I took Frankie in, and gave her a hot meal and a warm bath. I gave her warm flannel pyjamas, and a glass of milk before I put her into her soft, warm bed. The milk was poisoned. She drifted off to sleep forever. She’ll never know a life of poverty. I knew I could make it happen.
