Misinterpreted thread titles

Carney Deals with Trump (USA trade war against Canada

Every deal Trump does is a carny deal since he smarmily lies all the time and the game is rigged.

I thought floating goalposts were going to be metaphorically extremely slippery arguments

I took the phrase too literally. I pictured them bobbing amongst the whitecaps.

Your perception is far better.

Asshole lawn care company employees

If your asshole needs lawn care, you’ve got bigger problems…

Fucking plovers

Well, at least the plovers are no longer disqualified from joining the FBI…

It’s even better if one doesn’t know that a “plover” is a sort of bird. And instead assumes it’s some Aussie slang for [whatever].

It happens I did know what a plover is, but I could as easily have been in the other camp.

Fucking pullovers

Why can’t Brits just call them “sweaters,” like God intended?

(I haven’t posted in this thread in years, and I swear I hadn’t seen the previous post citing the same OP.)

Sorry - above post is in the wrong thread. I didn’t realize we had two similar threads going.

You could say I misinterpreted the thread title.

First time having one thread qualifying for BOTH threads:

Your hooptie of necessity

Only now after actually opening and reading the thread do I see that it is NOT about a specific type of fashion accessory around a male’s neck, but a…type of car, of all things?! Alternate term for a generic beater or rolling wreck? Huh, wow. Sure would like to know the etymology of THAT…

See my post in the “Origin of Hooptie” FQ thread.

Ketamine Q

That usage of “Q” as an abbreviation for “question” always throws me off. I kept thinking “Ketamine Q” was a special kind of Ketamine, like regular Claritin versus Claritin D.

You were not alone.

I keep thinking of it as a member of the Q Continuum. (Along with Than and Fuh.)

Creatures from the Moat Dimensions, now on the Sunday late-nite movie!

Boondocks. Out in, or down in?

Only clue going in that it was not about the comic strip was that it was in IMHO and not CS.

Today I learned there is something called the The Boondocks (comic strip) - Wikipedia. Wiki says it ran from 1996-2006. News to me from end to end.

Thanks for that info.

Probably more widely known from the animated series. And the self-hating Uncle Rucus.

(Language NSWF.)

And a most excellent strip (and animation) it was, IMO.

The khazar hypothesis of Ashkenazi Jewry

I read this as Ashkenazi JEWELRY. Soooo very not that. Well, my birthday is next month, and I was thinking of a possible prezzie for myself. Never mind.
