Mist and Murk in the MMP!

Ditto, though I can’t remember if I was buying white, red, or both.

When I was of an age to worry about such things, the drinking age in IL was 18 for beer and wine, 21 for eveyrthing else. A few miles north, in WI, it was 18 for everything. So a friend and I started going up to Kenosha when I was 17. None of this nonsense of going to a bar and hoping to get served – we went to a liquor store and started picking out bottles. I know I bought rum and scotch on our first visit, and am pretty sure there was a third bottle, too. The friend got carded on our second or third visit to the store (he was 18 so no problem), but I never did. Ah, the good old days…

Heh, I had a surprise trip to the ER last Saturday night. Thought I was taken ahold of by the Covid, or having a heart attack. Checked out okay but I was concerned about the appropriateness of my evening casual attire of lounge wear and fuzzy slippers in a potentially crowded waiting room. Place was deserted thankfully. No matter they made me take it off anyway for monitoring purposes. I was glad I at least showered that morning.

Long, long ago (early '70s) I read a book written by a doctor. One of his patients was a woman who had broken her arm. She had to go back to see him again – perhaps to have the cast removed – wearing a fur coat, underneath which she was wearing nothing but the sling.

Thanks for the thought. Financially we’ll be fine, even without the extra bonus unemployment bucks this time around. Though I was fortunate to have had no issues with the State’s system before, despite it being completely overwhelmed. Several of my colleagues still haven’t gotten everything they’re entitled to, and I may not be so lucky this time.
Also, I got really tired of not working. We’re supposedly shut down until January 4, but I suspect it will be longer.

(Robot)
That does not compute.

Howdy Y’all! I rolled pee-kahns for about three hours then I left. Others were still at it. I am such a slacker! Called OYKW, who placed our order, stopped that the Chinese place and picked it up, got back to da cave, changed into cave attire (tshirt and jammie pants), et, and took a little nap. EYP called and said he had a little gift for me and would like to bring it by, and so he did. It was a pee-kahn pie he made himself even! He made one for every member of the Vestry as a thank you. So nice of him. Made, of course, from church yahd pee-kahns. We sampled after he left and I sent him a text to tell him that southern grannies everywhere would approve of his pee-kahn pie. :pie: Not a pee-kahn pie emoji, but close enough.

Supper wound up being pulled poke, steak fries, and mixed veggies. Boring but quick and easy. Dishwasher is sloshing away and we’re in chillage mode. I was going to clean the critter fountain, but that’ll wait till tomorrow, just because.

I think I’ll change into comfy sweats and my fuzzy robe for max chillage.

Me three. I have 2 international stamps begging to be used, and 2 handmade Christmas cards. I love sending cards.

At least there are grannies emojis…:older_woman:t2::older_woman:t4::older_woman:t6::older_woman:t2::older_woman:t3: ~ :older_man:t3::older_man:t6::older_man:t4::older_man:t5::older_man:t3: Grandpas too.

I’m proud of myself-earlier I pulled together some bbq ground turkey sloppy joe filling and I’m letting the flavors meld before my roomie gets off work and we can grab supper. It’s unusual for me to do the cooking this early in the day. Plus, I have plans for the bbq turkey Joe’s leftovers to be our hot meal protein Monday or Tuesday. Made enough for 4 hearty sandwiches. Roomie is a customer service live chat specialist working (quite happily I might add, she’s an introvert par excellence) from home, otherwise known as her bedroom and we loosely take turns cooking. Basically who-doesn’t-want-to-cook-the-most doesn’t have to. It works out about even. I’m a better cook of course, but I should be, I’ve got 39 years on her-old enough to be her granny. I’ve got experience, she’s got energy. Some frozen vegetable will be nuked up also, with a fruit offered as dessert-bring that pee-Khan pie right over here. Set it right down on that pie plate coaster, thereja go.

Back from Errands Pt. 1, eating Chick-Fil-A nuggets before braving the stupid and the crowds for Errands Pt. 2. The Instant Pot is sitting in my kitchen (I sure hope it’s not as big once it’s out of the box, or counter space will be a major challenge), and some groceries have been procured. Surprising how challenging a basic whole chicken can be to come by in my area. One store just didn’t have any, another had ones that are probably too large for the Instant Pot and had horrific lines. First Saturday afternoon of the month and that few registers open? Seriously?

Late Afternoon all. Been helping with the youth indoor soccer since 10:30am, taking attendance and helping coach, so had some fun, even if wearing a mask for 6 hours straight isn’t a whole lot of fun. Lots of kids with energy to burn off, so everyone had a good time.

I’m flattered by the folks who want me to drop by, but most Amtrak stops are not longer than 3-4 minutes, depending on how many passengers there are. Better idea is to buy a ticket to the next stop and have someone meet you there while we catch up in relative comfort. Ask me again in March what I’m planning.

pee-khan pie sounds really tempting about now. May have to go foraging for one.

Wheelie, hope the finances stay stable.

OK, need to get out of soccer-playing clothes and into something slightly more presentable. Had planned to eat in but the monthly budget is looking pretty good, so maybe some Logan’s meatloaf…

In 3-4 minutes I can thrust a corsage at you, throw a hug around you and send you on your way with a picnic basket with sustenance and local hooch. Try me.

It’s the suitors with tattoos and shifty nicknames and smutty motives that have to worry about time constraints. Hell, I just wanna lay my sore eyes on a real live Mumper!

You’d think, right?
For the first couple months I would find some small household chore to take care of every day, both to stave off boredom and to use my time productively. But eventually I sort of ran out of closets to clean of shelves to organize. Under normal circumstances I’d have been able to go places and do things, but these have not been normal circumstances. The Groundhog Day-ness of it all was getting to me, and I was absolutely thrilled to go back to irk when I did.

When you get situated…

There are Instant Pot recipes everywhere now, but this site is one I like. The site claims to have over 1,100 recipes. :astonished:

Co-worker recommended a Mexican place nearby, and I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fajitas.

They were … okay. No grilled onions, and it’s not like I’m going to eat the bell pepper, ew. The beans and tortillas are definitely house-made, though, and frankly I’m just happy to have a full tummy without having had to cook or clean up.

Dessert is some maple syrup. Yes, straight up. Just because.

Don’t you go getting sick on us, now!

Ugh, tomorrow they’re supposed to start having customers go through this tunnel, and be served via us being in a shipping container rather than running in & out.

Customers are gonna be confused, if nothing else because we’re reversing the direction of the line after they’ve had months to get used to doing things a certain way.

Should be “fun.”

herald, it sounds like you grew up in a similar time to me. I lived in northern Indiana, where the drinking age for everything was 21. However, one could drive 50 miles east to Ohio for 3.2 beer, 40 miles north to Michigan for beer, 75 miles west to Illinois for beer and wine or just take a weekend trip to Sheboygan for a two day party.

{{{wheelie}}} May you not get bored or run out of money.

shoe, did you at least use a shot glass for your maple syrup? :stuck_out_tongue:

While running around this afternoon, I heard an interview on NPR with a member of the Fraternal Order of Real Beard Santas and chuckled while thinking of ruble.

Yesterday, when I got into the car from the stop at Aldi, the strap on my purse broke. It was a daily driver that I’d had for a couple of years, purchased when I didn’t know how much money I’d be out from the ER bill after totaling the Toyota. It was a Tar-jay purse, but didn’t look bad. Last night, I decided to give myself a Christmas present and ordered a cross body tablet bag (it will serve as a purse most of the time) from Wilson Leather. My favorite purse in the closet right now was purchased a couple of decades ago from them and still looks good. It’s in brown though and I don’t wear a lot of brown office shoes these days.

I took Nelson to the dog park where he got to run with Ollie, a shaggy small dog, Chico, a chihuahua and the other chiweenie Jack, who kept trying to hump everybody. He ran off quite a bit of energy. We went through the drive thru at the BBQ down the street, where I got ribs and he got a pup cup of smoked turkey. Now for chillage.

Get Vanna White out to help.

Enjoy the new purse. My favorite of all time was a black leather Coach I lucked into at a thrift shop. Wore that til it fell apart beyond repair. Never could afford a replacement. There is just something about real leather. My big brother has carried a Coach bag for years-woe on him who bothers him about it too. I keep hoping for a hand me down…

shoe - my fatigue and aches were from manual labor, not plague. Minimal injuries with the worst being a skinned thumb knuckle. Even that didn’t bother me except when I washed my hands - the soap stings!

I ordered a new purse but it hasn’t shipped yet. My favorite was a cheapie from Wal-Mart but they don’t carry it any longer. My current one is from Kohl’s and I was never that crazy about it. Hope I like the new one.

Closing in on bedtime. I am soooooo ready… zzzzzzz

It was pouring when I got to work. and I had to unload the smalls bags trailer, since the seasonal people didn’t want to work
[Rupert Holmes]
:notes: If you like heaving smalls bags
in a trailer in the rain
if you’re not into resting
you may be functionally insane :notes: [/Rupert Holmes]
I had to stay later for the shift, because the other seasonal hires wandered off before we had finished loading the bags onto the trailer. So instead of being able to go home and snack and walk Gordie between shifts, I just had time to sit in my car for 10min and listen to the death metal show on the local college station. And Second sort ran long, so I am pooped. Need beer.

Wheelz, good luck with the unemployment site.

And {{{{hugs}}}} for anybosy who needs it.
