The entire “Scum Tells Don’t Exist” line of thinking, and a fluffier than fluff vote… Pings. … Perhaps one or the other would give you a pass, but both together, and yeah I’m good putting in an early day 1 vote.
There were a few seemingly obvious question asked that could be interpret as…what was it called? Derpclear? Derpquest? Derpidation? Anyways, some ancient mafia lingo from the years of yore that I had never heard before.
Where is the official, final player list for this game? A list of 55 names was posted in the Night 0 thread (post #3), but a bit later there was a short list of potential additions (post #32). Are any/all of those folks still in the game?
I can’t make a proper random vote if I don’t know who all the players are…
Aww too bad Dante couldn’t play. From what I’m seeing here I need to take another look at night 0 thread. I will do that tomorrow morning and see what I can deduce from that. Should be an interesting read.
Do we really spend Day/Night 1 voting randomly, as some seem to be doing? Or are we supposed to be analyzing the behavior of our fellows and acting accordingly?
I don’t have the lingo down yet, but I’ve noted folks that babble/fluff; folks that are oddly defensive about what exactly (because we just started); folks that are really focused on the whole editing thing; and a whole bunch of quiet, lurking folks who are just gathering data. I think the last group is the dangerous one.
So which is it: Day 1 is a dart throw (so heads down and hope the crowd forgets you) or Day 1 is based on some kind of “logic” (so get in there and throw elbows)?
We try to use as much “logic” as possible, but without any concrete information to go on, that’s rather difficult. I’d say that long term, we probably do better than a “dart throw”, but just barely.
My signature previous to my current one, was a conversation between Chronos and I. Chronos basically stated that Day One votes help the game achieve regularity. I then commented that Day One votes were the Jamie Lee Curtis of Mafia. … A now dated reference to Activia Yogurt.
Day one votes are for the most part irrelevant. I’ve gone on record as to state that no one should be held to their Day One vote, as the game progresses, because of how in the sky it is.
I think most people would like you to believe that "Both"is the answer. … I think it’s anything and everything that can approximate a case, as early on as we are. Cases will solidify as we go on, but we have to start somewhere.
As I asked, and as was pointed out Editing of posts has a good track record of catching scum in their tracks. Again, in a certain sense, previous history of games, that we can’t (for good and bad reasons) fully ignore. We are going on past experience. Some elements of grudge will also seep in.
I’m on Pleonast (but not voting him) and I feel he will be on me soon enough over a hodgepodge of the above reasons, save for editing.
I think we are all, in a certain sense, grasping at straws. Just some of us have more favored straws over others. … Not the best play, but I think “not the best play” is the epitome of Day 1. We will get there… But this, unfortunately, is how we do it.
It is apparent that based off the color from Night 0 and Day 1,we have 36 townies, 4 3rd parties, and 14 non-town players. Nice catch to whomever caught it Night 0.
But it means that there is going to be a lot of carnage in this game. I think the fire is probably from the other team, or an arsonist. We do have 2 sets of scum in this game, so it’s safe to assume that each get a kill.
I also need to check out the roles available to see what powers we are working with. I hate playing on my phone. Cheese out
** Colby **
I do suggest you check the roles.doc here is the link-since it seems you missed the N0 discussions related to it. ( I included the link for ease of access)
easy to do with the volume of posts
Speaking of N0- I received my PM quite late in the Night and I can only wager others did too, so I am disregarding my leans from the Night thread
Day 1 votes are mostly random, but the point of them is to see how people defend themselves. Or whether they defend themselves. Or how they justify their votes. Or whether they justify their votes. Or what they say. Or what they don’t say.
Since this game is on a message board, every single thing goes on the record. Something that’s inconspicuous today might be part of a solid case on Day 5.
Most stuff that happens on Day 1 is geared towards getting people talking and getting on the record.
Seeing as how you just said that people shouldn’t even be held accountable for their Day 1 votes, what it tells me is that you’re pissing into a fan to see what kind of pattern it makes on the wall.
It also means I can pretty safely ignore you for now.
