Mental shorthand for posters- A memory game

Devorin-male, late 20’s early 30’s another poster that doesn’t make waves. Types with an accent.

Anastaseon- female, nothing jumps out at me, but I know she is well regarded by other posters, there is a camaderie, might be part of the MMP brigade, or one of the women ones.

But you didn’t do it recently on the board, did you? There was a thread not too long ago talking about it, but it wasn’t you. If you’re not gay, I apologize, but most of the bears here are.

**Omi no Kami ** probable male, remember the name, but rarely in the threads I see. Not inflammatory or political.

Oh, no honey, totally gay.

It was last year, I assume I posted about it.

Resume light-hearted game!

Very good! Jeez, have you been taking notes or something?
(Although I’m not married to danceswithcats, but we are a couple. And he is a contractor.)

That’s all correct. What sort of accent do I type with? I’ve never heard anyone say that about me before.

Cardinal fan that enjoys harassing hard-working, kind-hearted Yankee fans whenever the opportunuity presents itself.

Perfect place to say this.

You watch Bollywood flicks, and you once made a comment about your current inamoratas that had me crying with laughter. I still remember the comment, generally…I do remember how funny it was though.

Red Sox fan, actually. I like the Cardinals and enjoyed it when they won in '06, but I grew up an hour and a half north of Boston.

No such creature exists.

I found it!

Tee hee!

I think you’re thinking of ForumBot?

(I have a soft spot for lanky blond guys with interesting piercings and boyish faces… so that kind of thing tends to stick out in my memory  )

I’d suggest someone do me, but given that I’m somewhat new and not all that active, it might be too much of a challenge.

Yes, I’m a Tolkien geek (Elendil was a great King of Men in the distant past of Tolkien’s Middle-earth). “A more general geek”? Yeah, OK, fair enough - I guess my love of history, vexillology, Monty Python, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, and Hellboy probably qualifies me. But I’m a dude - otherwise, I’d be Elendil’s Heiress.

Whenever I see Mahna Mahna’s name I always follow it with a “d’-dooo-do-do-do…” (and a smile). Don’t you have a cat?

I know several professions of the professional-but-unemployed (i.e., those whose posting habits makes it obvious they can’t actually have a job). Bricker, Anthracite/UnaPerson, DSQ, Quad, etc.

I know our resident conservatives-Bricker again, John Mace, Mr. Moto, etc., but I try quite hard not to notice/remember/track the political leanings of most posters – such artificial perceptions tend to get in the way of the poster’s actual intent.

We have our regional experts, John in Saudi, China Guy, etc.

As I’m writing this I didn’t realize just how large this list could get—and that’s just the heavy-hitting ten to twenty thousand postcount posters (where do they find the time?!). There’s also the chefs, the programmers, the mathematicians, the auto mechanics, the just-this-side-of-trolls, the crafters, the knitters, the musicians… the list goes on and on, and certain names are associated with the categories.

Anaamika is one of our resident experts on things Indian I believe, and I’ve always thought she was a she.

I’ve always thought of myself (and other lurkers) as the sand that makes up the SDMB beach. Sure, you notice the old rowboat, the pier, the dunes, etc., a lot more, but the beach is mainly made up of sand. None are all that distinguishable in their own right—but get one in a sandwich, an eye, a sandcastle, or make a keepsake, and the grains stand out.

Rhythmdvl is a percussionist (I seem to recall something specifically about West African percussion) and a fan of first-person shooter games. He’s also involved in maintaining at least one website and may be a legal professional of some stripe (or at least has firm opinions on matters of law and jurisprudence).

I’m not sure how I got the impression you were a dudette…

Sadly, I’ll probably be back to thinking you’re a she in a few days. >_>

You’re not alone. I thought it was a feminine name too. :smack:

You’re right, fisha, about me not rocking the boat too much. You’ll rarely see me in GD or the Pit. I’ve gotten much more mellow in my old age  and don’t get too excited about the small stuff.

I’m almost afraid to ask for someone to do me.

I always thought Elendil’s Heir was a guy. Tolkien liked softer male names.

I think you are on the younger side, college age probably. I think you are among the Furry or Anime crowd. You like cats.

Damn that is all I recall. Sorry about that.

STG also looks cute in a kimono (and owns a few), and seems to have an affinity for tigers and tiger-related things (duh) and Japanese culture as a whole.

Rhythmdvl, I do indeed own a cat. Or rather, two cats own me.

Yeah, you do the kimono otaku thing. That’s all I can think of for you, but I know I’ve been noticing you a lot more around here lately.

Okay, do me. God, what a narcissist.
