NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

Man, it must be nice having the brand name Schrodinger’s President! Up here in Canada we’re stuck with the low-rent knock off Schrodinger’s Prime Minister, who is either a disaster or a tyrant.

…and that’s the closest to a sensible take we’ve seen from any Republican yet.

Think about it.

ETA: Oh my fucking god, did they bury the lede on that story:

“I’m tired of hearing about ‘we need to change our military to where they’re woke,’” Tuberville said. "To where they need to listen to the federal government

Holy fucking hell, he thinks the military shouldn’t have to listen to the federal fucking government?!?

OK, you might be right that I’m misremembering this. I do recall thinking some comments may have crossed that line, but my memory may have been influenced by GOP accusations which I have no doubt were exaggerated. (I may also be thinking of things I heard from friends and acquaintances.)

But even if no Democrat ever said anything like this, it’s a fact that Republicans were quite public about it being a bad thing (even if fictional). Now they’re openingly doing it themselves. Wow, total hypocrites, whoda thunk?

So true. It’s nice that our poster Rickjay has finally toned down his Tucker Carlson impersonation about how TRUDEAU. IS. A. TYRANT.

I guess he’s getting ready to return to our regularly scheduled program of TRUDEAU. IS. A. WIMP.

Yes, we are shocked, SHOCKED that there is gambling going on at Rick’s

Well, Trudeau’s goons only arrested about 170 people over the course of two days, Putin’s goons arrested 1700 people in a few hours! Wimpy-assed tyrant!

ETA: We’ll have to find a unit of measure for this. Trudeau is 0.5 deciPutins.

Now I have a mental image of a MAGAtroid being repeatedly thwacked on the head and alternating between “BIDEN IS A TYRANT!” (thwack!) “BIDEN IS A WIMP!” (thwack!), like Professor McElroy / King Tut on the Adam West “Batman” show.

Or Faye Dunaway in Chinatown.

Well, Democrats did criticize Bush, and they did criticize the decision to invade Iraq, and the Republicans did call that rooting for Bush to fail.

When I asked what Iraq had to do with 9/11, I was called a terrorist sympathizer.

Only anyone who has paid attention to them over the last decade or so.

Republicans only see hypocrisy as a weapon with which to accuse others, not something that they should avoid themselves.

As in, Joe Biden the observant Catholic who goes to weekly and holy day Mass regularly? You (i.e., you Lauren Witzke) think Vladimir Putin is more “Christian” than Biden?

Oh right, but Putin’s the one trying to weaponize Christian institutions in the service of international theocratic authoritarianism. Yeah, I guess you would prefer that to Biden’s SOCAS-respecting version of personal Christian faith and practice.

Since Biden is Catholic, she’d likely say “yes”.

But from an American Protestant point of view, how are Russian Orthodox any more “Christian” than Roman Catholics? Why, those people even have a whole different Easter!! :scream:

Personally, I think it’ll be very interesting and significant to see how this whole “international theocratic authoritarianism” movement shakes out as reflected in evangelical conservatives’ attitudes toward Catholics. When they start trying to explain how the reactionary “trad Caths” count as “Christians” but all the mainstream Catholics who belong to exactly the same church do not… yeah, uh-huh.

Laura Ingraham calls the Ukrainian President pathetic.

The stupid in that clip hurts! Trump sounds like the drunk old dumbass as the end of the bar. “What, we are sending in an amphibious attack team? Why are we talking about it? SHHH…don’t let them know. Can I get another Keystone Light?” hic

In other words they are hypocritical with respect to their use of hypocrisy. How very meta.

The drunk old dumbass at the end of the bar at least will be sober in the morning.

Fucker Carlson: “Ukraine isn’t a democracy. It’s a State Department client state.”

But not even close to sane.

Dan

I must admit that in all these years, I’d never figured out that Roman Polanski and writer Robert Towne, in 1974, swiped that ‘sister/daughter’ scene directly from late-60’s episodes of Batman.

But: yeah.
