Hi guys… I’m on page 15 of this thread. Just got my role PM. Who am I subbing for? That way I can have some context of interactions occurring with them as I continue to read. I am going to slip N0 for now, as I have to prioritize if I am to catch up. If you need me to respond to something before I post that I have caught up, please mention me by name or quote my post so it sends me a notification. Looking forward to playing with you all.
 The protection always works! Let me use examples:
Let’s say Angel is the Outrider, and targets Biotop. Nobody else targets Biotop. Nothing happens.
Now say Doc Cookies also targets** Biotop. Cookies** is killed by the Outrider power. Nothing happens to Biotop.
NOW say that Serial Killer** Diggit*** also* targets Biotop. Again, only Cookies dies; despite dying, her action still functions to protect** Biotop.**
So, to Sunny’s question “why guard”, or more precisely “how does the existence of this power affect Doc strategy?”…it’s complicated. If I were a Doc in this game, and there was only one claimed power role, I would be very leery of guarding that power role (which would ordinarily be the no-brainer move) for fear of the Hitrider.
If we reach a gamestate later on where there are multiple claimed power roles, then it becomes a guessing game between the Doc, Hitperson and killers. BUT then again on the other hand, consider the Town Watcher. That single power role would also be the no-brainer target for the Watcher, meaning that the Outrider likely would be scared off. In that case, since the Watcher won’t get any useful information from the factional kill, you should probably protect. Confused yet? If not, we can talk about how switches might affect the calculations.
Your logic is flawed. If town protects and scum get scared off then that means they targeted someone else… there is no benefit to town here. At best town doesn’t protect and scum get scared off and then we are back to the crapshoot… so it’s all WiFoM.
I will NOT tell you how many times I had to read that before I realized I was switching Angel and Cookies. :smack:
The watcher makes more sense to me, inherently. The single claimed power role also “seems” clear, but you lose me on the probably protect because everyone will probably be scared off. Then why protect? I will keep reading through that.
I think I will go off and quietly consider the switches. What’s Boozy-squid offering tonight?
Welcome paul! Glad to be playing with you again. And Lakai 2: The Revengencing, I hope to watch you go on a murderous rampage, hell bent on right those who wronged you in your previous life!
And now you see why I was sheepish in assuming your orientation. Like I said, it’s a freakish memory… Not for what it remembers mind you, just that I can’t really control it.
Cassia is a term for Cinnamon like spices, that is not strictly speaking from a cinnamon plant.
Huh. Learn something new every day. Kassia was just her screenname but she chose it because she is a composer and ‘Kassia the nun’ was a Byzantine woman in the Middle Ages (she died in 863 AD) who was a composer and poet and the first in history to have her compositions documented.
