NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

Congresswoman Nancy Mace on Fox says that people shouldn’t worry about getting vaccinated when natural immunity will take care of it all. Then goes on CNN and says people should get vaccinated.

Maybe she’s twins like the Olsens. Or a Jeckyll/Hyde situation.

She reminds me of a friend I had in high school. He would say “this” to that person, “that” to another person and on and on. Whatever would please the person he was speaking to. It never made any sense to me.

For some reason, it won’t generate a preview.

“The same people that built the Capitol in Washington built the pyramids in Egypt,” Skaar says.

If there are “undecideds” in 2021 and the handling of the corona pandemic is a key issue, does it not make more sense to clearly mark your turf?
Now you convince exactly 0 Q/anti-vax/fundie to vote D AND 0 (normally non-voting) people who want a sane approach. >> lose/lose
AND you cannot look in the mirror.>> lose/lose/lose

Bad at politics && bad at “human”

Governor Kelly has been thwarted at every turn by the GOP legislature in her handling of the pandemic.

She won the 2018 election over Kris Kobach by convincing a fair number of Republicans to vote for her. This is a step in an attempt to regain a portion of those voters.

It’s actually a good political move that will not cost her any votes, as every Democrat in the state knows exactly why she’s doing it. And Governor Kelly is a fine human being.

How did she convince any “normally” voting republican people to vote for her?

By being sane? Representing certain values?

Or pandering to the lowest denominator?

Because she was running against a right-wing loon. And her 2022 opponent is also of that ilk, although not quite as crazy as Kobach.

Look, she cannot afford to lose any of those Republicans who voted for her in 2018. Which is why I think this is a good political move, even though it’s a bad societal move.

And the chances are much better than 50/50 that had she vetoed the bill, it would be overridden by the legislature. So the bill was going to become law, no matter what Kelly did.

Think what you will of Governor Kelly, but this was the best move she could have made regarding this POS bill.

Boebert and Omar spoke on the phone today. It ended with Omar asking for a public apology for Boebert’s anti-Islamic comments and Boebert asking for an apology from Omar for her alleged anti-Semitism.

So she is appealing to the people (R) that would vote for her to keep out a RW loon by acting exactly like a RW loon would?
That is the dumbest shit ever.

She’ll get more R votes by signing the bill than by vetoing it. You might think that’s a dumb shit move. I don’t.

All the usual right wing assholes are pushing a false story that Nancy Pelosi has, is about to, or might possibly some day, buy a $25 million house in Florida.

Well if you are talking about classes of people then he’s correct. Both the Pyramids and the Capitol were built by slaves, but it doesn’t sound like that is the point he’s trying to make.

ETA: It turns out the Pyramids weren’t built by slaves, so yet another of my witty retorts gets demolished by pesky facts.

The Pentagon has told the Governor of Oklahoma that despite his order to the contrary, all Oklahoma National Guard members must be vaccinated The Governor says he won’t issue that order and he’s the commander in chief of the state Guard, so he’s in charge.

Dr. Oz is running for Senate in Pennsylvania.

He thinks the Republicans will elect a Muslim called Mehmet?

I mean, they elected a Sikh named Nimrata Randhawa twice. Maybe he can convince them his first name is “Doctor”.

So like her, he should change his name and convert to Christianity?

I’ll take your word for it. If her action polls as you describe then it is perfectly rational and the correct course of action.

But you have to marvel at the thought processes (in the voters minds) involved.

I mean, if the Democratic governor of my state signed a bad bill sent to them by a Republican legislature that would have survived a veto anyway, I certainly wouldn’t respond by voting Republican.
