I’ve always used @ as a stand-in for either “At” or “About”. This latter version was what I was using it for there.
Another from Pod People:
The camera is going through the fog at the beginning-
Crow: It was a dark and stormy night. I’d taken a creative writing course…
I still remember the line “Take the Santa Monica Freeway” from The Day the Earth Froze when I saw it almost ten years ago. It was especially funny to me at the time because that freeway had just been rendered pretty useless by the Northridge earthquake. Angeleno humour, I guess.
Track of the Moon Beast:
(Character in movie takes a bow and arrow set from the back of a car):
Crow: I swiped these from Indian while he was crying about the garbage.
“Solipsism is its own reward.”
Crow: NOOOOOO advertising!!
Camera coming in over a pretty much untouched landscape… Tops a hill and there is a single very tall tower with nothing else around… One of the bots says
“Look! Northern Illinois University!”
I was IN DeKalb at the time and the tall tower in question was the Holmes Center, visible out the window of the room I was in. And yes… Its the only tall thing anywhere in the area and is commonly referred to by the student body as the John Holmes Center…
Oh, while I’m thinking about it too, there were a couple good one from Attack of the Killer Shrews as well… In one scene a woman is pointing a handgun at a guy…
Guy: “I dont understand!”
Crow: “Well, you see the hammer strikes the primer…”
Elsewhere on the island a guy has climbed a tree to escape the shrews. The scene switches back to him…
Servo: “Meanwhile back at the branch…”
The whole end-title song that Crow and Tom sang to Final Justice had me in stitches:
TOM: Meat … balls … fried in la-ard!
TOM & CROW: Eat eat eat eat, eat eat eat eat, munch munch munch munch, munch munch munch munch, gorge gorge gorge gorge, chew chew chew chew –
TOM: Stuff lotsa food in yo’ … baby face!
Woops! My mistake. That middle line should have read:
TOM & CROW: *Eat eat eat eat, eat eat eat eat, munch munch munch munch, gorge gorge gorge gorge, chew chew chew chew, burp burp burp burp –
From Werewolf, when the characters are playing pool wearing extremely tight T-shirts:
Mike: Time! Everyone go up a shirt size!
From Space Mutiny, when the “soldiers” go flying through the air during a fight.
Servo: Well, they rented a pneumatic catapult and dammit, they’re gonna use it.
Heh. It’s a testament to how much unlike the interior of a space ship the sets in Space Mutiny were, that when characters went flying through the air (which you’d expect them to do in zero gravity), it looked out-of-place.
Favorite quotes from the movie:
(plane starts flashing green)
“Eat at Joe’s…Eat at Joe’s…Eat at Joe’s…”
“I suddenly have a refreshing mint flavor!”
“Oh, there was green switch, it was there all the ime!”
(when he climbs into the jet and the workman takes the ladder away)
“Other people need to use this ladder, ya know…”
(When the guy drives his Jeep into the airfield)
“Pass, Can I see your pass, sir…oh, whatever.”
“Keanu Reeves in My Own Private Airfield…”
“Putting the men’s room in the tower, what was I thinking?”
This looks like a job for Weenie Man! To the Weeniemobile! Weenie Man, Away!
The wonderful “little winged potatoes!” from Pod People have been mentioned, but I want to add a vote for the “Chief?” “McCloud!” jokes from the same movie, among others:
“Beastmaster?”
“Ringo?”
“Axel?”
“Sinead?”
“Chief?”
“McCloud!”
and
“Good night, Mother.”
“Good night, John Boy.”
“Good night, Hardcastle.”
“Good night McCormack.”
“Good night Chief.”
“Good night, McCloud.”
Heehee.
