Mafia Reunion - Day One

No, I’m not. But you seemed like you wanted him to tell you for sure that it was or not.

No. I don’t. Sorry.

Concrete would have been - to me - asking about more details. I did not.

I simply said: I read this as a soft claim. Is my reading correct?

Same way I would ask someone about any other phrasing that might be misinterpreted.

Same question here as to Hockey Monkey. Had you read the other Colby votes yet when you made this post?

And you seem to now also imply that it was a soft claim. We still don’t even know if it was intended as such…

So is it better to assume a soft claim than ask if it was a soft claim?

Come on, Zeriel, go hard. You know you want to.

@Total Lost - The information you would have gotten from a confirm of your question would have confirmed it as a claim. Can’t you see that?

Well, now he has made a hard claim, soo…

Look, the last game I was in had soft, kinda sideways claims/hints as part of the game structure. It was fun. I see it as three levels of claim- soft, harder and hard. Soft claim may be read as a hint toward Power, harder claim would be confirmed soft claim (Yes I am some sort of Power, I totally meant that as a soft claim!) and hard claim (see his last post).

I just found your prodding (is that better than “forcing” ?) to be kind of weird, and a confirmed soft claim would be a larger target for scum/third parties than an unconfirmed soft claim, wouldn’t it?

Not a fan of this post. I think it’s important to remember that nobody in this game has perfect information making them able to defend someone else and have no fear they might be defending a scum. There are two scum teams.

Not to mention there are tons of us who have said similar things about Colby’s slip, including me. What makes this one stand out?

**Vote Boozahol Squid PI **

The whole exchange with **Angel **seems like trying to make a case and then being frustrated when it does’t stick —instead of actually evaluating her response. Did **Boozahol **care what **Angel ** would say to his accusations? Seems not.

Angel showed up in an impossibly busy game and posted, admitting to not having read roles. It was kind of weird, but not really scummy. The overkill response from **Boozahol ** is.

You’re whistling in orange… are you a wolf? But then again, you’re writing in purple… Have you been granted mod powers? Or are you perhaps speaking from beyond the grave?

Oh, hi there. I was confused at a noob declaring not to have read the rules but being afraid of me as scum, now I’m confused that you started off like a bull in a china shop, well done.

FOS raventhief

I had to read this twice.

Which rules are you reading? Spreading misinformation? “Some third party players may have exclusive win conditions (ie, win conditions that preclude Town and/or Scum wins), while others may be nonexclusive (that is, able to win with any side).”

There were no N0 actions, right? D1 starts with all switches on?

Is this Lakai’s first game? 2 posts toDay in total? A me too vote, and an excuse for inactivity?

OK, that’s surprising, but interesting. Random selection would usually give 1 scum out of 4, 1/3 is slightly better odds - but honestly cannot be much fun or satisfaction for you.

N0 was purely a set up event so you guys could talk while we coordinated behind the scenes nonsense. Consider the game as having started on Day 1 for everything other then general conversation.

I’m still a little confused about the day and night stuff. The mafia kill during the day – so they should be deciding right now who to kill. And Septimus you’re the doc that prevents the mafia kill, right? So you are deciding who to protect right now?

You know, I read post 345 from Septimus again and I think he can be town for now. It admittedly might just be the snuggling. We’ll see if I feel the same when I finally get to the end of this thread.

unvote Septimus

Yes, that is my understanding.

I don’t know what you’ll feel when you get here, but I know I feel confused!

Unvote AngeloftheNorth. I might have been just being cranky, though I do think that claiming not to have read the rules gives a person the opportunity to cover for mistakes that might otherwise catch attention, and it felt like overreaction when she was accused.

Vote Total Lost for the septimus hounding which struck me wrong and which may have led to what we have now which is a too-early claim (at least, that’s how it strikes me).

I thought Texcat was claiming Patsy N0 and asked her about it.

And that puts an end to that entire conversation :). I disagree.

I find the fact that he’s obviously following along, and ready to pop in and answer a question, but otherwise is just sitting back observing - as if he’s in the unspoiled thread but accidentally posting here.

Please elaborate, or are you expecting everyone to traipse over to Giraffe board and try to find what you’re referring to?

I’m not sure if he’s testing us, but he did give a reason for voting Johhny B, way back in #345

Whoa, NormalPhase is NOT a woman? Mind blown. So who’s Renata?

I keep wondering if there’s a middle ground, like just focus on 18 players, there’s probably 6 scum/3rd parties there, try to find the 12 townies, the 6 baddies, then move on to another group of 18? Just noticing players in a group this size is a challenge.

He hadn’t read the roles at that time, but was aware there were two scum teams, each with a kill. Since his own team did not have a fire power, he suggests that it belongs to the other (scum) team, or to a (3rd party?) arsonist.

I am in a position I never expected to be in early in this game, of being caught up and feeling I have a reasonably good handle on what is going on!

On the one hand it is good that the thread is a relatively manageable size, on the other hand it means that we have a lot of lurkers. By my count we have 16 alleged players who have posted 5 times or less, meaning less than one post per RL day. I do think that scum are probably overrepresented in that group, but with such a large group of lurkers, it’s hard to single out one to vote for…indeed, I would find anyone choosing to pick on a particular one of them to be mildly suspicious.

With undying respect for the autonomy of power roles, I would suggest that the lurker pool might be a good place for our Vig to direct his or her attention. Heck, I’ll even make the same suggestion to the scum…killing there might give you an above average chance of hitting a member of the other scum team. At the very least, it will prevent you from killing me!

I’m not getting a good feeling about the attention that’s being paid to Total Lost’s apparent waterboarding of septimus. Here’s the thing: just because somebody asks you a question, doesn’t mean you have to actually *answer *it…but it does no good to ignore it completely.

The question was “are you soft-claiming powers here?” I don’t see anything so egregious about the inquiry; septimus’ post could be seen to imply that he might have something worth claiming. If he didn’t want to answer the question, he could simply have said “I’m not going to answer that question”. That’s what I would have done in his position (actually, I probably would have said something a bit more snarky, but you get the drift). That would have been that. By refusing to respond, and then changing the original intent of the question, all he did was open himself up to additional querying, and the rest of us to endless discussion.

I think the whole thing is a bunch of nothing.

Which brings me to…

(decolorized for your protection)

Are you hard-claiming powers here?
But seriously, what the ever-loving fuck?

I was on Total Lost for her handling of a possible ‘soft claim,’ but septimus’s actual claim is NOT Total Lost’s fault. septimus was free to not claim if he so chose. Really, it was the VOTES that pushed septimus to claim, if anything. But choosing to claim is totally on septimus. Was he even in the lead? My recollection is that Colby was in the lead. But septimus did warn us that he would claim early since he would not be around for End of Day.

Although, now that I type that out, didn’t septimus claim around the same time End of Day would be (different days of course, I mean around the same hour of day).
