New Show: Lucifer

That would explain pulling a rabbit out of his hat, not magically appearing on the roof of a building he never knew existed until a few minutes ago. Every adult knows that stage magicians have all kinds of behind the scenes props, and months of rehearsal, to do non-trivial tricks.

Good point! But I think Chloe needs to think of him in non-supernatural terms, despite the fact that he keeps telling her he actually is the devil himself.

Well, to be honest, the show is set in LA. Place probably rivals New Orleans for strange shit happening.

Declan

Chloe was continuously talking. There was no cut.

In fairness, if someone told you they were the devil, would you believe them no matter how many “odd” things kept happening around them?

No, they would have to pull off some pretty spectacular, not-easily-debunked stuff to get me to even start to believe them.

I would like a tour of Hell, of course, provided I knew that the trip was not a one-way deal.

And to be fair - around Chloe he’s been ‘devilish’ - but not ‘evil’ - when one commonly thinks of the devil, one does not usually think of him as the one ‘seeking justice’.

But he’s gone way beyond the merely “odd.” Just off the top of my head, she’s seen him get hit by several bullets without being wounded, teleport various distances and heights, throw a 250-pound guy across a room with one hand, and reduce people to jelly with his scary face. She also saw (or at least heard) his 100-pound unarmed female minion defeat a dozen or so heavily armed gang members in about a minute.

While all of that doesn’t prove he’s Satan, it does leave something supernatural as the best explanation. And I say this as a confirmed atheist.

Anybody else think that its more than just a case of Detective Douche being on the take?

Yes. I hope it’s connected to why Lucy doesn’t affect Chloe.

That’s where your suspension of disbelief comes in, so you can put yourself in Chloe’s “Where did he go now? Do I need to keep him on a leash?” mind. FTR, he’d be all for her putting him on a leash.

But I remember when I still had a suspension of disbelief. It’s latest blow came when I started watching 28 Days Later last night. A scientist tries to stop some animal liberation types from releasing some research chimps because they had been “infected with rage.” :dubious: How could he tell? ALL adult male chimps have been infected with rage, like all bonobos have been infected with horniness. Took me right out of the movie.

I think you missed the whole point of 28 Days Layer. “Rage” was the nickname given to the virus that the chimps were infected with, not their natural anger factor. You know, the virus that turned everyone into mindless flesh-eating automatons?

Loved tonight’s episode. I really enjoyed seeing a bit more “human” side of Lucifer, and seeing Chloe warming up to him a bit more. They really do have good chemistry. Also,

I have to admit I didn’t see it coming that Amenadiel was setting up Moustache Boy to be the thug who takes down Lucifer (after their conversation in the episode where they were trying to get Lucifer’s wings back).

Liked how Chloe left Dan and their night home alone together to go be with Lucifer because he needed her. Their piano duo (and Lucifer’s with Father Frank) were charming.

Yeah, pretty much liked everything about this episode. Possibly my favorite so far.

‘of course he has a plan, just no one bothers to ask if its a good one’.

That was a great line!

I always enjoy the show, but this is one of the best! Loved the Lucifer / Father Frank piano scene. They were, as Chloe stated, quite adorable together!

I like how this show repays rewatching, so I catch the fun visuals I miss first time through. Like the sight of Maze’s demon face in the mirror when she watches Chloe, while Chloe sleeps. Or all the angel imagery the dancers use during Lucifer’s “birthday” party. I love the music they use.

I particularly like Tom Ellis. He plays Lucifer as a bright but very spoiled adolescent who is disconcerted every time he discovers that he isn’t the center of the universe, and has to get the lesson over and over again. Even his obsessions with sex are more naughty adolescent than evil or perverted. I love how expressive Ellis’s face is, from wonderfully handsome and charming, to ugly and distorted (even without the cgi), and everything in between.

It’ll be interesting to see if mustache man is able to hurt Lucifer, or if it is only Chloe or another angel who can. I vote for his continued invulnerability. I suspect that Amendiel is falling, even as Lucifer is being redeemed, and will be the next ruler of hell.

My WAG is that slowly Amenadiel is turning into Satan, while Lucifer is turning mortal.

Definitely agree on the first, not on the second. I think he still has his real wings hidden away, and burned the fake ones. As long as he has his wings, he is still one of the immortals.

Yeah, I can’t wait to see how this scenario plays out with the angel’s resurrected thug.

About the concept of “falling” – I was actually wondering the same thing about Amenendiel as he was punching Lucifer in a previous episode. Lucy was laughing at him, even though the blows obviously were quite effective (he looked pretty beaten up later on in the episode) – was he realizing that the more the self-righteous angel gives in to his anger, the more he “falls” ? He was actually egging his angelic brother on. Lucifer be be on to something about falling from grace…
