I’m no fan of this guy, and he’s said some astoundingly partisan, hateful and stupid things. Last week, he went as far as implying that someone should defecate on Sarah Palin. In the link you will find his apology. Anyone who feels the need to apologize should take a look at it and use it as a guide. No equivocation. No excuses. I particularly liked this part:
So, well done, Mr. Bashir.
Wait, this is the Pit, hmmm.
Okay I pit Barrack Obama for his mealy-mouthed apology-that-really-wasn’t-an-apology apology.
That being said, it is refreshing to see someone admit that he’s gone over the line and give a full, clear, and heartfelt apology.
I disagree. The only person who should be apologizing is Palin, for continuing to subject the good people of this country with her unique brand of partisan idiocy.
I’m not a Martin Bashir fan in general and I would agree that unless you’re Triumph the Comic Insult Dog it’s inappropriate for people purporting to be serious journalists and media commentators to go around suggesting that public figures should be pooped on.
OTOH, Sarah Palin herself could pretty much have said this on any given day during her FoxNews tenure and it would have applied:
And in conclusion, it’s all Obama’s fault somehow.
I think she’d have to edit out the “brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network” line, since the FoxNews bunch has demonstrated time and again that they have no sense of shame. Otherwise, it’s a go.
The Michael Jackson documentary guy isn’t much of a journalist? I didn’t see that one coming. The comments were ludicrous and offensive and a full apology is warranted. Bashir should say he’s sorry, too. (This has been your daily reminder of selective outrage.)
It was an anti-pitting of Bashir. I didn’t know where to put it as we don’t have a forum “Sing the Praises”. I threw in the snide comment about Obama because it was, indeed, the Pit and felt the need to criticize someone. And Obama’s lame apology contrasted well with Bashir’s.
