NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

To no one’s surprise, Trump’s personal social media site is tanking.

Even HE doesn’t use it. and I thought one of the points was that this would be a site that wouldn’t ban him. (Although, according to this article, the way Trump messages would be breaking the rules of the site, making him ripe for banning, if he didn’t already own the site).

Clearly the Republican long knives are out for Cawthorn in a way that they haven’t been for Boebert, MTG, Gaetz, etc. The lesson being that you can let fly with whatever batshit crazy, Q-related accusations you want – as long as they’re only aimed at Democrats.

Also related, and also stupid, the FBI are investigating threats made against the judge and a couple of defense counsel in the case.

I retract “stupid”. Maybe it should go in the Evil thread.

I am so tempted to make a yard sign that says “Support Congressional cocaine orgies! Vote Cawthorne!”

I do wonder if it is similar to the corrupt cop trope, where your fellow cops don’t trust you unless you take the bribe.

Ah, the Bart Simpson defense: “I didn’t do it nobody saw me do it you can’t prove a thing.”

You’re not the only one with that idea. Here’s his fellow (Democratic) Congressman, Ted Lieu, on Twitter:

But the other lesson that should be learned, by the Republicans, is that this is what you get when you promote the batshit crazy people.

People who are batshit crazy are not often noted for their ability to stop being batshit crazy just because they’re now being crazy about people on their own side.

Let us not forget that Rep. Cawthorn sustained his paralyzing injury while returning from Spring Break in Daytona Beach in his buddy’s BMW.

I’m just saying, I think he’s been at least in the vicinity of a key bump or two.

Without a doubt. Kind of blows a hole in his babe in woods act.

Maybe Cawthorne is just bitter, resentful, and angry at the world after what’s happened to him. I’m sure I would be.

Or maybe he’s just a spoiled little brat who would have been a toad even without the paralyzing wreck.

All apologies to toads, of course. They actually serve a purpose in this world.

That too. As mentioned earlier somewhere, some of his college-days classmates (some, or all, female presumably), (and pre-accident?) have commented on what an obnoxious jerk he was.

Lauren Boebert:
We require people to be 21 to purchase alcohol beverages, and 21 to purchase tobacco products.

Why is it so unreasonable to require people to reach a certain level of maturity before making life-altering decisions about their sexuality and identity?

First I’ve ever heard of him and saw what he looked like, my first reaction ( other than his revolting politics ) was that he was, appearance wise, the absolute embodiment of the typical smug, brash, frat-boy douchebag.

So she supports access to birth control and safe, legal abortion, right?

…right?

he has, in common with Shkreli, the archetypal backpfeifengesicht

Robert D. Kaplan, writing in Bloomberg:
“Biden is wrong: People in developing nations want stability, efficient government and personal freedoms more than the right to vote every few years.”

Because people often realize they’re gay, or trans, long before 21. And if they’re trans, and haven’t taken hormone blockers, it’s too late to prevent massive body dysmorphia.

Hey, open fascism for the GOP win, right???

Let’s go AUTOCRATS! Let’s go AUTOCRATS!! Rah rah rah AUTHORITARIANISM!!!

More seriously: Kaplan’s argument is based on bizarre takes such as his admiration for Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed bin Salman. Many (including me) will find his fan-boy take on MBS to be unattractive and unconvincing.

Sample of Kaplan’s ‘huzzah for happy dictatorships’ thinking:

Yuh-huh. So why don’t you move to a dictatorship, Bob-old-boy???

(Obvious answer: because he has high hopes of the USA becoming one within just a few years.)
