NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

Have any of our fine commentators been arrested? Didn’t Mike ‘don’t call me crazy’ Lindell say he was going to indict and arrest 300 million of us? I haven’t seen the the warrants or seen the mass incarceration at FEMA camps. Cite below and many more including in this thread.

There is a bill before the Oklahoma state legislature that would require women seeking abortions to register in a state data base that the abortion provider must check to see if she has registered.

This might actually be true. Did you ever read the Penthouse Forum? There was a metric fuckton of creativity, imagination, and fiction produced for that publication.

While I’m not exactly enthralled with this ad, I feel compelled to point out that 1) Jim Lamon is competing in the Republican primary, not directly against Kelly for the moment; 2) Giffords was shot during a constituent service gathering, not a campaign rally; and 3) Lamon is not depicted as shooting anyone; rather, in accordance with the famous Western “good guy” trope, he shoots the guns out of the hands of “Kelly”, “Biden” and “Pelosi” (after they draw down on him, in accordance with the famous Western “bad guy” trope, natch).

In any case, since I’d guess this ad was intended to rile up the libs more than anything, I’d have to say it was mission accomplished. All in all, done in worse taste than Trump Tower’s interior decorating.

My understanding is that Penthouse Forum was actually a charity or possibly a make-work program for impoverished writers.

I used to think that too, but then the following happened to me…

No, no, no.

If you want to qualify for the benefits, you have to start out with

“Dear Penthouse Forum: I never thought it would happen to me…”

Don’t people read the entry guidelines anymore?

There were certainly some creative writers in there. I still remember the tasty chicken stuffing letter lo these 40 years later. (It’s as gross as you can imagine, but so cleverly written.)

I think you have the original guidelines. The revised guidelines of September 1972 loosened the rules of entry.

An extensive review of the, er, literature after that date does show a number of stories which begin with doubting Penthouse, but

Ala this entry from the July 18th, 1978 edition:

"Dear Penthouse letters.

Until last Saturday night I used to think all these stories were made up. But then…"

What used to sound exciting back then now just sounds utterly exhausting.

Sigh.

Being relatively recently-divorced, no, it still sounds exciting! :smirk:

Way back when BBSes were used before the Internet, I was showing a friend how to download porn. You had to email the sysop and assure them you were of legal age, etc. My friend Pat wrote a Penthouse Forum type email on the spot. I was so proud.

I knew they were made up, but still saw them as aspirational. Surely once I get to college there will be nights like this, right? Surely once I have a job and can legally go to bars these things will happen, right?

In reality, they actually did, once or twice.

So, about those stupid Republicans …

I never figured they were all made up. Some were just to badly written, unimaginative, or boring that they had to be legit. And a few were true, for the most part, but shall we say… enhanced. But yea, many many were fake.

OTOH:

I never used to believe Republicans were such ignorant Nazis, until one day…

You would think that delivering pizzas would be a sure fire way.

Dear Penthouse Forums, you never would believe how hard I fucked my country…

I did that for a few years. Never had myself a Forum-worthy story, but there were a few times when I got there earlier than a couple expected and had the door answered by folks in their undies still breathing hard.

I hate it when they double book.

Got some great “keep the change” tips, though.

Fox’s Brian Kilmeade says kids should sue their parents for making them wear masks.

Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace, who got on Individual 1’s bad side so much that he endorsed her primary opponent, decided to show just how brave and upright she is by traveling from her home state of South Carolina to New York City, so she could stand outside Trump Tower and post videos of her with the Trump Tower name in the background talking about how she was one of the first to endorse him.
