Another consequence of multiple scum groups:
A scum under lynch pressure may claim a town power role, in order to provoke a counterclaim. However, there is less need to counter, as by claiming they have made themselves a target for the other scum group. So just leave them be and allow the other scum to take care of them.
Although a downside to not countering is that town protective roles may waste their ability on someone who is actually scum. So I suggest that, if scum do claim your role, consider whether staying hidden would be better than immediately counterclaiming.
