NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

Sorry, still figuring out the quote function.

I’m not in Biggs’ district but when I looked at a map of Arizona’s congressional districts I saw the border was awfully close. Zooming in I discovered it was a quarter-mile east of my address. :grimacing:

I’m not looking forward to redistricting.

Yesterday, a guy on the radio pointed out that new COVID cases the day before in Arizona (pop. 7-million) exceeded new cases in the entire EU (pop. 446-million).

Yeah, the people who have been right just make the rest of us look bad! Don’t need any more of that! And BTW stop testing and FFS stop reporting the number of cases-- that really makes us dumbshits look bad.

[/sarcasm, irony, in case anyone has any doubts]

Kansas newspaper’s post equates mask mandate with Holocaust

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I guess Godwin’s Law applies in the print journalism world too.

…The Ector County vote came two days after Abbott took one of his most sweeping executive actions yet, requiring Texans in most public places to wear masks. For months, Abbott has used his executive authority aggressively to respond to the pandemic, forcing hospitals to suspend elective surgeries, ordering Texans to stay at home in April except for essential activities, and shutting down certain businesses — and then reopening them before COVID-19 cases surged. Texas is now one of the nation’s epicenters for the virus.

Perry wrote Saturday on Facebook that he is “deeply concerned about the unilateral power being used with no end in sight.”

“This is why I urge Governor Abbott to convene a special session to allow the legislature to pass legislation and hold hearings regarding the COVID-19 response,” Perry said. “It should not be the sole responsibility of one person to manage all of the issues related to a disaster that has no end in sight.”

My bold.

Right. Let’s delay action on this. The building is on fire, but we need to convene the legislature and vote on whether to douse it with water. In fact, let’s hold hearings on whether to douse it with water. Maybe they should just amend the Texas Constitution. After all, it only has 507 amendments so far.

Didn’t Abbott also forbid TX municipalities to require masks in public? Quite a turnaround. But I bet Ector County didn’t think that was an overreach.

“…Welch also defended herself by saying she had meant to make the comment in a private message, which additionally undercuts her meaningless excuse that she didn’t intend for her post to seem racist.”

Well, see, a private message. Makes it all better. Excuse me for being found out.

From the message contents; she seems to note a difference between Mississippians and Black Mississippians. Hmmmm.

Florida congressional candidate KM Miller says, via Twitter, that Beyonce is actually an Italian woman pretending to be black, that her lyrics contain coded messages about her attending a Satanic church in Alabama, and that she and Patti Labelle are part of a Soros-backed plan to make Obama president for life.

I bet everyone in her friends list is shitting themselves and praying that nobody ever finds out that she intended it as a private message for them…

Just for fun I pretended to hear that in Jason Mensoza’s (the Good Place) voice.

The meanness didn’t feel resonant, but the disconnect from reality sure did.

Y’all should scroll down and see the other things he’s been saying…

He be cray cray yo. Cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Taitched in the head. That man ain’t right.

Yet it was the current occupant of the White House who said he’d take a look at being dictator for life.

“The globalists”, huh? Gee, I wonder what group he might be referring to there.

I really can’t wait until the republican party gets its comeuppance.

Florida Man, Florida Man…

Why, the New York Globalists hockey team, of course.

Jon McNaughton suggesting a new addition to Mt. Rushmore.

For those that can’t tolerate ipecac, this will induce vomiting just as well.

In fairness, he’s an “Independent” candidate, not a Republican (guess he’s too wacko even for them…) and the District (Florida’s 18th) has been a bit of a battleground as both Republicans and Democrats have held the seat recently, so I suspect both parties will have money and time invested here. Guess the poor guy had to do something to be noticed…

ETA: Just read a little of his campaign bio–his influential book is “Atlas Shrugged” by Any Rand. Draw your conclusions as you will.
Press on.

Heh. If the Democratic Party is smart, they slip the guy a little on the side to keep him in the race. I mean, you have to think that every vote for him is a vote that didn’t go to the GOP candidate, right?
