After all, pretty much everyone who works at Disney is a practicing thespian.
Some of them are even advisors to school clubs involving philately!

Wasn’t there a pediatrician who had to move because too many idiots in her area were convinced pediatrician means pedophile?
Rather like Nixon is no longer the most despised President in living memory,
From August 29, 2000:
Isn’t “self-styled vigilantes” a redundancy?
Not necessarily. Self-appointed vigilantes would be a redundancy. Self-styled vigilantes is people who call themselves vigilantes, when what they actually are is a mob of terrorists.
Since this is the Pit, I would like to say fuck Chaya Raichik sideways with a cholla. Poor sad attention seeker got upset when she got too much attention.
I learned the very cringey legend of the Native American princess Sohcahtoa circa 1995.
Sadly this is the only mnemonic I remember from middle school.
And my contribution to the thread:
I think saying the song has a “fundamental message” is giving it a bit too much credit. It’s highly generic - what “it” is is never specified, other than a general sense of being angry at getting bossed around. It’s about as coherent a political message as yelling “You’re not my real dad!” and slamming your bedroom door. I can absolutely see this song being interpreted as railing against big government, or ivory tower intellectuals, or whatever other malign forces are preoccupying the conservative imagination at the moment.
Seems pretty clearly “fuck the establishment”, but I agree the overall lyrics are pretty generic and can be interpreted multiple ways (which “powers that be” are being fought exactly?). But the music video and the background vocal “you’re all worthless and weak” makes it more explicitly anti-conservative.
On the other hand, just try to imagine for a second that these guys have ever been concerned about “traditional conservative American values”;
Considering they got Mark Metcalf to reprise his role as Neidermeyer for the video (as well as its follow-on single video “I Wanna Rock”), I’d have to put it solidly in the anti-conservative column.
A word from the author:
Is THIS why Florida wants to ban a bunch of math textbooks because of CRT?
The fact that they appear to have been looking for specific terms in textbooks regardless of context reminds me of the story of some right wing evangelical website years ago that automatically corrected the word “gay” to “homosexual”. So of course a news article about sprinter Tyson Gay turned out just like you would expect.
I also learned this one in the mid-80s. We also learned King Phillip Chases Old Fat Girl Scouts Vigorously in junior high biology.
