Voter registration records are public records and subject to FoI requests. This is nothing new.
True. Some years ago there was a local proposition in California to increase the funding for the county community colleges. A week before the election all the registered Libertarians in the district got a post card, “Hi! I’m [name] and a senior at [one of the CCs]. Although I’ve been registered Libertarian all my life I think Proposition [N] is needed because [reasons].”
I looked up his record and he registered as a Democrat three days after his eighteenth birthday. I wrote him inquiring about the discrepancy but he never answered.

That all presumes the intent is to present a sound legal case. Which it isn’t - the point is to keep slanderous allegations in the public eye for as long as possible up to Election Day. It’s no coincidence this arose just as the Obamagate “unmasking” case quietly died. There don’t even need to be kiddy porn pictures - there just needs to be the accusation of them, and the rabid base will seize upon the story without question.

Various parts of your voter information are public records, how much depends on your state. In Florida, the voter reg. form pretty much says all of your info is public ( Voter Registration Form ) including your phone and email (if you include it) and your party affiliation (because it’s a closed primary state).
Other states have different rules over what can be requested by the public and what can’t.
I know that in Ohio, it also tells your voting record.
That is, in which elections and primaries you have voted, not how you voted.
To do it right, the file creation dates (when they were first written to the drive) have to be modified to make it look like the alleged owner downloaded them before bringing the device in for repair, and the framer must also insure that the modication dates for the files are consistent (once downloaded, I would expect that a user almost never modifies a file of that sort). This is not impossible, but it is not a simple task and can easily be overlooked.
There did seem to be a small problem with some paperwork. I saw an image that indicated that a specific HD had a warranty expiration date that indicated it had been sold after the device had been dropped off. Additionally, this was identified as an external HD: if the macbook is water damaged, why would the owner bring in an external drive that apparently was not?
