Can anyone prove that Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene AREN’T the same person?
Woo hoo. Can’t wait to vote against her again. Maybe it will do some good this time.
Never mind. After looking up the proposed new districts, turns out I won’t be represented by her anymore. Sucks that I don’t get to vote against her, but at least I (hopefully) won’t be represented by an idiot anymore.
We need to start the rumor she’s actually a BLM-loving, commie agent provocateur*. Didn’t she give some of those Jan. 6ers a tour of the insides of the Capitol thus inveigling them to get arrested? That proves it!!1!
*Warning: Google search of the term is NSFW. When I did to verify the spelling I found there apparently is a company by that name that makes… interesting lingerie.
Was he holding the gun in his left hand at the time?
Maybe not so much
Well, I stand corrected on that one.
(most of rural Washington is still to be avoided whenever possible, though)
Couldn’t he be both, though?
Eleven House Republicans sent a letter to Marissa Mayer, warning Yahoo not to honor any subpoenas from the special committee investigating the January 6th insurrection.
Marissa Mayer resigned as CEO of Yahoo in 2017.
The idiocy of writing to the wrong person aside, would this letter actually violate any laws itself? They are basically threatening the firms not to comply with legal subpoenas.
I’m thinking the signatories are outing themselves as co-conspirators. At least, anti-democratic, treasonous pustules* bleeding gangrenous sores on CFSG’s ass.
*I’ve been notified by the Americian Pustule Society than they do not wish to be associated with a number of GQP assholes.
I hope that someone at the DOJ is seeing these attempts at obstruction. If that shit isn’t against the law, it should be. Republicans. Assholes. All.
(Remember the Republican outrage over Trump’s interest in the phone records of journalists? Me either.)
The way the DOJ is operating with regards to Republicans these days, unless there’s an actual law on the books that says “it shall be illegal for Mo Brooks, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, Andy Biggs, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Jody Hice, Jim Bank and Madison Cawthorne to send letters to the executives of telecommunications companies in an attempt to coerce them into not complying with a legal subpoena …. No, they won’t.
And even if that law existed, they’d hold that the behavior in question was perfectly legal because Mayer happened to not be a telecom executive when the letter was sent.
I’m tired of this FBI and DOJ bullshit about how they can’t prosecute because no ones ever broken the law in this exact way before.
For example, political coercion, threatening a government employee to get them to engage in political activity, is crime. One that Donald Trump clearly broke many times between Nov 3rd 2020 and January 20th 2021. Which everyone sees but the FBI, because Christopher Wray is corrupt. He made the devils bargain …….as long as he covers up every crime committed by Trump and his cronies, he won’t get fired for not maliciously prosecuting Trump’s enemies, and has no intention of breaking it. He should be fired.
This is something about “the law” that has always puzzled me. If you are a POC selling loose cigarettes on a street corner you are breaking the law and a boy in blue is going to jump on your back and put you in a choke hold, etc. etc. Whereas if you are an elected official breaking the law, well that’s a completely different story! Not the same at all! I mean, there are laws, and then there are laws.
I personally believe it would be much more equitable (and entertaining) seeing congressmen pulled out of their beds and chased down by cops.
I believe I read this quote right here on the SDMB:
" There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect…"
IANAL but I’ve watched a bunch on TV. Sounds like conspiracy to obstruct justice to me. Round 'em up.
Threatening retribution should they be returned to power is not a good look. At least not to people who support democracy and the rule of law.
Which of course makes it the perfect look for their brainwashed supporters.
The Qanon Shaman’s lawyer’s new defense:
He was apparently so fond of former President Donald Trump , it was “not unlike the first love a man may have for a girl.”
I advise Jacob Chansley to just take his lumps and move on. In whatever fashion that allows him.
Now, THAT’S not a good look.
