It would appear that there is no depth of depravity, or crimminl activity that the GOP (in general) will probe.
Just in the last 41 minutes, 3 new big stories. Slow down Republicans! There is plenty of time for your stupid antics.
The California state Bar has charged John Eastman with multiple counts of “allegations that Eastman engaged in a course of conduct to plan, promote, and assist then-President Trump in executing a strategy, unsupported by facts or law, to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by obstructing the count of electoral votes of certain states”
Consider this a public round of applause for Rick Kitchen and his contributions to this thread. “Pip-Pip!” Or whatever you say.
Indeed, what what!
This thread is Rick_Kitchen!
How can he stand it?
Congressman Cory Mills is handing out dummy hand grenades with the GOP logo on them to his colleagues.
So, what he meant was, “Jews: Ish.”
Are they supposed to fall on them to prove their loyalty?
Surprise!!! They’re not dummies! (the grenades, not the Congressthings)
Another vote of support for @Rick_Kitchen for his absolute rottweiler talents in keeping this Aussie up to date with all the dishevelment that is the Republican Party in the US. Bravo Rick!
Ted Cruz has introduced a bill that would require the Capitol building to only have vending machines that accept Bitcoin.
Would you have to have exact change, or would it return Monopoly money and chocolate coins?
What the hell? I barely know what cryptocurrency is let alone have any. What could be motivating this, I’m sure he’s got his hand in some cookie jar.
What I’m wondering is if prices need to be posted in both US $ and Bitcoin (I’m not going to read the resolution, I’m assuming bitcoin/crypto is a “and” not an only). A quick Google says my $1.25 candy bar is 0.000044 btc (currently).
Plus of course, which crypto and do the machines have an internet connection so that the somehow posted price reflects the current market value, which I’d think the FTC would insist on (that’s a joke, son).
I don’t read these thing that often, so maybe this is normal, but at the end it said that they don’t have to use vendors that accept bitcoin if “entering into such contracts would preclude the selection of alternatives that are cost-effective and value-centered for patrons.”
Is that a common thing to add into a bill like this? I could see it being used as a way to allow the bill to keep moving forward since they don’t have to be as worried about being backed into a corner. For example, they don’t have to worry that if goes through and the only vendors that accept bitcoin also happen to cost twice as much as the others.
Also, it looks like exactly a year prior to this bill being introduced, Ted Cruz bought somewhere between 15k and 50k in bitcoin.
When I read that, my initial thought was they’d have to show not only how much it would be in USD, but it would also have to include any fees. So if a candy bar is .000044btc, that might work out to $2.75 with whatever fees are tacked on to it. And then I wondered if that’s the angle, maybe Ted has already started working out a deal with CoinFlip or RockitCoin or CoinBase. If you’ve been on the fence about buying BTC and saw a RockitCoin machine next to the soda machine in the background while someone is being interviewed, maybe you’ll feel more comfortable using that machine you always see in the back corner of the gas station.
“It’s unclear how many grenades Mills gifted to his colleagues.”
ETA, didn’t realize this was already posted.
