Mist and Murk in the MMP!

One thing I’ve learned, as much hand sanitizer as we’re all using lately - hand sanitizer is a surefire detection method for even the smallest scratches, scrapes, etc.

Yeah, I’ve seen memes of hand sanitizer stations labeled “Paper Cut Detection Area” or similar.

So, for those following along with my life, my and Ruble’s long-time friend who recently confessed that he loved me (hereafter known as FWB) came over yesterday. The plan was to go to breakfast, then come back here. Well, we never made it to breakfast … and did I mention that he’s 15 years younger than me? That’s all I can say in this polite company.

And to make it more interesting, my Gentleman Caller (GC) is still in the picture but is still completely a gentleman – damn it.

FWB knows of GC and is encouraging me to do what makes me happy because, for valid reasons, it’s highly unlikely to ever be a permanent thing with FWB.

I’ve never been in this situation before and it’s certainly made my life interesting. And I just know that Ruble is up there somewhere laughing his head off.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheatenization (I have ush duty for both services), headin’ back to da cave to eat leftover Chinese food for N.O.L., nappage, and chili/cheese/slaw dawgs for sup with fartfest to follow. Sounds like enough of a plan to me!

wheelie hope you have an easy time dealin’ with the UI folks and may you be able to get back to irk soon.

Miss_Owl havin’ more than one gentleman vie for your attention is never a bad thing. Sit back and allow yourself to be admired and adored.

shoe it’s not nice to confused stoned people.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! We are having a reasonably lazy day here, it’s Sunday and that’s enough justification for me. Laundry’s on, I have xmas cards to write and I should really push the vacuum cleaner round.

Drama across the road today, when I got up there were two ambulances outside - one across from the house, and one on the corner of the next street. They were attending an emergency at the house on the corner occupied by a multi-generation Asian family. They eventually took someone away but were doing CPR in the street so it doesn’t look good. I remember that family having a wedding about 10 years ago which resulted in one man wandering around with a blood-soaked towel round his head, and us calling the police as half a dozen guys where having a fistfight that ended up in our front garden.

Wheelie I hope you have an easy time dealing with unemployment people and you’re not suffering unduly from another shutdown.

Miss_Owl I agree with Swampy, having two gentlemen in the picture is to be enjoyed, and I am sure Ruble is getting plenty of entertainment from the idea that you are so well provided-for!

metalmouse we had an amazing trip courtesy of Amtrak. We flew into San Diego and had a couple of days there, then travelled to Santa Barbara (overnight stay), then caught the Coast Starlight all the way up to Seattle. After two or three days in Seattle, we caught a bus from there to Vancouver for a few more days, then flew back to the UK. On a different trip, we went from San Francisco to Portland by train too, might have been the same route.

Yesterday we braved the festering cesspool of infection in our local town so we could do some essential shopping. Got the last of the xmas gifts (the rest are coming via Da Jungle) and, after a visit to the good chocolate shop, I seem to have two extra blocks of chocolate (one is 70% Dark and the other is Ginger). Oh well, I’ll have to find a good home for them.

Tomorrow I am venturing to my office on campus, just for the day. I have some stuff I need to take back as I’m not using it and it’s in the way, and I need a couple of things from my desk. I’m driving in as I’m doing my best to avoid public transport and campus is surrounded by schools so the bus and train are all full of kids anyway. Fun and games!

Miss_Hussy - I certainly hope you’re taking precautions! You do wear a mask, right??

:open_mouth:

Gotta be sneaky today. Turns out Roxy isn’t going to see her grandma, so I’m going to text when I leave and SIL will take her to the playground while I’m bringing her big present in and wrapping it. My car is full of stuff - I’m going to try to fit their fire pit in but I may have to take it later in the week. Or on Christmas morning. Either way.

I just noticed that the little raised area on the J on my keyboard is no longer there. It’s got to be defective because I don’t use that many J-words! the bump on the F is OK, and I know I use that key more often (make your own joke here!) No point here, just felt I needed to share. 'Cause not a lot else is going on here right now…

BooFae - what is Ginger Chocolate?

Shall we proceed? Happy Sunday!!

Yes ma’am. And we used coasters too for … never mind.

Shortly after FWB left, two more men came over and the three of us wore masks. I told FWB they were coming over (we all know each other but they don’t need to know about us) and joked that I felt like I was running a brothel!

Spoiler for you perverts – the two guys are a couple a la Swampy and OYKW and they just stopped by to pick up a couple of things.

I used a spoon. Sheesh.

Actually, I started with a disposable plastic, and quickly upgraded to one of my Asian soup spoons (the ones with the flat bottom) cuz the plastic teaspoon just wasn’t holding a sufficient quantity of syrup.

Love this mental image.

Except, who’s gonna wind up directing traffic will be our asstnt. manager: a tall, scruffy, appropriately stonerrific lookin’ dude-bro.

Now I’m gonna spend the day picturing him in a satin evening gown & giggling into my mask.

This gave me the warm fuzzies - I am so utterly happy for you!

(I’m also happy for me cuz your story gave me hope for my own lonely self.)

Okay, well, onto the day.

The Big Bin is already preemptively dragged to the curb, cuz I had a sneaking suspicion that I was not gonna wanna deal with it tonight. It is FULL - god, I really did move with a lot of unnecessary junk, didn’t I? - and I wanna make absolutely sure it’s not forgotten tomorrow morning.

Cats just split a can of gooshy-food, and the rats all just split a half a bag of brown rice, cuz I was too tired to feed them last night. Naughty purple! So now, the ratties are contentedly rattling their water bottles, and the kitties are contentedly rattling their purr-boxes.

It’s only me, who hasta put on pants & go outside and irk for the day. Hmph.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean and watch handegg.

Now you need a maid and butler dresses in Amish garb to supervise your callers as they wait their appointments. But yay!

Don’t forget teetering around to and fro on stilettos!:lipstick::dancer:t3::high_heel:

{{{doggio}}} Don’t irk too hard.

OW, friends (or in my case, neighbors) with benefits work out well sometimes when you need that human touch but not yet ready for a lot of strings. Mazel tov!

Up, caffeinating, a load of towels in the wash and getting ready to fold the laundry from yesterday (I’m doing more and more of that with the longer hours cutting out my half day Firdays).

In a bit, I’ll make the marinade for the bulgogi that I’m fixing for bibimbap tonight. I’ll do a quick miso soup to go with because I opened a package of miso last weekend and, even though it’s fairly shelf stable, I don’t want it to get forgotten in the back of the cabinet.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. This was my once-every-two-months trip to Krispy Kreme and the donuts are happily raising my blood sugar levels as I type. More soccer this afternoon (1-3pm) for the 10-11 year olds. Nice looking outside and 47F heading for the mid-50’s.

I think you do us a dis-service here, ma’am…

boo fae, sounds like a nice trip. I’ve taken the train from Seattle to Vancouver once, but not the rest.

OK, need to do the appropriate cleanup and set the dishwasher to washing. All y’all take care.

Had to run to the dollar store - I ran out of cat food! Oh, there was still enough for a couple of days and I considered running into WalMart after I was done at my daughter’s, but I’m pretty sure I don’t want to go into that store on a Sunday in December. So I won’t.

The car is loaded - I even managed to fit the fire pit box in there. So I’ll be leaving in a bit. Not sure what I’ll do when I come home - I already cleaned the critter fountain, and I’ll empty the dishwasher before I leave. Not sure I can handle a life of leisure. Maybe I’ll vacuum and dust. :open_mouth:

Hello everyone. I have been MIA due to irk being well irk. I have a ton of training to finish with a short deadline. I am going to be teleworking for two days a week so I have chosen Tuesday and Thursday. I chose those days becasue I need to be there on Moandays and Firday. Moandays are our busiest week of the year and Firdays I have to do payroll. Can’t do that from home.

I went to the ortho doc on Tuesday and got a cortisone shot in my left knee. The weather turned a little cool and it was hurting pretty bad. It is already hurting again today as we are getting another cold front. So pills are needed today.

I am really getting lonesome at home and due to the plague I am not going anywhere. Barely to the store. The plague is bad enough here that there is a curfew for the New Year Eve as usually about 60K extra people descend for the dropping of various items. Well any dropping this year must be done by 10 PM and one is not supposed to be out on the street at all between 10 and 6 am. It will be interesting to see how that gets enforced. I shall be at home anyway not making a big deal of it.

Well I guess I will go read to see what all you Mumpers are up to.

One more day of irk for a while, and it looks to be a busy one.
We’ve been doing online ticketing since we reopened, because our total admission is supposed to be capped. But management plays games with the numbers. I keep checking on line, and we’re sold out, then we’re not sold out, then we are, then not. Usually, there are enough no-shows that it’s not a problem. But there have been a few nice-weather days when we clearly had way more people there than we should have. I think today might be one of those days. Let them rake in the dollars while they can, I guess.

After today I’ll have more time for Doping, and my posts will undoubtedly become even more mundane. Aren’t y’all lucky?

Today we did our 6th walk in 6 days, to help with hubby’s high blood pressure and my lack of fitness.

I asked hubby to put a new battery in the bathroom scale as it was being weird this morning. The new battery did not help things, so it seems that shopping for a new bathroom scale is now on the agenda for tomorrow. I think most people start looking at the scales after New Year’s, so I guess I’m just in rush to get this year over and done with.

Got pears poaching in red wine on the stove and will start assembling springerle cookies as soon as the dishwaser is done with it’s cycle. Until then, got my butt planted on the couch and readying through the Dope.

Happy Sunday!

It’s a dis-service to call you “polite company”?? :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh, and FCM, we also failed spectacularly at social distancing.

Have the stealth babies been found yet?

36o now, with a predicted high of 39. Highs in the upper 30s and lows in the mid-20s the next few days, with at most “partly cloudy” skies. We did get a little snow yesterday, but the few flakes that may have stuck got washed away when the snow turned to rain.

Breakfast has been eaten but caffeine has not yet been consumed, and I really ought to go up and take my morning pills. (Yes, it’s 1255. So? I’ve only been up about two hours…)

Made a Hatch chillie and cheddar omelet, hasbrown with Mexican Oregano, and bacon for brunch. Cleaned the kitchen, bthroom, and dusted. Time to vacuum!
