I need to stop shopping when I’m feeling the need to cheer myself up.
I went down to the neighbourhood bookshop to pick up The Boy’s gift (a cookbook on smoking/curing meats, and a copy of the latest Cinefex magazine), and on the way back home I happened to pass one of the chi-chi boutiques that always has the most adorable shoes.
Of course, I walked out with a new pair of boots. They’re utterly fabulous black patent boots that I can wear just about anywhere and anytime (well, except maybe to sleep in or bathe in), but I need a new pair of shoes like I need a hole in the head, no matter how fabulous said pair might be.
I am not happy with AT&T wireless right now. Ever since Thursday night or Friday morning, the reception on our cells phones while in the house has been terrible. I could see if it was one of our phones, but it’s all of them. We’ve never had a problem before. This of course makes it difficult to carry on a conversation because every few words are cut out.
Of course, no one is available for tech chat on-line on Sundays.
The final kicker is that our landline phone has been wonky for awhile. We weren’t too concerned about it because we had our cell phones, but now we need to go out and buy a new landline phone too. Stupid landline handsets kept telling us we weren’t close enough to our base, even when we’re standing right next to the base.:mad:
Friend A came over and helped me do some clearing out of junk here in the den, and I was able to hook up the old printer/scanner to the new 'puter - Yay. Now I can start my taxes.
Taters it is my opinon that cordless landline phones are designed to fubar approximately every three years. At least that seems to be so with me. That’s why I have one ummm… would that be corded, cordful,… one that ain’t cordless. It’s a wallphone in the kitchen just in case. I’ve had that one forever. Well, fifteen years anyway.
The cellphone problem sounds like it could be a degraded tower in your area especially if it’s only around home you’re having the problem.
Oh, I’m sorry, FCM, excuse the oversight. Here it is.
::runs off, hoping to dodge The Look::
Why yes, I am punchy. What was your first clue?
Good luck with the phone shopping, Taters. The last couple of times I’ve bought phones, I’ve had to take at least one back before I found one where the other person could hear me properly. I also have a corded wall phone in the kitchen. It’s handy when the power is out.
I am currently avoiding finishing up in the kitchen. Just went to Target and acquired more than I intended to. They are having a tremendous sale on DVDs (nothing says “it’s becoming old technology” like ginormous sale). Nonetheless, I splurged and got: Star Trek, Night at the Museum 2, and Up for $9 each. Also picked up Notting Hill for $5 and all 4 Oceans movies (the original and the 3 new ones) for $9.99. I’d been looking for it since before Christmas. I scored the last one at my Target for my brother and really wanted it for me as well. So, if I run out of other things to watch, I have all kinds of shiny new stuff. Yay!
Am eating taxi’s Asian noodles (this time just with snap peas because I was lazy) for dinner and then will have an orange and then it’s back to the kitchen, to be followed by the bath. Don’t suppose FCD is interested in stopping by to do either job?
I don’t have to work tomorrow, so I was thinking I’d get us started off, unless someone else has an idea. (I don’t have one yet, but I’ll come up with something…)
It’s alright, hubby and I don’t usually even acknowledge today as something special. Besides, we went out on Friday night anyway.
Is it bad that I’m seriously eyeing the chocolate my daughter left behind when she moved out? I told her again yesterday when she visisted to take it home, but she doesn’t want to be tempted. Um, I don’t either…sigh. Must…be…strong…and…resist.
We went out to Damon’s for supper, and it was less than satisfactory. Just slow all around. Had to wait to be seated even tho there were lots of tables open. Food was slow coming. Server was waaaaaay slow bringing FCD’s sour cream for his N.O.T. Then when she finally brought out bill, it was the wrong one, so we had to wait for her to come back to get our bill… And the food was mediocre.
But we’re home. I’ll be assuming the knitting position soon. Tomorrow, Scruffy and Ziva go to the vet and daughter is taking her car in for an oil change.
I’m glad this is a long weekend. I really need it, despite only working 2 days last week.
