Masking up (again) in the MMP

I support this.

I had a cat named “Sterling” (she was a very pretty silver-grey). If I didn’t pick her up promptly, she would climb me as if I were a tree. Claws out. I loved that cat, but that wasn’t one of her good points.

I totally agree with this. I was an early reader and to this day, know a whole bunch of words I can’t spell or pronounce properly, but I can tell you what they mean as well as use them properly in written communicators as long as I don’t have to spell.

Poor mom spent hours working on my spelling with me, we did memorization, phonics, flash cards without success. It was so bad that on those rare occasions I got a B in a not spelling subject we would have a serious talk about how to fix the issue. The one time I got an A in spelling, mom was so happy that she took the whole family to Farrell’s for ice cream. I’ve later come to realize that it was probably a pity A, but hey, ice cream!

I adore the name! I had a friend who used to pick her cat up and drape him around her neck. I was all jealous because I thought it was adorable. I’m much older now, and having a 20 pound cat launch himself up my body doesn’t sound very safe. For me, George will probably be just fine!

Yeah, that’s why we are carrying water guns around with us. We didn’t have cool water guns like these when we were kids, those cheap plastic things leaked as soon as you filled them up with water and were as likely to spray you as the target.

Morning, mumpers! I am up bright and early as we’re heading off today and I am on a schedule. So far the critters have been fed and medicated, litter trays have been emptied and cleaned, car’s been topped up with water, I’m showered, hair washed and dried properly, Saturday’s festival wristband has been pre-loaded with drinks money (love a cashless festival!) and I’ve gathered together a few bits that I need to pack.

Have to wait for 'im indoors to get up before I can pack properly as everything else is in the bedroom, but I reckon if I clatter around and make just enough noise, he will eventually give in and haul himself out of bed.

I’ve got directions for bits I need them for, checked that my toll charges are pre-paid, and I’ve also got to load up the automated cat feeder. Whisper has not taken to it at all so he’s getting double rations in his bowl, there will be extra dry food and water downstairs, and the automated feeder will work fine for Ophelia as she only has little bits of food now and then. I need to reset the timer so it goes off every couple of hours for her, and there’s only half a pouch of food in each compartment so that will be enough for her to dip in and out of during the day.

It’s hard work having a four-day trip!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and possible rain off and on all day. Looks stormy to the west of us, so we shall see. The big plan of the day is laundry and stayin’ inside and dry. I took some butter outta da freezer when I arose as I also feel the need to make chawklit chip cookies, a good task for a rainy day. Sup shall be bbq sammiches (bbq bein’ the remnants of yestiddy’s poke roast) coleslaw, baked beans and fries. Fartfest to follow.

BooFae have a great trip and enjoy the festival!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then. onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Mel did the job! I was unconscious before nine, and apart from one visit to the porcelain throne, I slept till 6:45!! Critters have been tended to and I’m having breakfast. SIL will drop Roxy off in about an hour and it will definitely be an indoor day - it’s gray and dreary and humid in the wild and forecast to remain that way. Thank goodness the basement has lots to entertain a toddler!

Not much else on the agenda yet, since I’ll be wrangling till mid-afternoon at least. I need to double-check that. And I need to pull something out of the freezer for supper - maybe something chicken-like.

BooFae - something tells me if Whisper gets hungry enough, he’ll accept the feeder. Tho cats is weird critters. Hope your trip is a blast!

Time to finish my first-of-the-day reading before that demanding small person arrives to monopolize my time. Happy Tuesday!!

im alive … had a crummy weekend thats not over yet …will fill ya in eventually … im off to bed …

Good morning. I mostly lurk on here but I thought you might find this interesting:

I just spent an hour or so sorting out some train tickets so that DW can go and visit the grandkids in Portsmouth (Hampshire not New Hampshire). She will be in her powered wheelchair and travelling alone so will need assistance at each end and where she changes trains in Southampton.

The first thing was to buy a railcard that gives a 30% discount. Then download the appropriate apps to pick the best train times. Then contact the assistance people to check that it will be available. This was done a couple of weeks ago and this morning we got confirmation that assistance will be in place on the day.

I had wrongly assumed that booking assistance would automatically book tickets, but apparently they are in different systems and not joined up (sigh). Hence, this morning’s phone call, to a very helpful lady (after listening to some dreadful music for 20 minutes) who took me through what I needed to do and hopefully the tickets will arrive tomorrow in the post.

Next time will be easier. I now know the procedure and they have all the details, but I will go straight to the phone and abandon the app except as a confirmation.

bobbob, hope wife has a stress-free trip to Portsmouth.

boofae, safe festival travels. Sounds like you have all the details covered…except for the one you remember after pulling away and starting the drive…(well, that’s how it works for me…)

FCM, yeah on the long sleep…that was yesterday for me. Up till midnight and awoke about 6:30am today, which is more normal.

In a slightly better mood this morning, but rain is forecast for later today so soccer will probably get cancelled which will tick me off again. Need to stop by Wal-Mart for a small ice chest/cooler to take water with me to practice (90F heat tends to wear one down). Still shifting players around trying to keep my U7’s balance while meeting parents needs on transportation and location for practice. Hope I’ve got them all solved for now…

OK, pills taken so need to start the day. All y’all take care.

I see what you did there.

Good morning.

The rain promised for yesterday never materialized here. The expected high today is around 71, and I hope they’re right.

Yesterday was definitely an aggravating day. Everything from “there’s a wasp nest in one of the fleet vehicles” to “submit your Fiscal Year 22 spend plan by this Wednesday”. There were people to asking to look over their FERS forms (I’m not HR, I’ve told this guy a thousand times to contact HR; he gets on my last nerve!); finding out I have yet another acting branch chief/boss (the fifth one in just over two years), people leaving for other jobs after just having gotten here, and a multitude of other problems; some very large some just minor. Some of the stuff could have been handled by others in my absence, but it wasn’t. I’m not surprised, but I am disappointed. Also, the wasp nest thing irritated me. They just let that damn car sit and I’ve told them a thousand times it needs to be driven every two weeks and now I have to find the money after just having had my budget swept to hire exterminators to do the job because the nest is now ALL through the car. They did nothing; just let it sit and grow. I really just want to this office’s cars away (they have two), but the area supervisor would fight me tooth and nail on that. They don’t keep them serviced, they don’t drive them and every month there is some hassle because of their lack of attention to these cars. I can’t handle them myself because they are clear up in Mt. Vernon. Ugh.

I hope your wife’s train trip is pleasant and stress-free, bob2.

boofae, I hope your trip is fantastic!

I had another sleepless night, but there is no sleeping when the husband is tossing and turning.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Gordie has had hsi morning walk(he waited till I was on morning coffee before asking). Today’s adventure is moving the kitchen about, to see if the Frecycle washer and dryer work.

[b]bobbob[/]b, hope the wife enjoys the trip.

boofae, enjoy the festival!

Taters, sorry about the aggravating day.

{{{{shades}}}}

Good morning, everyone. I shifted my routine this morning, and ran before it got too hot. There was no beating that humidity, though. I’m now enjoying some coffee and avoiding work.

It now appears that my lagomorph assistant is lodging a complaint that he has run out of tissue paper in his auxiliary den. I have serious questions about who is supposed to be assisting whom.

Well, Wizard, better assist him before you have to deal with nasty, pointy teeth.

Roxy has had 3 successful potties! And the dry peasants rejoiced!!!

And I laundered a hair-covered Afghan. Not bad…

Glad you managed to get your run in early, wizard! boofae, I hope you have a great trip. And Taters, I’m sorry to hear about all the “fun” that awaited you.

It’s another sparkly day in Whoville. My eyeballs hurt because I was irresponsible and didn’t got to bed until almost 1 a.m., was woken mid-sleep by a kid shuffling about out in the hall getting water (will there ever come a time when that doesn’t make me hop out of bed in alarm?) and then had to get up at 6:30, which isn’t super early but it sure felt like it was. Oh, well - today feels a little less awful than yesterday, so yay.

In other news, my husband are having a standoff in the bathroom. I took out our bathroom trash Sunday afternoon to make sure it made it to the curb, but didn’t bag it - typically whoever takes it out doesn’t bag the trash, even though it’s not exactly challenging to do. My husband often avoids bagging the trash like the plague because by the time he notices it needs bagging he’s tired (he’s usually getting ready for bed). As a result, he’s been carefully draping his used dental floss over the edge of the trashcan so it doesn’t fall in when he bags it - but he’s been doing this for the last two nights. I would nag him about it, but 1) I’ve got no leg to stand on since my basket of clean laundry has been in the basement for about a week now and 2) I want to see how long this will take. Last time it took about 6 nights of little threads of floss draped over the edge. I wanna see if he sets a new record.

I’m sure this is probably at least a little gross, but I guess everyone needs a hobby.

This is the first time I beat a cow-orker to the orifice. That means it’s the first time I had to disarm the alarm. It couldn’t verify my code. I tried several times before going outside and texting El Jefe – who is on vacation. He said to call the number next to the alarm. It turns out I was entering my card number and not my access code. DOH! In my defence, I didn’t have my glasses and my slip of paper with the code on it was curled from being in my wallet.

Mrs. L.A. wasn’t feeling well yesterday. She was achy and tired. She didn’t sleep well Sunday night. She did do quite a lot of housework on Saturday. She didn’t know if she didn’t sleep because she was achy, or if she was achy and tired because she didn’t sleep. I’m concerned because the wife of a patient she visited last Thursday ‘has COVID’. I put it in quotes because whenever the patient or his wife feel bad, they’re sure they have COVID. Mrs. L.A. can smell and taste, so she’s not worried. But I am.

ETA: Mrs. L.A. texted she’s feeling much better. Must’ve been the pancakes and bacon I made for her for dinner last night.

Happy Toosday!

Muggy 76 degrees outside. I hear we are supposed to get a bunch of rain.

Nice at the park this morning. Only two of us regulars showed up, but later a Bandit came who might be the newest member of our pack. Then a new dog Remi showed up, she might join our pack as well.
Echo behaved with Bandit and Remi. She’s learning.

Got the package delivered, AT&T straightened out (I hope). I didn’t have to call them; I was able to get everything done online. The cable people are coming tomorrow to upgrade our internet and phone. It’s going to cost me more each month, but maybe now my Ring doorbell will irk properly and my internet will stop cutting out.

Mostly all I’ll be doing today is irking. Which is most irksome. I’m looking for another job, sort of.

Have a nice vacation BooFae

BooFae have fun at the festival!

Shady get some rest. Sorry to hear things have been so stressful.

taters I can’t fathom letting a wasp’s nest grow in a car. It makes me wonder what else they are just putting off.

wizard I think we all know who is really in charge. :carrot:

sari good luck with the job hunt. It’s never fun.

Mooomm congrats to Roxstar!

MetalMouse I hope the soccer woes work out. I was just reading that a Canadian passenger rail line has started running a train down the US Rockies. I’m not sure the US run sounds that exciting, but now I’m curious about their Canadian lines. Someday USians will be allowed to travel the world again. Someday.

Speaking of that, I have booked our South America/Antartica trip for 2022. Hopefully by then this pandemic nonsense will be sorted.

'Beamer took his first sick day today. He has a migraine. He’s really enjoying school this year, so I hope we can get his migraines under control. He was telling us at dinner about his econ class. I never would have guessed he would like that, but he loves it. He’s learning things and he gets to debate current events.

It’s smoky again, but the temps have come down. Yesterday was 105 or something horrid. Today is forecast at 90. The pressure changes have been a bear, so I hope they’re evening out for a bit.

Happy Toesday everyone.

Success was short-lived but she’ll figure out this potty thing eventually, right?

We’re chillin’ and watching TV. Not sure when her mom will reclaim her. Hope it’s soon - this kid wears me out!

Have you ever felt like the world has you on Hold and you’ve been sitting for days listening to staticky adult contemporary music from the Eighties? I’m waiting to receive the 1099 form I need for the tax thing. I’m waiting for a call back about tax prep help. And on the Medicare front, I’m waiting for the forms I have to sign and return, forms that were supposed to be here no later than last Thursday. Oh, and I’m waiting for a call back from the optometrist about fitting me for contact lenses. It’s hard to be zen about so many things.

It’s nice and cool here today. Maybe I’ll go for a long walk when the dryer stops giving my clothes a joy ride.

Speaking of laundry, I read this

as “my casket of clean clothes.” For a minute there, I thought you’d planned way ahead and were finding creative uses for coffins.

Moooom, the potty-training victories tends to be spotty. (Yuk, yuk, yuck.) Congrats on the progress!

MetalMouse, I hope soccer doesn’t get canceled.

BooFae, I’m impressed with how organized and prepped you are! Hope the trip and festival are wonderful.

Taters, hope your day gets smoother.

Boo, what’s the latest with those adorable grandkids?
