NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

That furrow in her brow’s gonna become permanent. That’ll teach her!

Oh dear. I’d better sit down.

this happened to nikki haley, she is not having a good week.

she will pardon trump because an 80 year old in prison would divide the country. oy!

The hamsters must be getting tired…

In just 10 months, the Republican House voted more than two dozen times to repeal varying parts of the Inflation Reduction Act, which makes the IRA the Affordable Care Act of the 2020s. …

…The very first vote the GOP House took this year (once they finally settled on what proved to be a temporary speaker) was to repeal the IRA’s [Inflation Reduction Act’s] new funding for the IRS, money that was targeted in large part at hiring more agents to go after rich tax evaders.

That remains a constant target, along with many of the measures included in the IRA to combat climate change. Among their repeal efforts: the fee for methane emissions from oil and gas producers and pipeline operators; the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund; homeowner rebates and training for energy-efficient appliances; the $4.5 billion High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program; $200 million in State-Based Home Efficiency Contractor Training Grants; and $1 billion for Technical Assistance for Building Energy Codes.

Those are programs that will directly help Americans save money, save energy, and do a little bit to save the planet, not to mention making the air cleaner and maybe even slowing climate change.

But just as they did with Obamacare, they’re putting corporate and individual greed above regular Americans, with the same life and death consequences—this time with even bigger stakes, because it’s about the future of the planet.

Well, what right-minded rich person gives a fuck about those things?

Couldn’t we use the same logic to say that party primaries shouldn’t be allowed? Why can’t I vote for Moron Q. Idiot, just because “thousands” of other primary voters thought that Genius McSmartypants was a better candidate for the general election?

And what if the candidate of my choice is a stripper down at The Glitter Factory and she’s not 35 yet?

Remember that alt-right grifter company that was selling “non-woke” beer for $30 a six-pack to people who were apoplectic because a trans person held a can of Bud Light?

They’ve now launched their own official alt-right titty calendar for 2024 (endorsed by George Santos, famed pioneer in the field of heterosexual softcore, even!), and alt-right Twitter is up in arms over whether it’s “demonic” or not.

“Well, we’ll each just have to buy a copy, and study it diligently until we figure it out!”

Wait, there might be grift involved? Gasp! And why would Santos care about the calendar? I guess keeping his name out there. And now I know what a “coomer” is, so yay for that?

Good to see, though, that Josie (with the libertarian red hair) is a proud Christian.

I don’t get this.

If a Democrat from another district ran in MY district because they were scared of losing in theirs…even if I liked that candidate, that would be a big mark against them. Cannot believe I would be the only one who would think that way.

She would not win any Democrats, and may energize the Democratic Party of that district. The campaign ads write themselves. Plus, SOME Republicans will turn away for her cowardly swithing to a Distric she is not from…

They think she “Stands up to the MAN”. And hey, she likes guns.

She’s just another looser like their hero.

A different GOP candidate in her current district has a better chance of winning. So some Pubbies will think she’s a genius for switching to another district and may vote for her. But she’s got a tough primary, so we’ll see.

Yeah, looking at this purely as a cynical calculation of odds, it probably is a smart move for her. Yes, she will lose some votes from folks who regard her as a carpetbagger or opportunist or quitter or whatever. But there are also benefits. Her current district isn’t all that tilted to the Republicans, and seems to be shifting further away from them. Add that to her own personal repulsiveness which turns off even some Republicans, and she would have a very high chance of losing the general election. The district she’s switching to, however, has a much stronger R lean, and so the Republican candidate is very likely to win the general, even if it’s Boebert. And in a Republican primary, the number of votes she loses from being herself is a much smaller proportion, and she has far more name recognition than any of her possible challengers, so she has a good chance of winning the primary, too.

Basically, this move costs her votes, on net, in the primary, where she can afford to lose a fair number of votes, and gains votes, on net, in the general, that she needs.

I think your analysis is spot on. If she wins the primary, she’s back in Congress.

Amen, amen, amen.

Judging by her performance at Beetlejuice, she is definitely loose.

I can’t believe how much some of these republicans sneer. bobert, that woman on fox, mat gaetz. Didn’t their mom’s tell them their faces would freeze that way. I can see looking annoyed, outraged, etc. but constant, consistent sneering is just gross. The same people smirk too. Not any more attractive in looks or personality.

That’s their natural resting state. These people are not at peace.

Hercules over here apparently thinks the wokes are offended by… (checks notes) cotton.

You should have spoilered that. I feel stupider for having read it.
