NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

He’s finally going to get Infrastructure Week done.

The fakest, most insincere speech I’ve ever seen. It screamed “I’m just saying what they want me to say but I don’t believe a word of it and neither should you”.

Which is saying something, because this isn’t even the first time Trump has had to give a fake, insincere apology speech.

Sen.Graham on Hannity. This is a repeat but I like it so there:

I’d say watch his eyes for blinking, but I seriously doubt he knows Morse code.

Or a raggwx sweater with “COURAGE MOM” picked out in Morse Code.

(Wag the Dog, for those who don’t know.)

Evans has now resigned from his political post.

Fuck you, West Virginia House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay:

Not everyone just attacked our nation’s capitol and then lied about it; most of us don’t need to take any steps here.

Fuck you and your equivalence.

And, I believe if you watch it closely, they had to piece the video together from multiple takes. He was so crazed he couldn’t even pretty to be sane for three minutes. Literally.

You KNOW what’s going on in his head. Wednesday was the pinnacle of his life, his shining moment, a Killdozer style revenge move against a world that refused to bend to his will. It was probably the longest he’s sustained an erection ever.

And everyone is trying to take that from him.

I’m afraid this is really a dangerous under reaction, but there are no good options. But it would be an easier decision if there were only one time bomb, but there’s millions of them out there.

:joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

And I was being completely serious. At first I was going with “forty years” then I thought about how long that day went on and changed it to ever.

The Arizona Republican Party is preparing to censure Cindy McCain for supporting Biden, opposing Individual 1, and objecting to his attacks on her dead husband.

Doesn’t say whether Trump was the same as he was four years ago, when Mulvaney called him a “terrible human being” ahead of the 2016 election.

Several Trump-minion GOP congress people have called on Biden for “unity” and “healing,” which can only be expressed by STOPPING IMPEACHMENT.

Some of them have tried a different tactic: trying to stop the impeachment from happening by arguing that it will only strengthen Trump and his violent fans (by giving Trump a Genuine Grievance, more or less). Jeff Flake is one of those:

It’s amazing how hard these Republicans are working to stop the impeachment process.

Those who would be called upon to vote might well prefer NOT to go on record as either supporting Mr. Insurrection or failing to support him. Those, like Flake, who don’t have to worry about that, may believe they can still salvage the honor (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) of the Republican Party, but that having a twice-impeached President be from their team will be embarrassing.

Whatever it’s about, they really, really, really do not want Trump to be impeached again.

The quote comes from:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/washington-post-live/wplive/former-sen-jeff-flake-says-president-trump-should-simply-be-shunned-after-he-leaves-office/2021/01/07/d3cc1202-87fd-4bf7-9b9b-247b12a8e3cd_video.html

He won’t be shunned and he needs to be prevented from ever running for public office again.
The Republicans have a problem. Actually, they have a thousand and one problems, but there’s one in particular that hasn’t been covered.

Their party - and more significantly - their fundraising apparatus, has been completely given to hard core Trump loyalists - who met after the insurrection to confirm their commitment to Donald Trump and are very upset whenever anyone suggests he did anything wrong Wednesday.

And this fund-raising apparatus is really corrupt and funds raised through it were used to fund the insurrection. I don’t think they have another fundraising platform.

Yes. And only conviction in the Senate (and subsequent vote) can accomplish that officially.

The irony is that a lot of Republicans would benefit from having Donald barred from further office–which would free up all those donations for their own ambitions.

But to get there, the GOP Senators–at least some of them–would have to either stay away from the vote (making the two-thirds majority 49 out of 73, say, which would count) or actually vote against Donald.

And even though they anxiously await the day when Donald’s fans will have transferred their violent allegiance to another GOP bully, that day isn’t here yet. So they would be placing themselves in actual danger.

Good points about the corruption of the right-wing fund-raising apparatus. Maybe establishment Republicans have faith that with Donald gone, it will go back to funding good old-fashioned, respectable vote-suppression efforts, instead of this newfangled violent insurrection stuff.

Amanda Chase, Republican candidate for Governor of Virginia, has had her twitter account suspended for pushing conspiracy theories.

What would happen if they voted “present”? I recall seeing the vote for something like establishing Schedule I, which passed unanimously even though no Democrats voted for it. If the senatoids vote “present”, the tally will still be 98 or 100 but will not have the required majority. Right?

Shaming or wagging a finger or furrowing a brow is not enough. Legally not allowing I know is a thing for an Impeached President… does that go down the line of elected officials?

Some politicians should do this justification according to their religions or a secular walk/video :grimacing:

I would enjoy a one city poop throwing at Trump video. A lottery could be done.

Jesus, how stupid are these people. Trump lost Arizona in a large part due to how shabbily Trump treated the highly revered John McCain, and they want to double down on this shit?
