My 5 year old niece says Obama kills babies

I was over at my parents’ house yesterday because my sister-in-law and her 3 daughters, who are of course my nieces, were visiting. The girls are ages 12, 10 and 5. They are each bright and active girls. I was playing the kids card game Fling with the 5 year old - and getting my rear end kicked, BTW - when she announced “Obama kills babies.” I was just floored. To my knowledge the older girls had never said such a thing. I told her that wasn’t true, that Obama was a nice man who’d never killed anyone and that anyone who told her that was very wrong. She said Mr. Smith had told her that, Smith being the father of a classmate of one of the other girls, who I met at one of the girls’ birthday parties.

My sister-in-law is Very Catholic and Very Right to Life.

I am kind of Catholic and am anti-Abortion, a Democrat who volunteered for Obama, and I want very much to punch Mr. Smith in the nose the next time I see him.

Perhaps Mr. Smith was talking about Obama in his role as commander in chief.

Should a slutty girl be able to use abortion as a last resort contraception method? Fuck no!

I’m kinda sorta pro-life and I think the slutty girl should be able to do whatever she wants during the first trimester.

Why? Why should a woman be forced to go through an unwanted pregnancy?

Did you miss the part where she was slutty?

It’s her body, it’s her choice. If she doesn’t want to have a baby, she shouldn’t be forced to. Unless you’re talking about 3rd trimester abortion, which is definitely a more muddled and ambiguous topic than 2nd or 1st trimester abortion.

I think I’m pretty much where you are except when it comes to the second trimester, I think we give the baby SOME rights as some point during the second trimester (which can be overcome by concerns about health of the mother).

Is the first amendment limited to people who have reached their majority? Is the fifth amendment limited to adults? Then why would we limit the second amendment in such a fashion. The right to bear arms shall not be abridged PERIOD FULL STOP, you’ll pry it from little Cindy’s cold dead hands.

Actually, First Amendment protections are significantly limited for minors.

If we’re going to turn this into a serious discussion, can we at least all agree that regardless of what your views are about abortion you really shouldn’t be discussing them with a five year old girl?

People who would say something like “Obama kills babies” are on the intellectual level of a 5 year old. That’s why they discuss it with them.
