NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

The publishers are already putting out Florida-specific editions, presumably with Florida-specific math (where the usual rules of the universe don’t always apply). From the same article:

Wasn’t there a cartoon in The Realist depicting just that?

I assume Florida Math is the kind where 74,000,000 > 81,000,000.

To be more mathematically precise,

It’s a shame Harlan Ellison isn’t alive to hear this.

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (Q-AZ) claims over a billion undocumented immigrants have crossed the border this year.

that is that-there Florida Math

Well, to be fair the mnemonic I learned in the navy for basic trig functions was
Sally
Can
Tell
Oscar Has
A Hard-
On Always
for
sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse
cos = Adjacent/Hypotenuse
tan = Opposite/Adjacent

Of course, you’d figure that would be right in the Pub wheelhouse.

I wouldn’t trust her ability to count to ten if she couldn’t see both of her hands at the same time.

Even overlooking the sexism, that’s a terrible mnemonic. It’s “sine cosine tangent opposite hypotenuse…” Not exactly an intuitive way to arrange the terms.

Try “sex on holiday can always help teachers overcome anxiety.”

Yes, it’s sexist but this was fifty years ago when gurls didn’t do electroniking. They were just getting around to changing “Rape” to “Race” and “But Violet Gives Willingly” to “Behind Victory Garden Walls.”

And maybe yours is better for you but I had no trouble remembering it and what the functions are.

Next on the chopping block: Muslim numbers!

He didn’t do fuck-all with them; he actively worked to block them. While also pushing Regeneron for those who ended up catching COVID, to the benefit of his biggest donor.

Grooming!

The new proposal would create 20 seats that favor Republicans and just eight that tilt toward Democrats, meaning that the G.O.P. would be likely to hold 71 percent of the seats. Former President Donald J. Trump carried Florida in 2020 with 51.2 percent of the vote.

The Florida map would erase some of the gains Democrats have made in this year’s national redistricting process. The 2022 map had been poised to be balanced between the two major parties for the first time in generations, with a nearly equal number of House districts that are expected to lean Democratic and Republican for the first time in more than 50 years.

The map would also serve as a high-profile, if possibly temporary, victory for Mr. DeSantis, who has emerged as one of the Republican Party’s leading figures and has not ruled out challenging Mr. Trump for the party’s 2024 presidential nomination. The Florida House is expected to pass the map on Thursday, and Mr. DeSantis is certain to sign it.

The upside: soon, Texas may NOT be the worst place to live in the country. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The Tennessee Republican state executive committee has removed three Republican candidates because they don’t follow the state party’s rules. including not having lived in the state for a fixed period of time. One of them was endorsed by Individual 1,

I’m confused. If 1,000,000,000 were apprehended, doesn’t that mean they didn’t make it in? That sounds to me like the exact opposite of “open door”.

Just like all those drug shipments invading our country that were confiscated at the border.

You’d think that a seventh of the world’s population all in Mexico at the same time would be a bigger catastrophe. Aside from the hundreds of thousands of dead bodies piling up, and the lack of food and water, the fact of Mexico tipping over under the weight of all those people would have made the news.

Well, then she’s still off. 7 billion people didn’t make it in. :smiley:

It’s a good thing they aren’t looking at physics texts. There they’be confronted with
