I have no problems with what Bashir said about Palin and wish he didn’t apologize. Her ignorance and frankly callous cruelty in picking at the wound of slavery in order to score political points she can’t express in a less stupid fashion deserves the full brunt of everyone’s hostility. Pissing and shitting in her mouth would only improve what comes out of it on a daily basis. Palin could have made that same apology about a dozen things from inciting hostility towards Democrats with her “target” remarks or her continuing lies and attempts to bring down Obama with all manner of bullshit that hurts actual Americans. But nobody will ever seriously expect or call on her to apologize and worse, if she does apologize for anything, it wouldn’t be the sincere one that Bashir made.

I tend to agree that Bashir shouldn’t have said something like that in his position. At a pub with friends? Sure. On TV as a pundit, it lacks gravitas, tact, and charm. Which doesn’t really mean it’s a bad thing but bad for his job, anyway.
Did Palin apologise for her words, out of interest? That seems the more apt pittable point to come out of this whole thing given it’s the subject of the point. I guess it’s not the most apt point for everyone.
