And he brings his background trees and buildings with him, I see.
Upon reflection, there is a tremendous risk to what Flynn advocates. Establishment of a state religion leaves whatsoever that religion might be, along with all other deprecated religions, exposed to regulation. A decent-type national leadership would be at liberty to imprison high-profile religious leaders for fraud or inciteful messages. I mean, if that is what it would take to wipe out televangelism and religious grift, I might give the notion some fair consideration.
“You’re the Pope of Antifa!”
Yep, these guys just don’t get it: Separation of Church and State protects the churches, just as much as it protects the state. If the government is purely secular in how it creates and applies laws, then I don’t care a whit what nonsense you pretend to believe every Sunday. But if your religion is suddenly the only proper basis for the law, then I care very much what it is you’re spouting. If protecting me from religious extremists means I have to assist in taking over control of your church, then that’s what I’ll do.
It is indeed!
Emerald Robinson is apparently out at Newsmax after repeating her anti-vax Satanic conspiracy theories.
Alex Jones found guilty by default in all four Sandy Hook lawsuits, after he refused to turn over documents ordered by the judge.
Good. I hope they take him for every penny he’s got that isn’t committed to his ex-wife and supporting his children.
No doubt there’s a place for her in a trump cabinet of the future…I’m guessing Health & Human Demonic Services.
Hell yeah.
I remember a couple of decades ago, when I was still attending church (even though I believed less and less with each passing month) at the fundamentalist “Church of Christ”, some people were talking in Sunday School about Christians and the church gaining control over government, and how wonderful that would be. I mentioned that it would be far better for us if the government remained secular. I was asked why – and I replied that, even in a “Church of Christ” stronghold like Nashville (that’s where I live), the Baptists outnumber us by a fair margin. There was simply no way that our tiny little group could hold sway over the teeming numbers of Baptists and Catholics. That response brought cold silence.
Yeah, separation of church and state is a good thing, and members of small religious groups should be careful what they wish for.
Is “found guilty” the correct wording? I thought that that was only a verdict applied to criminal trials. Jones is not going to prison because of this story, and (sadly) he will not be identified as a felon, losing certain rights. The sites that are using that phrasing need to knock that shit off. He was found liable, not guilty.
Yeah, damn I was wondering how much time he might get! Darn it.
He was found liable for damages in the lawsuits filed against him. A jury will be convened to determine how much he will owe the plaintiffs.
He will probably never pay them a dime, however.
I’m puzzled by why that would be possible. Isn’t seizure of assets or at the least garnishment of earnings a thing that would apply?
He’ll tie up the process with endless rounds of appeals. And then he’ll die.
My understanding of appeals of damage awards is that the party has to place the amount of the award in a sort of “escrow” account until they have either definitively won or lost. That could be an overstatement of the rules, of course.
IANAL, and you very well may be correct. But he will attempt to drag it out as long as humanly possible.
Yeah, I’m not a lawyer either, nor even a college graduate. And this “rule,” such as it is, may vary from state to state. It would seem prudent for the court to freeze his assets, though.
This just in; John Fitzgerald Kennedy Junior is still dead.
