tHaT’s SoCiAlisM!
Wow! That is so insane…
The county I work for has mean, mean winters. We also have free public buses.
The powers that be decided that for a November election we would use a few of those buses and park them outside polling places. Some of these buses have a back door and a front door. So, people could get out of the snow and wind and have a place to sit in a heated bus and not stand out in the cold. When their turn came up, they went inside and voted. Easy Peasy. THAT’S what it’s like living in a civilized, humane society.
Republicans want to deny people water. Lovely bunch they are.
Anything to avoid hearing the voice of the people. Fuck you, all of you, Republicans.
That is, the wrong kind of people.
(what’s that whistling noise I hear?)
The Georgia state Senate voted along party lines on Monday to repeal no-excuse absentee voting after the state sent two Democrats to the Senate and voted for a Democratic presidential nominee for the first time in decades.
The state Senate voted 29-20 to approve the legislation that would permit absentee voting only for those at least 65 years old, those who have a physical disability or those out of town, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Absentee voters in the Peach State would also have to provide voter identification, such as a driver’s license number or state ID number, to vote remotely.
…Opponents of the bill argue that ending no-excuse absentee voting would effectively restrict voting in the key battleground state, which voted for its first Democratic presidential candidate since 1992.
…
That’s the idea, isn’t it?
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) signed a Republican-championed bill on Monday that shortens the state’s early voting period and closes the polls earlier on Election Day.
The Iowa governor announced she had placed her signature on Senate File 413 along with a number of other bills, months after Iowa reported a record number of voters in the 2020 election.
Under the law, Iowa’s early voting period is reduced from 29 days to 20 days, and polls are scheduled to close at 8 p.m. for state and federal elections rather than 9 p.m. Any absentee ballots are required to arrive before the polls close, rather than the previous requirement of being in the mail the day before Election Day and arriving before noon the following Monday.
…Opponents of the legislation have argued that it will restrict voting and will not address election security.
Too dang many Democrats and black/brown people voting! Gots to fix that!
It’s nice how this thread exists in a quantum superposition of “(Stupid Republican) Idea of the Day” and “Stupid (Republican Idea) of the Day”. A story in the former category:
All else being equal, it’s a fine idea to eliminate the N-word from your vocabulary. One just wonders how it got there in the first place. Papa John himself can’t seem to explain things:
“We’ve had three goals for the last 20 months,” Schnatter said in the interview. “To get rid of this N-word in my vocabulary and dictionary and everything else, because it’s just not true, figure out how they did this, and get on with my life.”
Figure out how “they did this”? Did what? Make him say the N-word in the first place? In fact, just about every word in that statement is nonsensical. “We’ve”? What dictionary? And why has it taken 20 months to stop saying racist words?
Oh, sorry, that’s us Jews - our Space Mind Control Laser must have misfired and added the word to his mental dictionary.
Yeah - that ‘figure out how they did this’ business…
I would kill to see him elaborate on that.
Whoa! Your Space Laser can start forest fires AND add offensive words to dictionaries? Man, our WASP Space Laser can only discriminate, but it does have intentional and unintentional racism settings.
I have been inauthentic all this time by not being a racist asshole.
What an effin’ pig. I’d like to tell him he ain’t no prize, either. There is no way I would ever go to that church.
Tom Cotton is “outraged” that the stimulus checks will be going to “serial killers” (read: prisoners). He fails to note that the past two stimulus checks, which he voted for, also gave checks to prisoners.
Paul Gosar tweets out a white supremacist organization’s motto.
The MyPillow guy is, out of the goodness of his heart, offering to the “criminals” who stole the election, for them to surrender to him so he can help them get lighter jail sentences.
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Urges Election 'Criminals' to Surrender to Him for Less Prison Time?
{…} “America First is inevitable” is the motto of the “America First” white nationalist movement headed by the racist and anti-Semitic podcaster Nick Fuentes. {…}
Umm, “Fuentes is a Spanish language surname meaning “fountains”.” But I’m sure Nick is one of those good European Fuentes’.
I can’t remember if there’s a separate thread on trumpy demanding the Republican party stop using his name for fundraising presumably unless he gets a cut of the action. Well, this is pretty funny:
WASHINGTON ― The Republican National Committee on Monday told Donald Trump that it has every right under the First Amendment to continue mentioning him in fundraising missives, rejecting his demand last week to “cease and desist” from doing so.
“The RNC, of course, has every right to refer to public figures as it engages in core, First Amendment-protected political speech, and it will continue to do so in pursuit of these common goals,” General Counsel J. Justin Riemer wrote to the former president’s “Save America” political committee.
…The RNC stopped small-dollar fundraising entirely after the insurrection attempt, then resumed solicitations that mentioned issues or RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, but then eventually started mentioning Trump again ― even though none of the money raised was going to Trump anymore.
…From the time Trump became the GOP nominee through his four years in office, Trump’s campaign and the RNC combined spent $639,031 at Mar-a-Lago and $8.5 million in all at Trump’s businesses, as Trump insisted on directing donor money into his own pocket.
Dang. That First Amendment can bite you in the ass if you’re not careful.
From the context of the interview it sounds like he’s trying to figure out how the board got him tossed for being a racist. The sentences before this he said he was talking about how the board “knows he’s not a racist” and he “lays in bed just going how did they do this?”.
So my reading is that he’s saying that he will stop using the N-word at all because for some weird reason it led people to the think that he was racist. And then figure out how the board managed to oust him when he so obviously wasn’t racist.
The problem is, is that the next step is violence.
That seems stupid at first glance, but if you think about it for a minute, it gets even more stupid. How does a criminal even go about surrendering to a guy who makes pillows? And assuming one could, how does the pillow manufacturer help a criminal get a lighter sentence for his crime?
“I interfered with the election, and so did my wife.”
