In the article, it said that it was library people who were surprised that the millage was voted down. The folks voting against it are saying that the library will give in and then they’d be willing to vote for it. Whether the library will actually close hasn’t been determined.

I just saw a political ad from pharma-dot-org. According to Big Pharma, if the Democrats pass legislation to allow price negotiations and controls, there won’t be any medicine and people die horribly in searing pain.
As a citizen of a nation with price controls on pharmaceuticals, I can assure you that there is no medicine to be found anywhere.

Oh, sure, I know that’s what he meant. By the same token, at the start of last year, I gave all my students a questionnaire where one of the questions was “What are your pronouns?”, and one of my students answered “Man”. Clearly he understood the essence of the question, and his response made his answer clear (and he didn’t have any problems with those students who answered “they/them”).
