Thanks for doing this. I found it helpful and I agree with your non-scum assessment. The only odd bit in there was voting for Idle didn’t really match the underlining arguments, but Idle will do that to you.
Wha? I have a few candidates for Batman, but masons and “fellow cultists?”
I can’t and won’t completely dismiss the idea, but there’s only a one Day period where it’s plausible that Pleo investigated you. For Pleo to have been voting you as the result of an investigation, he would have had to investigated Night 3 and you would have to be scum. I think that the chance that both of these are true is small, but there is a chance and I can’t completely dismiss the idea.
I think there’s a better chance he investigated and found you third party. That would be an interesting wrinkle when you flip.
I welcome your leans.
This is an odd quote, so I tried to find it. The results are equally odd, because Google doesn’t find this thread but the forbidden thread (which I did not read or click through to). Prof, where did you pull this from? It’s awfully long and in quotes, so that implies Chronos actually said it, but I can’t find it.
See mine and Guiri’s posts. It an adaptation of a speech from Grapes of Wrath.

I was totally thinking exactly that when I read his response heh
Little bit of policy, little bit of not liking the claim. See below.
The votes on D3 that I saw for ProfP that I remember were largely for him being fluffy (and frankly, I don’t think being low-post-count or fluffy is super vote-able–it’s a null tell to me, as long as they vote). I also didn’t really agree with Pleo’s characterization of his “lynch the cult” plan as fully pro-scum. As for why I switched my position and voted for him–and for some reason I thought I posted about this but clearly I did not–once Pleo was revealed, following the person he abruptly locked on to and voted for repeatedly seemed like a good way to nail a scum.
No confirmation, no data at all, risks even if they are mostly who they claim to be = slightly to somewhat negative feeling towards the cultists. Modified by the fact that sach is also pushing the truly pro-town strategy of “always utilize multi-lynch to the fullest at this stage of the game”.
If one is killed and actually flips PFK/3rd/whatever, I’ll modify, but right now I don’t know if they actually have an exclusive win or if they have powers or if they are actually one of the scum teams playing a weirdo gambit or town playing a weirdo gambit.
Admittedly, yes. Also admittedly, it was a weak FOS in the first place–I didn’t (and still don’t understand) why he’d have revealed anything about the switch at all.
Having said that, I also don’t care that he’s alive: killing a switchholder is not especially high-priority for the scum since all it does is change the WIFOM calculation for the other unknown switchholder.
I’m not sure I trust anyone. To the extent we have revealed investigators or confirmable groups, we don’t! And rule #1 of Mafia to me is “anyone can be scum in the absence of hard data”.
The double scum team thing has messed my radar up completely–As I said, I can’t find scum in the voting patterns except for people who do actions that could be savior actions–pile-ons and busses mean nothing when it could just as easily be a town or the other scum team too.
I’m going to be perfectly honest–my work had a major reorg, and the hurricane of fallout dropped into my lap more than I expected it to in the last couple of weeks. I have five major (read as “more than 100 servers each”) hardware deployments in flight right now.
That said, I’m trying to THINK about this, but I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and really think about what to SAY about it. Long memory me remembers the time I got speed-hammer-lynched (like, the time between “made a obviously silly mistake” and “voted so hard night fell early” was a few hours or so) for making a brainfart and voting for a claimed mason once, so I default to not saying much.
Yeah. When I read it, my first thought was “Oh look… now I’m on the other side of it… great.”

Ain’t that the truth.
I thought basically that I tried to convey two attitudes toward him:
- I feel like he’s not especially likely to clam up–so early on I assumed he had a role he didn’t like/understand because he instigated this thing and then barely (to my perception) participated.
- I perceive him as being more likely to act disruptively when he’s been correctly suspected of being scum, so when he started acting out I assumed he was caught as scum, hence the vote.
*Too * willing?
Like I said, I kinda think he’s town. When I looked at the vote record, pleo’s votes made it seem like he had an investigation. Then others (not sure who exactly, maybe hooker? But several ppl. I’m on my phone and lazy) did a more in depth analysis that I admit I didn’t do myself, and it nurtured and cultivated the doubt and unease I had for my vote.
This is confusing to me. It sounds like an explanation for voting Prof P toDay, but it doesn’t explain your D4 vote. Pleo was still alive D4. Your reasoning for you D4 vote was
How can Pleo’s reveal be the missing gap between not understanding and being happy with the case when Pleo was still alive?

I wasn’t the first to raise it, but Pleo called for Angel and Prof to confess to being cultists. That theory was wrong for Angel and I’ve noted it in my reasoning.
That doesn’t make sense. All the switches are on every night, so your switch presumably turns a scum switch off. Why would scum not want you gone so that their switch is by default on.
I think it’s the Grapes of Wrath, Tom Joad?
If you “kinda” think he’s town why are you voting for him? That’s crazy talk.
You’ll note that I’m not.
SHOULD I assume you were not caught up when you posted this?
Well yeah, posting as I went along. All the rest was blah, blah cult, what did Pleo really mean, cult, cult, Pleo, Idle, Grapes of Wrath.
Sorry missed your unvote.
Snfaulkner, we have both played a lot of games with Professor Pepperwinkle. I don’t understand what you think **PP **would be doing differently in this game if he was Scum. Indeed, this seems quite like his Scum game to me.
Other than his bringing up the hammer on Day 1, **PP ** is playing very conservatively, which was a Scum tell of his before. He has trouble making up false cases as Scum, whereas when he is Town he generally tries.
So why do you have a Town lean on him?
And how is that working out for you?
