up the ce-ment pond, we done caught us a scum!

On another note, I didn’t talk much because I was really hesitant about that lynch, and I didn’t want to talk myself out of it. Good thing too.

The mostly dead can speak. That’s it. They can’t act, kill, use powers, be subjected to powers, be lynched, or cast a vote that counts.

Snaps at Total Lost’s ankle.

Mmmm. Danissssssh. My favourite.

Just wait until I get you lot down below. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth from the lot of you.

And if you don’t have any, teeth will be provided!

Go Team Scum!
