NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

A Republican candidate for school board in Iowa wants to let parents know when kids check out LGBTQ+ books, and hold a trial before the school board for the person who ordered the book.

Was Sliwa’s cat registered to vote? If so, in whose name? Election fraud!

On trial for what? I’m sure the smug-looking bastard can cite the statutes broken.

(I used the “share” option, so this might not be paywalled.)

All around you are swirling scenes of violence—explosions in Baghdad, ISIS operatives slitting the throat of an infidel, the chaos around the U.S. Capitol on January 6. You see jarring images of blood and brutality; you hear the grating sound of screaming; you feel the rush of fear and rage.

But then a calm, sympathetic man steps forward, dressed in a button-down shirt. He explains all of it. He connects the disconnected images; he makes sense of the disturbing noises; he puts everything you have just witnessed into a single narrative. These stories are confusing, he says, because they have been staged or manipulated. None of them has ever been what they seem. Underlying them, however, is a deeper truth: Good people, honest people, true Americans, patriots, people just like you, are being cheated. Sinister forces inside the American government arranged all of this bad imagery in order to oppress you, to remove you, to eliminate you. Finally, it all makes sense.

This, in essence, is the plot and structure of Patriot Purge , a documentary produced by Tucker Carlson and Scooter Downey. The first of three parts is now airing on the streaming service Fox Nation—

To comprehend the full scope of the conspiracy, viewers will have to watch all three episodes. But even in the first episode, the goals of this project are already clear. The point is to describe the events of January 6 as a false-flag operation cooked up inside the deepest layers of the American deep state—and thus to cast doubt on everything that will come out of Congress’s January 6 hearings, everything revealed by every Washington Post or network-television investigation, everything turned up by the FBI. For Fox viewers, this will come as an enormous relief. If all the disturbing facts can be ignored, then no lessons need be learned. Republicans in Congress and the Trump White House need never be blamed for their assault on the Constitution. The people who supported them need never question that support.

This is not showing on the mainstream (hehe) Fox network, but on their paid streaming service, Fox Nation. Too far out even for Fox??

In the relatively short time I’ve been a member on the SDMB, I’ve crafted exactly two rules for myself:

  • Don’t post anything before you’ve had coffee, and
  • Never – and I mean fucking never– get on @Ann_Hedonia 's bad side.

Cheers !

Republicans support theft, then?

It gets dumber than that - after John-John no-showed their rally, they’ve now decided he’s going to open for the Rolling Stones tonight, and he’s bringing Robin Williams and Dale Earnhardt Sr. with him.

Whaaaaaaaaat?
They’re totally trolling, right? They don’t really believe this, right??

There was a time when I would have said no, they couldn’t possibly believe stuff like that… but these days…

I mean, Democratic child abducting Satanists for the global elite, OK, plausible. But this? The Stones need help selling tickets? I don’t think so.
(You pushed it too far, Q! We’re on to you now!)

These classless motherfuckers. If they had even a scintilla of a clue, they’d use their conjuring powers to bring back Charlie Watts.

I know it’s not the main issue, but I don’t think Robin at least cared for Trump. Mr. Earnhardt, I don’t know about. So why them?

You see, it’s all because something something Deep State something Crooked Hillary something something something oh dear I’ve gone crosseyed.

Hey, if just being in the same room with Keith Richards isn’t enough to keep Charlie alive, no black magic is going to be effective at this point.

All good - you’ve done most of the heavy lifting - Hillary ended up in the '69 Altamont getaway helicopter, with plans to show up at the Stones gig with some Hells Angels.

Keith would make a a pretty good hospice nurse, tho.
After his smoke break.

Had to do a double-take to make sure buddy didn’t have eye-liner on. Not a big fan of that hat, but now it’s ruined like Bill Barr ruining his style of glass frames.

What about the pizza??? Why is no one mentioning the pizza?

They got lost looking for the basement.

So… let me get this straight.

There were a bunch of racist Trump supporters who gathered in Dealy Plaza. And they thought that a resurrected Irish Catholic Democrat was going to lead them to holy war against their mortal enemy, an Irish Catholic Democrat? But he was going to be resurrected where his father was shot, and not where his plane went down (because that would be inconvenient)?

There you go using logic again.
