NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

So, it’s Nazi-derived, too. Gotcha.

Not entirely. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure it also has a lot of BAR in its ancestry, too.

But yeah, the Nazis made some good guns.

As did John Browning.

We should probably drop this hijack.

Fox claiming burning their tree is the same as Pearl Harbor.

I’d say it’s more like a Gulf of Tonkin, or maybe a Reichstag.

A sneak attack by the Japanese?

I think it’s more like when I stubbed my toe this morning.

I’ve enjoyed the reaction to Ben Shapiro’s sister trying to shame Madonna as trashy by comparing Nancy Reagan at the same age as an example of classic living. It backfired as all the old gossip and stories about Nancy’s days in Hollywood have resurfaced. I have no problem with how she engaged as an actress but I suppose the point is this idea that she is an icon of wholesomeness is just like the entire narrative conservatives peddle about family values - it’s a myth. If it was really a virtue for them why did they hate the Obama’s so much who by any logical metric are a great example of family values? I always felt Obama or people on his behalf should have leaned into that hypocrisy of the right more during his presidency. He was probably too classy to go there.

The Daily Show has a good 1 minute 17 second compilation of Fox News hosts posturing as History’s Most Victimized Victims and Nobly-Determined Victims Pledging To Carry On in the Face of Cruel Victimization (due to a homeless guy lighting their tree on fire):

You know the answer to this!

The homeless man was obviously a democrat, or, as my maganut acquaintance would say, communist. :christmas_tree::fire_engine:

I wouldn’t mind enjoying that myself. Can you point me to where I might partake, please?

I know! I know! :raising_hand_woman:

Because they were both too TALL!

If you’ve got problems with the origins of Israel’s machine guns, never look into the origins of the US space program…

She’s been trending all day along with Throat Goat. Lot of funny reactions here: https://twitter.com/search?q=nancy%20reagan&src=typed_query

Should be noted this is not new news. The story was written in a book a few years after Ronald Reagan’s presidency ended so it’s been out there for 30 years. And Peter Lawford spoke about it too. Old Hollywood gossip is quite messy but often came straight from the players involved. They were much more open about telling all about fellow stars.

The point is that Nancy was famous and popular because of who she was married to, which is how it should be, not famous on her own for being both a creative and marketing force of nature for decades.

Perhaps he was just a Swedish tourist who assumed the tree was our equivalent of the Gävlebocken.

Or revenge.

In 2001, the goat was burned down by a 51-year-old visitor from Cleveland, Ohio in the United States, who spent 18 days in jail and was subsequently convicted and ordered to pay 100,000 Swedish kronor in damages. The court confiscated his cigarette lighter with the argument that he clearly was not able to handle it. He stated in court that he was no “goat burner”, and believed that he was taking part in a completely legal goat-burning tradition. After he was released from jail he returned to the US without paying his fine.

“I’m no goat-burner, I was just burning goats!”

Yeah, that sounds like the Republicans these days.
